@@revchadbrooks I like it so much I bought one in the imitation leather too. It’s seriously the best Bible I’ve ever used. I cannot overstate how much of a blessing it is to me.
The glue line you are seeing is the way the book block is attached to the leather cover. It is essentially a piece of leather from the cover glued in between the cover sheet and the piece of card stock. It should break in with use so it doesn't stick up as much. I recently got a premium bible and after a few months of frequent use it has broken it and is more flexible.
@@revchadbrooks the front is overcast stitched. They do that so the first signature doesn’t separate from the rest of the book block. Overcast stitching used to be more common than it is today. But a lot of bibles still use it like these finer Zondervans and Oxfords.
The glue papers in the front back are supposed to be just like that👍it's the (edge line) that all the reviewers are talking about in their videos 😂🤣 all premium Bibles will it and I've noticed some lower end one's too. That's a genius Construction because it really helps that cover not fall apart from every day use. I gotta say I love the purple gold gilding 💜💛💜💛
I guess I am learning something new. The front of mine isn't as pronounced as the back, and my Allan doesn't have near as one. Guess I will get used to it.
That Bible is the nicest looking NRSV I've seen. Really only a couple option for high end NRSV bibles for sure. My daily driver is an Abington press bonded leather NRSV that I will eventually make a premium Bible via rebind.
Hello, my husband took his bike to the bookstore to buy maps. So I asked him to pick up a large print Bible that I could keep at our lake. That’s all he has to go by. I’ll see what he gets me. 😅💝 Thank you for this video.
I'm divided on whether or not I want to wait for this same layout to be used with the 2021 updated edition of the NRSV. The downside is that this release doesn't contain the Apocrypha, unlike the current premium NRSVue on the market. The upside is that it has the single-column layout and the cross-references (and a generous enough margin for the occasional scribbled-in note).
This is a beautiful Bible! I received mine today. I see how the extra sewing runs through page 4 of Genesis. Not a problem though. I love the how wide the margins are! Are you going to do much writing in it?
Hey Chad, thanks for your video! I am a ESV, NASB, CSB guy and lately I’ve been having some interest in the NRSV. Why exactly do you like it? Besides being an ecumenical Bible. What do you think about the translation itself? Thoughts? Thanks again!
Hey Armando! Here are a few reasons I dig it. • I'm familiar with it. Used it all through seminary and got really used to the language. • It's the expected translation for academic writing about scripture in many different circles (usually the mainline). • It is a really literal translation, descending from the RSV. You'd be surprised how much it reads like an ESV. • It translates the gender-neutral texts but doesn't stretch the translation philosophy into some other ideological directions (like I feel the CEB does). • Its ecumenical nature is helpful, but more directly in how it doesn't always try to lead down one or two more modern theological paths (like dispensationalism or modern complementarianism)
I ordered this for my birthday, im a lutheran. I prefer nasb/nkjv but i have a large collection of every translation. Nrsv/nrsvue protestant cannon is hard to find. Most the ones in stock are w apocrypha and us protestanrs cant use that. It sucks the NIV kinda overwhelmingly took over and was more favored over nrsv. I wish nrsv was still used more often and produced
Hello, I was wondering if th NRSV Anglicized would be a good complement for my KJV with apocrypha. I'm not offended by gender inclusive or gender neutral text at all. Please, let me know your thoughts if you all are so kind. Cheers from Spain!
John Wesley was a King James Bible Believer! If he could see what the Methodist church has become…..he might “roll over in his grave” if that were posible!
What's important is you use it. Not just a collection but your primary go-to Bible. That's the reason it's premium, because it's FOE LIFE! 😎
I have this Bible and it’s the most readable Bible I own. I love it and am thankful for it.
It is a pretty solid NRSV. I'm happy with it.

Yeah. The back of it is more like what I expected. The front will work out though. Not too worried about it.

@@RoastBeefSandwich Thanks for the info; I had never heard of this book manufacturing technique before.
I've just got a NRSV and love it. I wasn't expecting it to be so readable but it really flows well.

I just ordered a NRSV-UE, I'm looking forward to exploring the undated edition.

It has been a great Bible and I look forward to using it for a long time to come.
Love the purple! And is the Allan the only quality NLT you have found? I am looking for a nice NLT.
Schuyler makes one, and a lot of folks love it. It just isn't in a format that is that interesting to me.
Yes, I just contacted Evangelical Bible and they are going to be taking orders for the NLT in June.

Looks like a gorgeous Bible Chad. Need to check out the NRSV at some point. You are so right, we often need to own up to our boggers 😁

Not much writing in this one!
I have been using the NRSV since 1989. I just received a copy of the NRSVue. So far, love it as well. Oh and I do enjoy the CEB.
Right on!
I appreciate all three translations!
Great review,my translation favourite,Nrsv still used in UK methodist church

How would you say this compares to the NKJV?? that’s what I’m used to using and would like to try something else! ❤

I've never heard someone say a protestant "can't" use the deutero-canonical books. They are even in the Episcopal Daily Office readings occasionally.
Hey when its an NRSV, there are no rules. I suspect Ill try to pick one of these up for Christmas, but will have to get used to single column.
Bro, The single column is amazing.
Now I’ve got the song “Fancy Like” stuck in my head.
That songs was one of the worst things about the summer of 2021
The United Methodist Church has now split up.

That’s slick!
Bro. The Purple and Gold edge is the right kind of fancy.
What do you think of the NRSV updated edition?
Don't really have much experience with it. I have enough NRSV's I haven't felt the need for it.
Glue on? Are you tlaking about the edge lining? I have this Bible and I got it because it is edge lined.
Have you had the chance to try out the NRSVue yet? Any comments?
I’ve seen some examples. I’m going to stick with the NRSV.
LSU colors for you!!😁
CHAD!!!!! tsk tsk tsk........ seriously that bible is hawt! nrsv hey :) hahahhahaha dumpster fire.. yup.
It really needs to not be one of my favorite phrases...
Only Chads read the NRSV.
