Hi Jack, I am a retired trucker from England, and watch your videos with some degree of envy. The biggest single difference between trucking in the USA and England is simply the amount of space you have, vast empty interstates, huge dedicated truck stops, showers, shops, diners, and very cheap fuel. Put simply, we have nothing like that at all in England. All of our motorways are packed full, slightly better if you doing an overnight trunk, but usually a stressful, stop start journey, and you are always fighting the clock, to get to your destination within your hours, due to road conditions, which are beyond your control.my truck had a night heater, which is a small compression diesel motor which runs off the main diesel tanks. I built a small stainless steel box with a lid, and had it fitted over the blower outlet, I made it just big enough to take a can of meat, potatoes and veg. I would click the night heater on 15 mins before I stopped for the night, and I had a really hot meal ready and waitingwhen I stopped, I would turn the cans upside down, so the contents all mixed through, it worked really well.I went to the wholesalers every 3/4 months, and bought all the different cans I wanted, and it was so much cheaper, not perfect, but a lot better than McDonald's and other fast food all the time.you would have no chance pulling a 53 foot trailer in this country, we have roundabouts the size of donuts !!Drive safe, all the best from the old country,
I have never driven a truck and never will now that I'm retired. Just wanted to say though how much i appreciate the work you and all truckers do. This country would fall apart without you. You have class. I always look forwards to your vlog. JJ (aka Verna)
Never realized Florida had a lumber industry even though I knew it has forest. Looked it up to learn that "southern mills" were the first to start grading lumber. As well as the Florida lumber industry current employees nearly 80,000 people. Enjoyed this video as always!
Jack , thanks again for your awesome videos. I live in South Africa and enjoy seeing the USA through your eyes. The next episode can never come fast enough for me. Love it !!
Thanks for the come back jack , I was a company driver and not aware of all the procedures a self employed driver goes through , but dispatchers and receivers have burnt my biscuits and my pay cheque . But it's my birthday to day and I'm retired now , looking forward to your next trip .
Cheer up Jack at least it's rain not snow, but wait your heading north!! These shippers, just like the army...hurry up and wait....Tks for the ride Jack...
I totally agree Jack, you show us how the truck driving life is a lot more than just driving down the interstates and I do really love the scenes of your shippers and receivers premises.
Hey Jack.I really enjoy you videos. Kinda my way of staying on the road. I was force to retire 3 years ago due to disabling arthiritis. I was a flatbedder/oversize for 27 of my 30 years otr. I did that box/reefer stuff for a year and half. That stuff that you had happen there was why I was never happier getting back to my tarps, chains, and straps. I learned running western Canada that you always have at least a microwave and a weeks worth of food. That way you just pull around back out of the way, park and wait right there. It sure saves on the extra mileage and expenses. Be safe. Big Bear.
Thank you for showing the truth life of the truckers faced daily for us have a clear picture of the career rather than some who comestic how fancy it is of the trucking it may be misleading the newcomers.
The world needs to insert $ penalties to shippers and receivers who can't follow their stated agreement / responsibilities (demurage). Always good to travel with you Jack - have a good Thanksgiving sir.
Some days nothing goes right Jack, 1 time I pickup a load of the small bundles that wood rapped in plastic, from the ceiling to the floor just off Hwy 17 just out of Flag(AZ.) headed back to Phoenix. When I lost my Jake Breaks going back to Phoenix headed to LA, that was fun, lost some more hair. HA HA. Better day tomorrow Jack.
You're two hours early, AND they've already closed? They had you *scheduled* to show up after they had been closed even longer??? Sir, it's noon. Were' closed. You aren't due here until 2 pm...we like to not only be closed when our truckers arrive, we need at least two hours to get the heck out of Dodge. Next time, please don't arrive until at least 3 hours after we close. Thank you for visiting Crazy Bob's firewood. :-)
Had a similar experience back on my 4th load since finishing training with my mentor. Only difference was that I arrived at the top of the hour when everyone was going home, and was more than 100 miles from the nearest truck stop. Thankfully they let me park there overnight; 100 miles of back roads, running through small towns ("pinch points" as I call them) is NOT fun.
