    北の大地の壮大さを感じる事が出来る路線です。方向転換する北の要所遠軽駅、長時間に渡る撮影、本当に御苦労様でした。

    遠軽駅は名寄本線廃止によって北に向かう線路がなくなったので今のような不自然なスイッチバック駅になったんですよね
    今でも構内に約30年前に廃止になった名寄本線の痕跡が色濃く残っていて個人的に好きな駅です🙂

    遠軽でスイッチバックするのにどうやって撮影したんやろ?と疑問が芽生えましたが、概要欄に説明ありました。
    両日の長時間に渡る撮影、お疲れさまです。

    i remember taking this train in the winter several years ago. we had JR passes so we reserved seats but it was uncomfortable and pretty crowded then (we had too many luggages). we moved to the free seating instead, where the train was pretty much empty. it's quite rare for a Japanese train to be more crowded at the reserved seating section. the entire 5+ hours was incredibly boring, i sure wished we had more time to make several stops along the way. i would go back to Hokkaido again, maybe a different season.

    OMG!! The Train announcement in English & Chinese are as complete as Japanese. This is so rare on JR trains!!
    Normally JR train don't even had English announcement. If got also very simple such as Next Stop XXX Station; that it.
    The most complete in train announcement I ever heard in Japan are inside Kintetsu Limited Express train. Japanese + English + Chinese + Korean

      @@OverseerMoti English announcement in JR train are very rare. Even "Haruka" which is from Kansai Airport to Osaka / Kyoto, carried 90% foreigners passenger (Travelers) also don't have any English announcement.

      i am sure the Haruka has English announcements, although i take the Rapi:t more as i frequent Namba. JR Hokkaido has additional Chinese announcements on its limited express trains. on regional local lines yeah English announcements are rare, but major lines do have one

      interesting, did JR West said the reason why there were no more English announcements? my last trip to Japan was Feb 2020, and after that three of my flights to NRT and KIX are already cancelled(`Δ´)

    観光地としての知名度は網走のほうが高いんだけど人口とか経済規模とかは北見のほうがずっと上でしかもそこそこ栄えてるんだよね
    網走駅に降り立ったときの駅前の何もなさと北見駅での賑やかさが雲泥の差だった

    At 白滝駅 I saw a staff raised his hand and then the train started moving. Was he signalling the train due to the failure of signal lights?

      Hello!
      On Japanese railroads, when a signal fails, the staff must signal the train using flags.
      He was not using flags meant that there was no problem with the signal at the time.
      I guess that there were people such as passengers or railroad workers around the train, so he was checking to make sure it is safe.

    乗り鉄で駅舎マニアの男が出した本の中に、石北本線の事が書いてあり、青春18切符を使うも、上川から先、運行数が極端に少なくエライめにあったそうだ。片面ホーム駅まで、図に書いたらしい。

    In the description, the second stopping station should be "美唄 Bibai" instead of "滝川 Takikawa".
