    Nothing beats the original military sentimental value.
    But I give you thumbs up for the First Blood (Rambo) theme used in your video.

    The jacket shown in the video is definitely a Chinese-produced garment. There is a small "Alpha" identifier tag on the far left outside hem of the left breast pocket on those Alpha M-65's that are produced in China. I have one of those, and two of the older American Alpha jackets, and that is the most discernible difference between the two. There are others, such as the inside neck tag indicating place of manufacture, and while the older one's are clear that they're made in the USA, the newer ones kind of "skirt" the issue, and don't print something like "Made in China", et. al. That being said, both iterations of this jacket are good to excellent, and I would say that the newer fabric is a bit "crisper", perhaps due to a higher nylon ratio than the originals, which feel a bit softer. Anyway, I wouldn't shy away from purchasing anything Alpha in this regard; however, do watch out for "Slim Fit" and other versions of the field jacket, as they stray a great deal from the genuine article in favor of fashion, trend, and cheaper materials.

    • @Murtagh653
      @Murtagh653 Год назад +3

      i'm not sure that you are correct about them "skirting the issue", as i recently bought one and it has a made in China tag on it, there are 2 labels below the white label; one has alpha industries on it, and the smaller one next to it says made in China.
      as for the material, the newer jackets outer shell is 50 % nylon 50 % cotton, and the lining is 65 % polyester 35 % cotton, i believe the outer shell is the same % nylon and cotton as the original, but i'm not sure about the lining.
      the reason the older jackets are softer is probably due to age and being worn, the new jackets should start feeling like that the more they are worn.

    • @hiwayman981
      @hiwayman981 Год назад +2

      Yeah, you're right; the newer ones like the model featured in the video do have more identifiers such as the "Alpha" brand insignia, and are up front regarding the country of manufacture. My Chinese jacket must be a bit older (it's at least ten years old by now, and maybe more). Good luck with your new purchase - it should wear well.@@Murtagh653

    "it's not a made in china alpha, its a genuine US product, i was lucky to find it in one of the old stores in Dubai." Bro, i am sorry to say, this is *not*, i repeat *not* being made into the USA, but only the *fabric* was/is being made there. It was being sewn into China, i own exactly the same. Look carefully inside your M65 - it says on the Alpha Patch "fabric made n usa". The military standard issue *never* came with that Alpha shit, means brand patches and such. No hard feelings. Besides, still a cool M65. I like mine. 🙂

    The obsession with Alpha Industries is a little unclear to me. After all, this company is only one of many that produced M-65 jackets for the army. And subsequently, having fabric, accessories and patterns available, it began to produce commercial M-65 jackets, which were completely identical to army contracts... But this was until the mid-90s of the last century, before moving production to China. Your jacket is already sewn from analogue fabric (of worse quality) and using different accessories (the original is a Scovill zipper and DOT buttons), moreover, the sewing patterns differ from the original. I am writing to you this as a long-time admirer of M-65 jackets, who has 8 military M-65 jackets and 2 early commercial (correct) ones from Alpha Industries in his wardrobe. I also bought a jacket like yours at one time, but quickly parted with it due to the fact that it did not meet expectations...) ... Sorry for the clumsy translation from Google. Greetings from Moscow.
    P.S. I hope I'm not violating the youtube rules by providing links to third-party commercial resources. Here is an example of a properly commercial jacket before production moved to China. This jacket is made entirely from original materials and accessories, according to the correct patterns... And is no different from jackets issued under army contracts (except for labels, of course)

    I have to say that i do have this Alpha into XS, the G.I. version into OG-107, and the black one. What's crazy is, that the friggin Zipper is onto the wrong side, really! That drives me crazy. The Helikon is as close as a replica could get, to the original M65. Just ordered the M65 Covert Jacket from Helikon-Tex, because it's more suitable for the Office. And the Alpha doesn't fit that great. Yes, XS does work (172cm, 65kg) but i can't stick a liner underneath...too tight already at the chest, and no space for a liner. Into others (Military original versions) I just have Size S, Short. This works perfectly for myself. Also with Liner. The arms are too wide into the Alpha Industries M65.
