Honestly I appreciate how open-minded Zach was about tasting new flavors. Being Korean-American myself, squid is just one of those yummy snack flavors you KNOW is savory, salty, and delicious so it was a bit of reverse culture shock to see some of their negative gut reactions to it!
I remember the first time I tried squid? My cousin was starting to explore food outside what we grew up with and I would tag along. It's so good! I personally like the shrimp flavored chips haha

They help add more goo bacteria to the gut and your gut is the most important factor in overall health including skin complexion. I was actually surprised that all of the snacks are what elder Koreans enjoy. There's even a meme in Korea where kids call these snacks "what my dad buys when I ask him to grab me real snacks on the way home". I feel like Eugene grew up with the classic snacks since Korean stores in the US tend to be a little outdated. Maybe the reactions might be different if they tried more popular snacks that most Koreans enjoy nowadays.
Friendly tip when eating international treats: eat first, THEN smell, THEN find out what you just ate. As a Korean, I'll be the first to state, a lot of our snacks taste far different from the way they smell, often MUCH nicer. And once you've had the unique flavor, and become accustomed to the combination, when you find out how odd the combination seems, you'll be alright with it - like the squid and peanut combo. Most people would be horrified by hearing those words together, until they've tasted them, and discovered just how well they go together.
I definitely agree! But that’s also coming from someone that grew up right next to a Korean Grocery store and an international grocery store. So I grew up eating all of these. They’re all so delicious!

Yep. Still can't stand the smell of Ax Body Sprays even to this day. It smells like hot garbage to me. Sometimes pregnancy permanently alters (addles? Lol) your brain. Smelling ANY Ax Body sprays makes my mouth salivate and acid rise in the back of my throat. :::shivers:::
I'm from Vietnam, and I have never heard of nut allergies until I went study abroad in the U.S... One of my American friends who has onion and garlic allergies visited Vietnam once, and I was in constant fear for her life :)

As an Asian, I had tried most of these snacks before. Except the sweet potatoe one. My favorite is the Shrip, the squid/ peanut one, and the choco pie. All my childhood snacks! I also enjoy the squid and fish jerkys flakes too! It may smell weird the the taste is really good.

Poor Ariel! I can’t imagine how overwhelming all these new smells must be affecting her during her pregnancy. According to my mom, pregnancy makes you SUPER sensitive to smells and taste.

Yep. Still can't stand the smell of Ax Body Sprays even to this day. It smells like hot garbage to me. Sometimes pregnancy permanently alters (addles? Lol) your brain. Smelling ANY Ax Body sprays makes my mouth salivate and acid rise in the back of my throat. :::shivers:::

I'm from Vietnam, and I have never heard of nut allergies until I went study abroad in the U.S... One of my American friends who has onion and garlic allergies visited Vietnam once, and I was in constant fear for her life :)

Most parents in the US actually cause peanut allergies because they don’t introduce them to children when they are so little and we are so careful with peanuts and peanut butter and it’s not really a thing in other countries. In short we are just little bitches

As an Asian, I had tried most of these snacks before. Except the sweet potatoe one. My favorite is the Shrip, the squid/ peanut one, and the choco pie. All my childhood snacks! I also enjoy the squid and fish jerkys flakes too! It may smell weird the the taste is really good.

Generally if you’re gonna try foods that are not of your culture, being mindful and respectful MUST be at the forefront. Think of how many people who are of these cultures that get made fun of in America because it’s different and smells “funky”. As Ned says, something being “not for me” is more than enough and is respectful to everyone involved.
