FIFA soundtracks pre FIFA 18 didn't miss all of them were just vibes, you could just sit in the menus and listen to them
FIFA soundtracks shape nostalgia and are always associated with the memories of a happier time in life. Also because they’re really f***ing good songs. Modern FIFA soundtracks are not usually my cup of tea but there’s always a handful that are bangers. The soundtracks encapsulate the love for the sport and the world game. Everyone involved with the management of the soundtracks (especially FIFA 15) deserves to be knighted. Half of my music playlist are a combination of FIFA and 2K songs
For me "FIFA song" isn't necessarily specific elements, but different messages from around the world.
It may sound a bit poetic, but football is cosmopolitic. It's goddamn everywhere. In FIFA, soundtracks are made from songs with different styles, genres, by people from various parts of the world and that's what I love.
Both Sewn from FIFA 07 and Good Girls from FIFA 22 are FIFA songs and they sound completely different. Well, there is 15 years of difference, but in both there is a element of need to listen to it.
Another good example is Followers by Area21 from FIFA 22’s soundtrack, completely different message, but perfect for FIFA

Yeah, and there are different phases in FIFA s selection too. Just compare Fifa 09 to Fifa 16 or 18 or the current Fifas, pretty big difference in style in general
It's weird how much less they include authentic foreign music now. There are so many legendary Portuguese/Brazilian, German, Italian, Spanish FIFA songs. But now their idea of "diversity" is just to have a load of different black British rappers who make me want to kill myself almost as much as the gameplay does.
Hearing those opening guitar notes from "Hit It" in FIFA 14 let me know that it was about to be fun. I love that game so much, man, it was amazing!

I agree to a extent with nostalgia but I was 15 when fifa 06 was out but the fifa soundtrack from 2011-2017 just feels to special because they're just great, catchy, up lifting songs
Eh, tell that to the likes of 24 Hours-Wretch 32, Are We Ready-Two Door Cinema Club, Hangin' or Send Them Off! or Weight of Living part 2-Bastille etc, those arent uplifting in the slightest

Oh mate. Literally, I too have Club Foot in my playlist and I couldn't recall the name of it, I'm gutted lmao.
Also, you might be interested in this little fact: chill pop music, as you described the "downbeat" song, has always (at least, in my head) been a staple of FIFA music. I remember like 4 or 5 years back I found this band that fit the description I just gave and I told a friend of mine it gave me "FIFA, 2011, 2012 kinda vibes" AND I DON'T REMEMBER if it was because I hadn't bought the game or it hadn't been released yet. BUT A SONG FROM THAT SAME BAND APPEARED IN THE NEXT FIFA.
I was amazed at my knowledge honestly. If you'd like to know the band I'm talking about, its name is "half alive". I discovered one of their songs via an animation of an anime game I really like (´still feel.´) and the song featured on FIFA is called RUNAWAY.

FIFA 17 soundtrack is hella underrated tho
My fifas were prior to fifa 12 ( I dont fit yoit demographic of 18 year olds, I'm 31) however these songs still hit home due to playing fifa at any point was nostalgic.

I only got into FIFA a few years ago, but I began to collect and play retro FIFA games, and so many of those songs still manage to have a place in my heart.

Love the video Viz mate, but I have to say, the soundtracks now are still very very good. We look back on the past with rose-tinted goggles, but songs like Landline, the Overload, Feet Don't Fail me Now and others from 22 are very good - credit must be paid where its due. My faves are still 14,15,16 and rogue shout but 18 or even 19

The intro on this video(the Strokes song featuring) already gives some proper nostalgia vibes. But when it comes to FIFA soundtrack songs, whenever I hear it I don't only think of certain FIFA releases, but of football moments from that season(good and bad), eg. Crystal Fighters - Follow not only reminds me of FIFA13, but also unfortunately of Chelsea's dismal Champions League title defence when they crashed out in the group stages.
That season is the best football time of my life though as a Steaua Bucharest fan as we almost knocked out that Chelsea from EL, there are 2 types of people lol

Gonna go controversial, fifa 19 soundtrack is phenomenal. It covers so many genres and moods whilst still keeping that ‘fifa’ sound. I think a few of the songs feel out of place but ones like Ordinary People, Its not this, Genius and Good to be home sound like they were built for fifa menus. Plus I don’t think we will ever see a more diverse and talented lineup of artists: Death Can for Cutie, Billie Eillish, Easy Life, Gotillaz, Sia, Same Fender, Childish Gambino and Tom Misch are all fantastic artists.
I almost forget ‘1000 opera singers working in Starbucks’, that song is a perfect example of fifa music

Tbf I still enjoy the soundtracks I started playing in fifa 13 and my favourite ones r 15 14 and 17 but theres never been a bad year for me every year theres always fun songs such as come alive in fifa 15 or shelter in fifac17 aswell as chill ones such as money by zhu in fifa 17 or disarm by blood moon this year

