I feel the same way after watching the videos, and I made them! Hopefully you can enjoy the journey through the series to get you through the rest of winter
Thank you for taking the time to do the Mississippi river series. It was exceptionally put together and allows viewers to feel like we're on the adventure with you! One of the best I have seen! Can't wait to watch more of your future trips. :)
Not sure why my reply didnt go through from before... I appreciate the kind words, filming was just as big an undertaking as the trip itself so I am very happy the series came out the way it did and that so many people enjoy watching it! Thanks!!!
Jay watched your complete trip, the way the usa is going pretty soon the state will fine you for putting anything on youtube,so much for a free country, thanks I really enjoyed your trip!!
That was beautiful man. I wish I could have had more those scenic shots in my trip. Like you did here. Mine was focused more on fishing so it was hard to add those without the video getting extremely long.
Yeah i struggled to not make the videos too long. But if you do end up doing this trip those scenes will be there waiting for you! The mississippi is great at giving you plenty of picture perfect views
Hi Beyza! welcome, I hope you enjoy the trip! I love paddling on the St. Croix, ive been waiting for higher water levels so I can do the Namekagen down to the Mississippi but its been so low around here
Grew up in Mississippi and love the natural beauty of the deep South. It's amazing to see the current is flowing fast even way up there. Under the i20 bridge connecting Louisiana & Mississippi, it always unnerved me a bit
The south and the Lower Mississippi were an amazing part of the experience. Although not as clean and clear as the first couple days on the river its immense size and power is incredible and for a native Minnesotan the experience of camping the banks down south was really neat. Funny thing is, rivers are very "unnerving" to me! I have a natural anxiety when it comes to paddling them but after so many days i start to settle into the flow and relax quite a bit.
Hi there iv been watching the live lock and dam at lock 19 here on youtube and a saw your videos under the video iv just seen your video on how the lock work and liked it so much I just sub you and now started to see a lot more on you channel I've really like your channel already
Appreciate this. I wanted to do a big trip, bike, hike or kayak, recently got into river kayaking and glad to see a solo adventurer like myself taking this on and documenting it.
Hi John! It is an amazing journey. If this is something you are seriously considering make sure you join the Mississippi River Paddlers page on facebook. Hands down the best resource for paddling the river!!!
Id love to do it again! I was just up at Itasca last week and the river is extremely low so hopefully we all get some rain around here or the first few days will be a hike and drag not a paddle
just wish the videos would take off and start being more productive for me! i dont like to fill my videos with please like subscribe and all that jazz as i wanted my videos yo be pure in their form there is trade off for the Heat and the cold when it comes to doing the whole river. If you leave too early the lakes in northern Minnesota could still be Frozen and you'll be dealing with freezing temperatures. But if you leave later in the year the grasslands can be overgrown completely wiping out the main channel of the upper river causing you to get lost. So the balance really comes in the form of when to leave Minnesota. You would almost have to split the trip to make it happen
@@escapewithjay Isn't it crazy how much you miss that feeling of escape by being out there. I bet you really miss it! It sure will change a person's outlook on life.
@@PADDLECAMPFISH o yeah it does, at 62 days on river it is a life style change and the freedom and daily accomplishments are a really exciting thing to experience. I was not checking on news or anything, aside from a few youtube videos and updating people on facebook i had no idea what was going on in the world, and it was amazing!
Pozdrav! Slabo govorim engleski. Govorim hrvatski, srpski i ruski. 🤝🇭🇷
Zdravo!
nice, were they a part of the mississippi river paddlers group on facebook? yeah, please share as much as you like, im happy to be able to bring my story to anyone who wants to see it!
@@dewayneearley9103 Hi Dewayne! i see you had a comment on another video as well about changing boats but yes, i did not carry gear in this boat. only used it for the first 16 miles
Absolutely hooked. Is it possible to this same thing but from Allegheny river in PA, into Ohio River and finally the Mississippi all the way to the Atlantic. Since you started at the actual source of the Mississippi, you obviously had to go through a lot of rocky shallows and get in and out along the way at un navigable stretches. Let me know. Very inspired. Gonna binge watch the whole thing tonight.
ii am not sure about the Allegheny river, maybe contact the local dnr and see if there is a water trail map available for it? i know you can do the ohio down, a dude named joseph solomon has done the ohio to the Mississippi twice now. you can find him on facebook im sure he would answer ohio river questions for ya. "kayaking for a cause" was the facebook group he ran for his trips. hope you enjoy the series!
In the head waters somewhere around 20. After that 20 to 30. After the locks and dams 40 to 50. It really all depended on the heat of the day for me and a few times the weather. I usually kept paddling until i got too warm to continue
The one thing I wish the videos had is time info. Would be helpful to know time of year (date) and time of day at a few points in each video to get a better idea of how long the segments take. Overall though, thanks again for sharing!
I am! If you have any info on prep necessity and anything else I would be greatly appreciative. I am type 1 diabetic and tbh I'm terrified as for it will be a solo mission but none the less I am going down headwaters to the gulf once I feel like I can make it and I am prepared

In the beginning my wife was up in that area and she stayed with the vehicle