Hey Jack, Since you are stopped in Beckley WV I'll jump off here and visit the family in Oceana about 50 mi. away. Thanks for the ride have a good thanksgiving stay safe. I'll catch up at your next video.
Built in conflict: the trucker hates rain and the videographer [should] loves rain... even though you are not a night driver and will miss the night reflections Hollywood loves, rain still increases the drama with additional action, color and lighting changes... Love that you keep experimenting with angles; like the full front window view... Tough to keep clean in certain bug seasons/areas though. PS: have you ever tried Rain-X?
why did you have to go to a truck stop? would the place not let you just park up there for the night? maybe unhook the trailer and drive to a store for some food
This video really gives a great example what truckers go thru beyond driving among road raged idiots. On the other side, it must be snugly sleeping in the bunk with the pitter-patter of rain knowing you are all snug
Man those McLane's are horrible! You lucked out at that one Jack! Too bad the broker screwed the pooch and made that load drag out longer than it should have. And that reload spot in a residential neighborhood...geesh😲. Glad you finally got outta there. Safe travels Jack✌
I think you need to have your army buddies come along with you (might get better service), lol. Load from hell (bent mirror, no unload, missing pallet, no com check)
Hi Jack, what a day at the first stop, sure was testing your patience if your asking me, for me as a Dutch guy it was strange to see that the unloaders had to held you "hostage" for their paycheck, totally different here, they get paid by the company where you unload, but yet again a nice part of your trucking life...i might make me a film one day like that ...keep it up ! ( by the way...red Volvo's Rule ! :-) )
It's great how you use technology to scout out the next job and how to best manage the pickup, but with all the cameras, why not a reversing camera as that is a critical part of every job?
What’s the reason for kiln drying the wood then storing it outside uncovered so when it rains (because it’s Florida lol) and the the woods gets wet again??? Lol
What happened to detention time? sit two hours or whatever and start the clock until they unload you. Maybe that went away with deregulation. Thankfully, I trucked under Teamsters protection.
Now I know why you are a pallet short Jack. Come on now, you need a lot of wood to burn your biscuits. 😡 Thats ok cause Santa is watching all those shippers/receivers to see who is naughty or nice to you. Happy Holidays Jack.
Hey Indiana Jack, I enjoy your videos and I'm thinking about getting behind the wheel... Have you had any problems with Gang Banger's or Hoodlums giving you any problems in bigger cities? Chicago, Baltimore, Los Angeles???
Jack you’ve got to stop poopooing Shreveport! Even though you’re really in Bossier City just past the Old Minden Rd exit. But the word is that after Summer 2018 when the new I 220 & 49 interchange is complete and a detour without construction will be available, Louisiana DOTD is finally going to work on I 20 through Shreveport/Bossier City.
grocery warehouses are the worst and most frustrating places to deliver and pickup. better have a good company that will pay for the detention pay and lumper pay cause your gonna sit for a extremely long long time.
There is just something wrong with the practice of the truck owner having to pay a lumper fee. Common sense says that is the responsibility of the receiver. Toot you horn when you go through Columbus Ohio. Lots of construction around town so don't cuss me too much.
As someone who lives in a forest who buys cords of wood for his wood stove to heat his house through the winter. That firewood is shit. Its cut too small to be used for anything beyond kindling.
4:35 sitting at Dollarama in Montreal burning my biscuits. I arrived 26 hours early for my appointment. Can't take me. Fault? Me for being too eager to please my boss (company driver)? Drove from O-hi-o too. No good to stamp my feet. My fridge is full and I'm not budging from their lot. Stamp. Stamp.
not sure if that allow in some state park they so fuss about outside that haul from campground to campground like they it's think the dreaded invasive wood pest such as the emerald ash borer ~ local drive in our state might hate the e-log get you news story link
If you want a shower at the Flying J buy 51.0 gals of fuel. Before the bankruptcy the pump would show 50.0 gals. When you got inside your ticket would only show 49.9 gals. Just a way to scam you out of your shower. May be different now under Pilot ownership. But it's hard to scam you if you're aware of the situation.
I think it would make things a lot easier on truckers, especially since there is a parking problem at truck stops. Cooperation! I hate when man-made systems get fouled up, and there are potential man-made solutions, but nothing is ever done.

