Magnificent & talented singer & songwriter who was forgotten to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. No matter what, I love you, Neil. You are the best & no one can surpass your talent.
I cannot believe this incredible talent is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There is a petition, (google Neil Sedaka Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Petition), and please sign. There are so many salame', far less talented in the Hall, yet Neil is not in. A real shame.
Tony Christie was made an honorary Citizen of Amarillo when he visited the city in 2005. Neil Sedaka became an honorary Citizen of Amarillo at his concert here in 1977.
I ship language courses, atlases, and maps all over the earth in my job BUT 1 place today I was typing the label and it had Amarillo, TX. Guess what it made me think of as I often do. Neil Sedaka, Is This the Way to Amarillo. I sent the link out to the main office and EVERYONE was singing as I listened from my office! Neil I have listened to you since I was a young fellow and know the words to many of the beautiful and happy songs you sing and nothing has given me a greater pleasure than to listen to you sing this today. Of course I have albums, cd's and every tape you ever made in my collection. I love you for the way you bring happines into my life and I love your music and singing voice. You are a magnificent man and I will never forget that cheerful happy look on your face and the songs you sing. You are an incredible delight even more since our country has turned so negative on everything. You are the spark that lights the fire of sheer delight and also GOD's gift for the pleasure you bring to others. I will enjoy your wonderful music and singing always. Thank you X 10,000 Neil Sedaka. Two other songs I cherish are Oh Carol, and Calendar Girl as they are sheer joy listening to them. Ray Cauchon old jersey boy transplanted to Spring Hill, FL
Amazing voice. Remember my mom had "The Tra-La Days Are Over" (UK) (1973) on cassette tape. A bit corny for my music taste today, but amazing voice, and uplifting. What a crowd.... :-)
Hello 7blackbird, Do you have the complete Neil Sedaka set from Proms in the park 2010 on dvd? I would really like to buy a copy from you. Please let me know. Hoping you can help me.
amazing songwriter and wonderful entertainer with a reasonable singing voice, which somehow just doesn't age, unlike Tony Christie's, who has the superior voice, which frayed over time, taking it from a masterful voice to a reasonable voice. Despite what sounds like narrowing of the windpipe, Christie's vocal tone doesn't sound as flat as Sedakas. I can make clever comparisons; no skin off their nose. What I must say is that their duet performing Amarillo together, was a magnificent event, which made me want to hug both of them. unfortunately that duet was deleted from RUclips. I had watched it no less than 20 times and so glad that the mind has such fantastic memories' storage, tho I would even pay a dime to see that performance of Amarillo again.
@@solomongrundy4905 calling Neil's tone flat (here in this video) was harsh of me- but I still say that Tony Christie's has greater resonance (in every other rendition of this song). The duet that I alluded to, I did find again on RUclips a while back - it is such a gem... and Neil did also give a resounding performance there. Christie sounded brilliant but his airways were near splitting whilst Sedaka sang effortlessly. As I said before; I could have hugged them both for giving a mighty performance. Call that assinine if you want. Pah!
Neil was born, absolutely born to do this. You can
feel the Joy.

The master at work.
one of the Greatest Song Writers of all time!
As a songwriter it must be an indescribable feeling having 50,000 people singing your song along with you!
Amazing song and performance

I cant believe he is not in the hall of fame .Thats not right.
Wow his voice sounds so young !! What a talent!
Neil Sedaka and Tony Christie, what great talent!!
Both are good
Yes but the songwriter's talent is vital- without it what would the fine singer sing?
I am not sure how old Neil Sedaka is here in 2010 but he hasn't lost his voice at all, sounds just as good as he always did. Brilliant post.
in 2010 he was 71 ;-)
The King.
magic performer and has written some of the great songs
At nearly 80, Neil Sedaka STILL sounds great.
a lot of free COVID concerts from Neil these last
few years. Lifting us.
@@josephkelley8641 Just one MORE reason that Neil will never be forgotten.

An amazing singer and performer.

Altijd leuk om die ouwe liedjes terug te horen. Doet me denken aan de goede oude tijd als dj(toto)in de 70 ' s
De liedjes van o.a.Neil Sedaka doen me de tijd waarin 'knog jonger was herbeleven! Bedankt daarvoor!
Met vriendelijke groetjes van Flor.
He was a great performer .

I wonder what the world would be like if Neil had never seen a piano. Perish the thought.
you cannot beat a man singing his own song, theres nothing worse than a an unsung song.

Performed impeccably, by a living legend!

Amarillo by Morning by George Strait is by far the more popular of the "Amarillo" songs in the US. But this is still a good one.
how unstrict this song starts into a ska version with funny brittish humoristic piano and an orchestra.
M
Tony Christie does the song much better
yeah, Tony does it better - and Neil wrote it...
Er he is nearly 80 years old.
Irrelevant.
Fabulous talent