As someone who’s first and most nostalgic FIFA was 17, I got Shelter, Move, and Chariots instantly. Really wish I played the earlier FIFAs but as an American, ⚽️ isnt in our culture. Shoutout to the Sidemen for getting me into fifa

Jerk it Out - Caesars - Fifa Football 2004 was my first FIFA and it honestly makes me reminisce and miss being young. Don’t play the game really anymore but honestly the power of a simple song from past iterations gives me the feels so much
That Robbie Williams song from FIFA 2000 still hits very hard. I have a whole playlist of just FIFA songs and its always the first one that pops up because thats the first thing you hear watching the intro to that game. Holds a special place in my heart being my first experience of FIFA as well even though it came out before I was born

FIFA 13 and 14 had the best soundtracks, from Dreaming by Smallpools and The City by The 1975, to Us Against The World by Clement Marfo and Finale by Madeon. Nothing tops them.
Bro I'm 14 and I get nostalgia from when my brother was playing fifa 16, and I remember all the songs. Also fifa 18 was the best fifa ever for me as I haven't gotten the chance to play 12-15

Fifa soundtracks are just as integral to the games itself. It has a blend of upbeat music from well known artists to obscure music from unknown talents. Hell I enjoy listening to music from artists who sings in the native tongues.
I discovered some of my favourite bands via the FIFA soundtracks.

Fifa music have really shaped my music taste for over a decade. It’s helped me connect with people who listen to certain bands and genres, they’re surprised and ask how I know certain songs or whatev and I say, “heard it in one of the fifa games” Honestly I look forward to the sound track of fifa every year and see what new songs are gonna be on repeat for a whole year again😂

Just turned 15, my nostalgic fifa is FIFA14. Didn’t get all of the songs right but I got most of the newer ones in the quiz right. I still like some FIFA22 songs although it isn’t as good as the other “new” FIFAs such as FIFA20. My favorite FIFA soundtrack (that I know) is FIFA19

I only joined fifa in 19 but all of the songs from the likes of 14 and 15 are the best. Recency bias does still happen though- fifa 19 is my favourite soundtrack after listening to every other since fifa 10
You should do the tier list again
For me, there are five songs from FIFA 19 and 20 that sound somewhat like a FIFA song
1: SLP - The Favorites (FIFA 20)
2: Child of The Parish - Before the Moment’s Gone (FIFA 20)
3: Maisonair - Violet City (FIFA 19)
4: half-alive - Runaway (FIFA 20)
5: Atomic Drum Assembly - Island Life (FIFA 19)
Also the artist who made Favorites is also the lead singer of Kasbian, the band who made Club Foot.
I have written about this on that previous nostalgia video but I will expand here, even though I am a bit late. The thing is, I d argue there isnt even one "FIFA song" model (outside of bringing new artists/songs to light for me at least (there are a few popular ones too like Genius-LSD being in fifa 19 or Heat Waves now), I mean christ my music knowledge would be dry without FIFA songs. Not that I am very knowledgeable now but still), but rather multiple. Compare fifa 09, 16, 18-19 and the current fifas. They are all different general styles imo. As for being uplifting, the beauty of it is that you can find pretty much any message within FIFA songs, including darker, deeper ones. See things like 24 Hours-Wretch 32 (fifa 14), literally all 3 Bastille songs that I know were in fifa (Weight of Living part 2, Hangin', Send Them Off), The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness-The National (fifa 18), Are We Ready-Two Door Cinema Club (fifa 17), Shelter-Porter Robinson and Madeon that was in this video (yep, that was the song around 7:00, it was in fifa 17 not 16 but close enough lol. Fun fact, people are journaling in the comment section of the official video), Kids-MGMT that is so widely known as THE fifa 09 song etc. As for guessing songs, most of the ones in this video were from fifas I didnt play, 15 was literally the gap year for me between 14 (and the waay more sparsely bought fifas before that: 09 and the UCL 2006-2007 game) and the 16-22 period where I got the game every year while many of the others were from before 14. Also I have no idea how you guess them from literally 2 seconds of playtime, I know the ones I played well but that is still a bit too fast for me. If it were the chorus maybe but the start... I guess that is what the threat of copyright strikes trains us to do lol. Move is unique though, and yes it was fifa 17 just to confirm, so was Chariots (another sad song). Gold was fifa 16. For me everything up to and including 19 is nostalgic and it is about being that age and remembering the practice arenas and the career modes I did etc as I said on that other video. I didnt even look up the songs after 20 s lyrics or anything and I cant say I like them (for me the lyrics are a huge part of a song in general), but that is also because of a worse period in my own life tbf as I have been growing up
