Not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you're bored like me atm you can watch pretty much all of the new series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my gf for the last months =)
Serpent76 it depends on whether I have cushcore installed. Without cushcore I go 25 on the front and 33 in the rear. The rear is pretty high out here because the high pressure saves rims and tires from pinch flats and taco rims because of the terrain. With cushcore I cut that down quite a bit.

Hi outdoor gold, I'm thinking of doing a custom build on the SB 150 & would like to put the new Rockshox Lyric 160 up front instead of the 170 which would steepen the head Angle by I think 0.5 deg to 65 this would make a good balance ! Would it climb a little better ? 160 upfront would for me be spot on ! My last bike was Yeti SB 5.5 turq magic bike ! Cheers guys Love what your doing on your channel 👍🏞️🌲🌲🚵🌲🌲⛰️
Thanks Andrew. I know a guy that's been running a 160 fork on his SB150. I've ridden the bike and honestly, I notice the difference, but just barely on the downhill. The bike climbs well in general anyway, but it you are looking for a slight advantage on the climb then do so. Also with the Lyrik you can buy the fork at whatever travel, pretend a 160 and if you don't like it you can buy a $40 airspring and change it to 170.
Very well done review!! Also, you rode the shit out of that bike! Lol that's really awesome to see it tested at those three locations, every bike should be reviewed like that!
Agreed...all three routes represent a wide range of topography that could represent most rider's conditions. I'm in eastern PA and we have tonsss of rocks, drops, roots, chutes and also bits of smoother buffed out single track front time to time.
Great video!! I have just one thing to ask... Ive seen some people say that the sb130 and the 150 climbs pretty much the same and there is no reasom to actually get the 130.. Do you agree? Or do you think the 130 really is more suitable for climbs and longer rides
There are alot of ways to break this down. I'm not going to agree that they climb the same. Shorter travel bikes have always climbed better in my opinion especially on technical terrain where you need finesse to clear a feature. If the climb is on long fire roads and two track than it doesn't matter. Thats why I included Moore Fun in the circuit with tons of short range tech. I found the 100 to be the easiest to climb with followed by the 130 and lastly the 150.
Best in depth review I have seen, nice job man. My sweet spot is 140 / 160 travel. I love my sight dpx 2 factory with a size up volume spacer and factory 36 with only one token up front, but been thinking of adding another token. Might as well try it out, part of the fun I guess.
Thanks a bunch Thim! Stickers are en route btw. I would love to get my hands on a dpx2 for my SB6. The Float X2 is awesome, but it adds some weight and I feel that the DPX2 can give me similar performance, plus, a cheaper rebuild cost. I personally think that 140/160 is exactly where you want to be! If you get the MRP Ramp Control you don't need volume tokens no more! I love mine!
Curious to compare this to my daily and my only bike, a 2018 Intense Carbine with a Works angleset 2 degree headset and an assortment of other goodies. My one gripe with my Carbine is the slack seattube angle and I’m really wanting to try and make up for it just for comfort on those longer daily rides that I enjoy doing. I actually had a Yeti 5.5C and ride that for a time, but in the end I decided that I disliked the seattube angle and felt the headtube angle was too steep and never felt comfortable on the descents. Riding my Carbine with its now 63.5 degree headtube angle, 44mm offset 160mm fork, 1244mm wheelbase, 445mm chainstays, 74.25 seattube angle, 341mm BB height, 30mm length stem, slammed saddle, Eagle GX/X01 drivetrain, truvativ Carbon 175mm cranks, HT X2 pedals, DH casing DHF front and rear and ENVE M930 rims it is a phenomenal bike. Weighs 33 lbs so it’s no feather weight but I can get to the top with enough umph left to rip and tear on the descents and have fun. It’s not the most comfortable when climbing on those longer rides but as long as the descent is worth it then I’ll keep going to get to the top. I’m just left wanting something a little bit better. For reference, this is my one and only hobby and passion. I’m 5’8 and my Intense frame is a size large As I enjoy the large cockpit and sprawling wheelbase as at speed it is stable and sturdy. I’ve been considering selling my frame to swap my parts over to a new frame. What does scare me about the SB150 is actually compromising and losing that degree in the headtube versus my Carbine and not having that same level of comfort on the descents. This weekend I actually emailed Works UK to find if they make angleset headset of theirs that would work in the Yeti SB150 headtube to have that same headtube angle or even go so far as to slacken it even further and go to 62.5 degrees. I’m also considering upstroking the rear shock to get more travel out of it and to compensate have to then use a slightly smaller rear tire. Thoughts?
I have a buddy that has a Works headset on his bike and those sound pretty sweet! I’d have to do more research and I’m not going to go out of my way to talk trash about the carbine. But I though 64.5 degrees was abundantly slack. Lol I’ll have to look into it.
