_Side note, back when phone companies and any and ALL electronic companies stood out and weren’t afraid to experiment with new designs. Those days are long gone now._
Part of that blame can be put on the constant BS propaganda that Apple had when their insistence on maximum THINNESS on their products. The iPhone was often propped up as the premium phone design and Samsung went along with the same initiative. Eventually the thinness of the phone form factor took over as a default. I also believe that companies are less likely to experiment with wild, niche phone designs due to the rising costs of manufacturing. It didn't seem to be a huge issue in the 90's.
@user-bg3rp2qj5bi have never walked around with an old brick phone. In my pocket and I don't want to, there's a reason thinness won, but there are other things that they could be doing on top of that as well😂
Nothing even to this day beats the Ericsson T28 for innovation and design. I miss the good old days of fixing these things for a living. The variety of brands and designs was fantastic. Now everything is just a giant screen on top of a rectangular block. Boring.
I almost forgot that sim cards in the mid 90s were just phone cards. (Phone cards were used for payphones) The memory section was small but non removable. Even the original small sim cards which appeared in the late 90s were so much bigger than we use now in our phones.
@Agonia-f1r IDK what country you are in, but @nanevak is 100% correct withthe timeline. Pagers were an '80s-'90s thing. Pre-paid Phonecards started appearing around that time as well. The last phone I had that used a SIM card was my iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Di akhir 90 & 2000 an mulai bangkit telepon genggam modern adanya SMS kemudian 3G
Anyone else remember when they were going to have disposable cell phones in like a vending machine, and then later they put that in the live action of Uktra Violet? Oh yeah they could have done that.
if the battery still works, i can bet those phones can still work today. Surprisingly cellular networks kept the frequency signals being used way back when these phones were made.
Klasse!
Exactly how I remember it they used to not separate the SIM card from the actual credit card size piece of plastic. I don’t know if that made them easier to replace or what. I miss the 80s in the 90s so bad somebody make a Time Machine I wanna go back.
These phones were actually more creative than anything out there today. Loved owning a cellphone in the late 2000s into the early 2010s. Some really beautiful devices came out of that era.
i'm 40, and i had a full size sim card motorolla phone. Not a great device, it burned battery very fast. But it worked in places not meant to have any connectivity, like deep basements, underground structures, etc. Later i had nokia 3110, same great connectivity, very short antenna, good battery life, working near army base, constant radio scrambler active. Later had nokia 3310 - not that good with connectivity, but in that time gsm base stations were everywhere. Best battery life. Later had 6630 - just favourite device/
Ahhhh….. the memories. When I first started fixing phones in the late 90’s it was on classic bricks like these. We all nearly lost our shit the day the Ericsson guy came to the workshop and showed us the T28 and gave us the repair schematics and parts list months before it released. Wish I still had mine.
I always used to grow up asking why the sim companies just give the small sim instead of the whole card and now I understand why they used to give entire card with small removable sim attached to it
The real sim card 😂
_Card*_

All by long term intention to have the controlling tech object smaller and less conspicuous until it is embedded inside your body
Nothing even to this day beats the Ericsson T28 for innovation and design. I miss the good old days of fixing these things for a living. The variety of brands and designs was fantastic. Now everything is just a giant screen on top of a rectangular block. Boring.
yeah, and they used to sell polyphonic ringtones on wap sites
Se vienen telefonos con nuevos diseños. Espera al próximo año.

Motorola Startac rainbow
It was the size of a credit card, but if it's newer, you'd just remove the small chip; a simplicity that still exists in Brazil today.
@guilhermebills
I have Iphone 17 pro max, it works without a SIM card. It doesn’t have a place for SIM card at all

So Philips produce phones............Amazing 😮

These phones were actually more creative than anything out there today. Loved owning a cellphone in the late 2000s into the early 2010s. Some really beautiful devices came out of that era.
