iMac 25.1" mid 2011, added 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD, Sonoma was still slow. Now I'm trying Ventura and gonna work my way back until there's no lag with the mouse and browser.
@DAMCARTER1 no I didn't create any partition . Did you try to do an upgrade from your current os to macos Sonoma ? I remember I had the same error on mine when I tried to install Sonoma as an upgrade . The solution to this is to make a fresh installation of Sonoma which means you have to completely erase your SSD
Thanks for your great video! Question - do you have a video that covers how to make bootable backups of OCLP macOS installs on unsupported macs using something like SuperDuper or CCC? Is there some trick to get this to work? Is it even possible?
Thanks for your feedback! If I understand your question correctly, you want to let's say install macos on a unsupported device by using a backup from a different machine . For example if you create a backup from a MacBook pro mid 2012 then to load that backup to a MacBook air early 2014 ... I've got a feeling that it won't work because I remember when I installed macos big Sur on a MacBook air late 2010 using a bootable usb which I created using a MacBook pro mid 2012 I got a notification on the MBA that the OCLP that I installed was created for a different machine however it prompted me to install the correct OCLP for that MBA. With that being said I'll test it out and make a video on that and find out if it is possible or not 😊
@@sdyt263 No, I mean a bootable backup of the freshly installed OCLP OS. So, yesterday, I successfully installed Sonoma on my 2013 MacBook Pro and I am now trying to figure out how to make a bootable backup of my MacBook like I used to when it was running Mojave. I tried making a backup with both CCC and SD which seems to have worked, but they are not bootable backups, so I can't test them by booting up from them....
I must be doing something wrong. I have a 2014 MacBook Air. I've created the OpenCore 14.3 boot USB drive with Sonoma. When it installs, it doesn't recognize my wifi, trackpad, or keyboard. I can use a USB mouse only. I don't know what to do next.
Are you able to login after the installation? If yes then open OCLP and install post installation patches . On the other hand if your aren't able to login then along with the mouse you will need a keyboard as well so you can type in any password you might have
Hi So is it possible to install sonoma on a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro 9.2 running on 4GB Ram?? As i’ve been trying but it gets stuck on Apple Logo with no Loading Bar for hours upon installation ??
In theory it is but it isn’t a good idea to do it while you still have 4GB ram. When i got my MacBook Pro mid 2012 9.2 it had 8 gb ram and 750 gb spinning hard drive. So i did upgrade the ram to 16gb and i replaced the spinning hard drive with an ssd and then i installed macos Sonoma. I reccomend you to do the same just so you will have a good experience because 4gb of ram isn’t enough and maxing the ram on MBP mid 2012 is quite affordable
Oh okay it is because I tried but installing it but it gets stuck on apple logo with no loading bar on installation But for now is there another version you recommend??
Have you solved the problem. I have found the solution if you still haven’t solve yours yet. Once you have installed MacOS Sonoma, don’t reboot your laptop. Open OCL patches and patch them yo your EFI booting disk and the reboot. It will solve the problem.
Once you have the OCLP on a usb boot your MacBook from the usb . It will send you to the disk utility. From there you format your SSD and do a fresh install

Is the external keyboard usb 3.0 or 2.0? What MacBook you got mate ? Your machine supports usb 1.1 which means in order to be able to use an external keyboard you need to use a usb hub and that will make the external keyboard functional again . Use the keyboard until you are able to log in to your machine and install the post installation patches . Once that is done you should be able to use the inbuilt keyboard of your machine

Have you updated OCLP to 1.4.2? If yes have you done the required restart by holding the option key and select EFI boot? According to dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/SONOMA-DROP.html#issues Once the installation of the os and the post installation patches are done you should be able to use your keyboard without any issues

@legendaryadmin3131 you can try Ventura or Monterey