Outdoor Gold - stock the Carbine has a 65.5 degree headtube angle and the Yeti SB150 with a 64.5 and the Transition Sentinel with a 64. I’ve never ridden a proper DH bike on dirt or anywhere other than just on the sidewalk, but the slack head angle always made me curious as to how slack can you make a trail bike before it adversely affects its performance. So far from riding my Carbine and the few times I descended with it before the snow and winter set in, its performance was making me smile while descending. VPP isn’t something that everyone gets along with and there were a couple other tweaks that I had to fix to overcome to me some of the shortcomings of the Carbine, but for now it rides amazingly well. I’m just left with a slack seattube angle that I wish I could rectify somehow with no compromise to its current performance. Still definitely wanting to upstroke it to obtain more travel in the rear.
I love it! Great video! Those Yetis are gorgeous! I'm glad we're seeing bikes getting longer. Everyone seemed to be in a contest to make the shortest chainstays but that's the opposite of what you want in steep descents or steep ascents. But I agree, that's a lot of bike for most trails. It looked at home on Free Lunch but overgunned on others. Such an awesome video, RC! 🤘😎🤘
Great looking bikes, I personally like them alot and Yeti Cycles has always been really good to me with their customer service. You're spot on with your analysis, great for Free Lunch and park, surprising at how well it performed on the easy and slow trails. But yeah, its alot of bike! Thanks Shawn!
Thanks Kevin M! Welcome aboard, your comment snuck past me. Yes Ruby Canyon does rent out bikes such as the 100, 130, 150 etc. Be sure to call ahead you can have one!
excellent review!! 11:50 is Yeti's SB150 worst nightmare. I have the feeling that other bikes wouldn't bottom touch if you do such drop slowly with forks first and sit behind your back wheel? I did trails that had such drop after a steep decent with a turn and having speed was not an option. In that occasion brakes where let off just before the drop. You would probably have to front hop the bike in that occasion to gain some more bottom bracket clearance. Other than that, the bike is awesome.
Thanks a bunch Athos M! Unfortunately all other bikes would bottom on the crank if you tried to "roll" that feature. The way its sits, it requires the technique of pedaling into it while pulling up on the front tire on any bike. So the message i'm trying to convey is that with poor execution of riding the 150 into that section could show that kind of result. But the mass majority of people wouldn't be able to ride that section anyway. But yeah, outside of that and leaning forward to turn the bike, its a sweet ride!
That was a Gold review dude🤘 Great job with the different types of trails. Sure, it's an enduro bike, but we all can't afford a different bike for each style of trail we may ride. Happy Trails bro
Nailed it Russell! Besides Spam on Denali, I've been an advocate for downsizing to the 120-130 mm rear travel range for good riders that want to enjoy little bit of everything on a premium and playful bike. Thanks man!
In flowy bermy corners is practically rides itself. In slow techy corner, it take some practice leaning the front of the bike into those, I feel you definitely have to be assertive with it.
I don't normally watch bike review videos because they are usually limited in the type of trails the reviewer rides many only approach the bike from their riding style even if they say they are not. This was one of the few reviews that was more comprehensive and I didn't feel it was riding style biased.
Thanks a bunch AZDirtLife, I gambled on the long format, but thought it would be worth it to show what a bike like this can do and a variety of terrain, something we are really lucky to have in Fruita/Grand Junction. Thanks for the great feedback!
My starting MTB1 is a 2017 Yeti SB6, which I love. I would definitely want to get my hands on the 2019 version of the SB6 if afforded the opportunity! I'd have to read up on it, I'm not sure there are too many differences, but it does have integrated internal routing which I would die to have on my SB6.
Hi it's Andy from the UK again, remember discussing with you thoughts on having a 160 fork instead of 170 fork upfront on the SB 150 I know it will steepen the head Angle by about 0.5 deg to near 65 ! How much will drop the BB height Many thanks as always for your thoughts ! 👍😎👌
Its tough to say because with suspension, you very rarely would ever be in full travel because of the rider weight. The biggest differences are going to be in +20 mm increments. The increase in travel is going to be most notable when the suspension is uncompressed usually from drops, manuals, or jumps. But obvious yes, lowering the travel will marginally lower the BB height, by how much I don't know. Still, the SB150 would see a less significant impact because of the long wheel base.
Sizing question - Ive ridden a Medium sb6 for the past 3 seasons. Love the bike, wanted to try the sb150 this season, did you find the same sizing on the sb150 vs sb6? Im up in Telluride and no ones got one to throw a leg over yet up here....
I’m not going to lie, I’m not a sizing expert, but I can say that a large sb150 felt like it fit perfectly for me, I’m 6’1” where as my 6 feels like it’s in the smaller end of the large frame if that makes sense.
