- In this tutorial, I'll be showing you step by step on how to assemble the Slattum bed frame from IKEA. This IKEA bed frame is pretty easy to build but if you need some help, this video will guide you along with the instructions.

I recently bought the Bomstad version of the Slattum (the black fake leather version), and I assembled it before watching this video. I must say I was a little bit surprised how easy the assembly was, although I assemble all kinds of furniture for my job (not IKEA). After looking at the manual for a couple of minutes I began assembling it. Most of it went the same as your instruction with a couple of exceptions:
1) After assembling the legs to the headboard and footboard I immediately added the hooks for the wooden slats. This way you can put in the screw sideways instead of underneath, which is slightly easier.
2) Right after assembling the legs to the headboard and foodboard I added anti-scratch felt to protect my laminated floor. This is not included in the package and is an optional step, but this is easier to add at this stage than when you're done assembling the entire bed.
3) When assembling the middle legs I didn't tighten the screws all the way. This way it's easier to later assemble the sidepanels. After assembling the sidepanels I tightened the screws of the middle legs.
4) This part is up to the person who assembles the bed, but both your method and mine work just as well. After sliding in the middel legs to the headboard I chose to slide in the footboard into the rest of the bed before lowering/tilting the bed onto it's legs.
I also have a tip for installing the sidepanels: Do not tighten the screws immediately. First screw all of them in a little bit and after that you can tighten them. When tightening the screws make sure the sidepanels are level with each other.
I have the bed for a couple of weeks now and I have to say it's really sturdy. Also the Bomstad version of the Slattum looks fancier and is easier to clean (the normal Slattum is made with polyester cloth).
This tutorial video is really good, especially for people that find it hard to read manuals (I can't blame them, some manuals really are boobytrapped puzzles).

Impeccable, perfectly explained, it's wonderful to ve these videos, IKEA should facilitate this kind of video tutorials and not those drawings of yesteryear that make you look like the same doll on each furniture s item at the beginning until the end. For me, the legs from the center rail do touch the floor unless there is weight put on top. Is this normal? Everything has been assembled properly :( so i can't figure out what's causing this

@@BrendaHuerta7 hard for me to say I haven't slept in it I just got it from my son who is occasionally sleeping over from out of town. He said it was comfortable enough. It seems sturdy enough although I'm not sure it would really hold up to a large adult for any length of time it would probably be fine for a toddler

I bought it last month and a few days later, it started to squeak. Really annoying and disappointing!
Any ideas on how to fix this issue that does not involve buying extra materials to solve a problem that shouldn't exist? Are the squeaks made by the friction between the slats and the iron parts?
Unfortunately I got a different model, and faced the same issue.. Was not able to fix it.

Can someone advise please.. Is this bed frame sturdy or will it wobble and squeak a lot?
I have mine for about 2 weeks now. It's very sturdy and doesn't wobble. I've read a couple of reviews on the site of IKEA that say it's squeaking, but most reviews don't mention it. My bed doesn't squeak (yet), but I also have a brand new hard mattress.
I bought mine last month and a few days later, it started to squeak. Really annoying and disappointing!

Is it normal that it squeaks all the time? I put it together 2 weeks ago and it was perfect but as days went by the long bar in the middle started to squeak A LOT! It’s unbearable

I hope you read this quickly, can you answer this question accurately please: my mattress is 25 cm high, how high will I be off the ground? Like how deep exactly do the wooden slides sit inside the frame? IKEA's website doesn't provide this critical (at least to me) piece of information