"Wish I could break down" great sense of humor.

You are a master at backing in to tight spots! Would like to see an autonomous truck try that.
Thank you for showing the truth life of the truckers faced daily for us have a clear picture of the career rather than some who comestic how fancy it is of the trucking it may be misleading the newcomers.

Oh, Jack, I like how you show that grill as you mention burned biscuits. Hahaha! Nice.

Good job keeping your cool, especially when they said they were closed. Really like to watch you, so smooth at it.
!Another great one! Thanks, Jack!
It always pays off to be early Jack, or thats what i have found.........May God Bless and keep you safe Jack, enjoy your videos very much.....
Hey Jack I admire your tolerance they would be short 14 pallets on the dock but would have a hell of a lot of ashes in front of there docks 👍
Thanks for the ride. This was a stressful trip, but the sun will be out again and things will get better. Have a good day and be safe.
Another nice adventure Jack. Well done once again. Thank you for sharing and I hope you have the opportunity enjoy Thanksgiving with your family.
+Tom Allis thanks Professor Tom. :-)

Ahhh yeah like my OTR Trucker brother says hurry up and wait. My says frustration is the number one and agrivation go hand in hand as trucker.

+john halton thanks John I have been there a few times. And always needed rain gear. :-)
What’s the reason for kiln drying the wood then storing it outside uncovered so when it rains (because it’s Florida lol) and the the woods gets wet again??? Lol
Greetings mr jack happy thanksgiving to you god bless you
I wonder if there's any money to make when you're hauling a product that (relatively) cheap compared to its mass.
great show jack!!

Indiana Jack quick question
I'm going on the road in January for a OTR company. And was wondering what type of GPS you use please
Now I know why you are a pallet short Jack. Come on now, you need a lot of wood to burn your biscuits. 😡 Thats ok cause Santa is watching all those shippers/receivers to see who is naughty or nice to you. Happy Holidays Jack.
+DeepScubaDiver lol
They should at pay you twice you showed up twice. Them DIRTY
+Larry fisher they did pay me to lay over but I agree with what you said LOL
indianajacktrucker ,
On average, how many miles do you drive a year?
When you live in El Paso, Tex any rain is welcomed
Good video today. Where else can your narrator be heard? He sounds expensive.
Indiana jack. me gusta el nombre y admira la paciencia que tiene con los costumers congra
Jack, do you get paid extra for your additional miles and for detention?
Who covers the cost of the diesel for the 80 mile round trip to the truck Stop and back to the McLanes?
+Andrew Field I do.
indianajacktrucker thats not on and the shipper even lied to your broker.
Hey Indiana Jack, I enjoy your videos and I'm thinking about getting behind the wheel... Have you had any problems with Gang Banger's or Hoodlums giving you any problems in bigger cities? Chicago, Baltimore, Los Angeles???

Jack, I've burned wood in my home for over 20 years, and kiln dried or not, I wouldn't burn pine in my wood burner.
+willibill c what does it do?
I enjoy your videos, but not a trucker. Could you do a video to explain your electronic log book, at the level a non-truck could understand.
I disliked food warehouse's immensely when I drove !!!!
dan terlecki same here I gave up reefer for tankers and I’ll never go back
I just had a 6 stop load and every appt time that I was given was wrong for all of my stops.
+Jeff Wilbanks they can't get any good help these days Jeff
wait your delivery is not 2PM, that's to keep you happy till you get there, that's a food warehouse your delivery is really 2AM
You should of skimmed a bit from the top of every pallet and sold some of that wood. To cover your fuel cost..
grocery warehouses are the worst and most frustrating places to deliver and pickup. better have a good company that will pay for the detention pay and lumper pay cause your gonna sit for a extremely long long time.
Francorama: any idea why they are so slow?
I know you’ve driven in 48 states. How do you rate N.C.?
There is just something wrong with the practice of the truck owner having to pay a lumper fee. Common sense says that is the responsibility of the receiver. Toot you horn when you go through Columbus Ohio. Lots of construction around town so don't cuss me too much.
+MrTodd51 I agree and have never understood why lumpers are even involved.

Shouldn't the Broker have verified unload times?
Why didn"t you unhook and bob tail to a nice motel?
How many times do you fart 💨 in that truck ?
Thanks :-)
keepin it real Jack
I would have stayed there and ordered a pizza.

Jack, does the lumper fee come out of your pocket?
+willibill c The broker pays the lumper fee in most cases.
👍
Why couldn't you simply park overnight at the receiver in one of those open bays? Easier and more efficient for everyone. Thanks.
+avlisk most shippers and receivers will not let you do that including this one.
I think it would make things a lot easier on truckers, especially since there is a parking problem at truck stops. Cooperation! I hate when man-made systems get fouled up, and there are potential man-made solutions, but nothing is ever done.
avlisk Maybe worried about liability issues or insurance company doesn't like it?
🦃 Have a happy bird day 🦃
They could have unloaded you, We already have a lack of truck drivers, crap like this is the reason.
+kenneth bredow Grocery warehouses do whatever they want. They even tell Trump to sit down and wait his turn.
I didn't like hauling grocery loads and the lumpers were rude quite often , thank you for all your work making your uplifting shows!
That Mo. Forker " should fix it, then shouldn't he ; NO...