I like your review a lot, would love to see more such in depth reviews from you, just subscribed. will check your other vids as well. btw I see one more deal breaker for me - cleaning of switch infinity stamchios. those things need to be wiped clean after each ride. with how accesible it is, no, thank you. check some old vids from Alex Chamberlin to see what happens if SI is neglected...
Thanks send it! Greatly appreciate the support! I wouldn't keep let the SI link scare you, I have one on my flagship SB6 that I've been running for the last 2 years. I never clean mine after every ride, I just keep it greased it twice a season (2 spring, 2 summer, 2 fall) zero problems. If I remember correctly, AC was riding a lot of wet, and didn't keep it greased on schedule to the conditions? That said, not staying up on the maintenance and neglecting the bike linkage in general no matter what it bike is will lead to the same results.
It can do it all! Gnarly trail, shuttle epics like the whole enchilada, and park. Gets the business done and allows all of us to grow as riders on the platform!
Yeti. yeti, yeti yeti yeti yeti yeti. Yeti yeti Yeti Yeti? I mean, yeti yeti yeti yeti yeti yeti yeti. YETI! yeti yeti yeti yeti, and yeti. If you yeti yeti yeti yeti, then yeti, do you yeti yeti yeti yeti? YETI? Y......E.....T....I. Climbs like a Yeti, descends like a yeti. YETI!!!!!! One of the more thorough reviews I've seen, nice work RC. YETI.
It looks like a large water bottle will interfere with the shock as it compresses. Did you notice any problems with this? Nice review. I like the drone footage.
This is a great observation on your side Ed Erler. There's always going to be something I miss and that's one. With my wattlebottle and the cage that came with the bike, I did see some minor rubbing on the decals of the X2. This was already an issue prior me riding the bike. Other than the minor rubbing on a bottom out, it didn't impact the ride. Anybody riding this bike would have to run an adjustable position water bottle cage to get the cage lower or downsize the waterbottle to prevent the rubbing. Either way, great catch, thanks Ed.
Perhaps in the future, obviously there are some key difference, the wheel size, the linear SB6 vs. more progressive 130 and 150. And obviously right now, the 130 and 150 have all the new updated bells and whistles. I'm a huge 27.5" fan, but right now. I have to give the advantage to the new 29ers.
@@OutdoorGold Thanks for the reply! I'm currently riding a Yeti 575. I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a leftover 2018 sb6. Your reviews of the sb130 & sb150 have made pause on the sb6. Are they that much better than the sb6?
Let me say this real quick, I’m curious to see if Yeti will release the updated additions of the 27.5” lineup next summer such as an “SB6” with with all the new features that the 29ers have. But, the clearance prices right now are very appealing, in fact, that’s how I got my SB6, a clearance frame. This should ultimately come down to a bankroll decision, but I would take the sb130 or 150 if money wasn’t the issue or wait and see if Yeti will introduce new 27.5” lineups later in 2019.
Thanks a bunch Juan Romero, I've heard of such reports though I did not experience or note any issues even with 2.5 tires. I would not be surprised if the rear triangle flex issues I heard of were a result of the "bike break in period" likely a new bike that needed the bolts reseated. Thats been the case on every new bike I've owned.
I would love to ride the HD4 in the future, but I've never ridden the Mojo 4. The key differences is the SB150 is A) a 29er, the HD4 is a 27.5 so there will be obvious differences there B) a touch more slack (more stable downhill) C) it has a steeper seat tube gets you an optimal climbing position despite it being so slack. D) the Mojo works the DW Link which I believe is a single pivot suspension design, which I like a lot on the downhill. I can't have any opinions until I ride and HD4, but either way, I would anticipate it being a sick bike and there are some good deals on the HD4 running right now.
Hell yeah Eric! Its not the perfect test and review, but it is what it is! I REALLY liked the SB150, and its one of the best bikes I've ever ridden with a very high ceiling.
In CO, there is definitely a stigma and culture around it! Thats a fact! I'm sure that's the case when you get to the Phoenix with Pivot or Santa Cruz with their bikes! LOL In GJ me and many in my biker gang run GJ based MRP only products and Pedaling Innovations oversized pedals.
it was a great review “BUT” i wish someone would review the entry level bikes you know the ones people can afford and not the $10000 one the yeti sb150 has the gx entry level that has great components but nobody is showing it come on lets get real
Old MTB Rider Thanks a bunch! Very interesting and though provoking comment. I will say this. For this specific build this was all that was available to me, but honestly this review was focus on just the bike with the right specs for components. I run alot of GX in my stable in regular everyday rides and I do love the GX and or XT equivalent components which are all still quite expensive. I would have to do individual test and reviews of components on like Fox performance elite vs. factory or X01 vs. Nx in seperate videos. Either way, I've always been an advocate of a custom builds from the frame up. Component quality will impact a ride, but not the true nature of the bike in my opinion.

