Most Type XXI submarines were themselves sunk or blown up so they would not fall into the enemy's hands. The Cruiser Hipper has also been blasted in the dock and grounded in the Heikendorf Bay. Not everything what lay in harbour was sunk by British and American bombers. When I hear this movie with the heroic undertone and music, I have to puke. I'm from Kiel and I know that primarily the civilian residential quarters in Kiel were bombed from a Arthur Harris, firstly to kill people in her quarters. You can call me a liar, but unfortunately my parents and grandparents are witnesses of these bombardements and I grew up in these ruins in the 1950s.

True. The bombing of the west side of the Kiel bay was mainly on civilians with a large portion of incendieries that created a burning hell. But on the other hand..my mother lived on the east side of the Kiel Bay in Wellingdorf, right next to Marine Arsenal, and it was of course a legitim military target for the 8th air force and RAF. Mothers house was flattened on the 24 july 1944. Schrekliche Zeiten....

It’s so amazing the viewpoint of the British and how they wanted to remain supreme world leaders over Germany and others. To never let Germany again be a world economic leader. Do you think this attitude created both world wars? “EMPIRE”. The greed of the British empire was just so amazing to fathom.