The orange looks pretty.
Broncos colors out in this part of the world!
That was a Gold review dude🤘
Great job with the different types of trails.
Thanks man!
how is it in the corners apart from what you mentioned for example is it easy to lean it into corners ?
Nice pit vippahs mate
I like to bring the party to the trails! lol Sunglasses for real trail snakes!
Great review. have you tested the 2019 sb6?
My starting MTB1 is a 2017 Yeti SB6, which I love. I would definitely want to get my hands on the 2019 version of the SB6 if afforded the opportunity! I'd have to read up on it, I'm not sure there are too many differences, but it does have integrated internal routing which I would die to have on my SB6.
Hi it's Andy from the UK again, remember discussing with you thoughts on having a 160 fork instead of 170 fork upfront on the SB 150 I know it will steepen the head Angle by about 0.5 deg to near 65 ! How much will drop the BB height
Many thanks as always for your thoughts !
Many thanks for your help ! Happy riding !!! 👍😎🌲🌲🚵🌲🌲
@@OutdoorGold very true, thanks
Would you recommend this bike for mainly trail riding with occasional bike park days?
YETI.
Really helping with that SEO 😂🤘
Yeti, yeti, eddy the yeti......I'm hoping that will work with the search engine lol hahaha thanks Matt!
Thanks for the reply. I have to compliment you again on your video. I watched it twice because the footage, sound and editing was awesome. 👍
Can you compare the SB6 to the 130 and 150?
How's the the rear clearance for a 2.4 or 2.5 tire 'cause they spec a 2.3?
In my SB130 we threw on a 2.6 Specialized something lol I forgot what it was, but 2.4 or 2.5 wouldn't be a problem!
GOLDDDD!!!!!!
Speaking of GOLD! Gotta work on collecting the footage of the Tagg Man being a Bad Man on the trails, earning goldstars and stuff for instagram!
Outdoor Gold haha yessirrrr
Thank you for the review!! did you notice any tire rubbing in the rear triangle or weird flex there as some users are reporting?? cheers again!
How would you compare this bike to the Ibis HD4?
Phenomenal test ride. This is the most comprehensive(3 terrain types) test ride I've seen so far on an SB 150. I'm getting mine tomorrow.
Hell yeah Eric! Its not the perfect test and review, but it is what it is! I REALLY liked the SB150, and its one of the best bikes I've ever ridden with a very high ceiling.
Can I come compete in the outdoor gold enduro? Great review man!
MTB FlowRider you have a revolving invitation to ride the Outdoor Gold Enduro any time you’d like!
Might have missed it...but this is a large size and how tall are you?
6'1" maybe 6'2" if I spend a day in the space station. Large was my size, no question bout it
@@OutdoorGold Thanks! At 5'10" ish, I definitely need to demo a medium, as well as a large...
Tim Fritz I think you should start with a large frame. I think medium sizing starts around 5’8”ish, and then go from there. Good luck! 🍀
@@OutdoorGold sounds good, will try large for sure!
Hell ya! 💪
BCC!!!! Thanks for the support! Always good to see ya in the comments!
Can you review the sb130?
Spoilers: its coming as well as the SB100. The 130 will have a similar circuit but the 100 might have an alternative to Free Lunch.
I can now retire from RUclips... You. ARE. The. Review God 🤘
I want to see him carry a suitcase of 100's into RCC and walk out with that bike. That would be original. Wait.
@@keithkiggins2531 😂
I would need a really really big suitcase for this purchase lol Sheyn you can't retire! You're the bike review inspiration and master!
RIGOROUS! Ohhhhh man!
Rigorous! had to break out the thesaurus on that one!
👌! What more can I say?
🤜🤛 just like that!
31+ lbs? My 6k HTLT was 30 flat....
Depends if your SC HTLT has a Float X2 or air can with a piggy back dropper size.... etc. Sounds like a solid bike though!
Congrats, but I'll take the SB150 over the Frankenbike Year 1 HTLT ANY DAY.
Guess I should ride this thing then... 🤟
7 grand with shit gx components... no kashima drop post lousy rims steem and xt two pistons brakes ... thats BULL SHIT... there are better bikes.
Lots of great bikes out there!
First!!!!
JF Rides I knew I could count on you!!!
Dang it!
@@huntstyle LOL hahaha next time!
Great review but it’s still a yeti 😏😫. It just seems like the yeti riders on the front range are a bit douchey haha.
So 130 or 150????
Spoilers: I like the 150 the most, but if I had to pick, the 130.
