Please check how many of the jobless IIT students got admission based on reservation. Even if a student manages to get admission because of their birth, the market will not accept poor performers.

What are the SC/ ST/ OBC students contributing to campus placement in IIT's and IMM's ? Any data ?
On IITs and engineering, I am a history masters degree holder and working in IT and working alongside engineers and MBAs and dont have a disadvantage or my colleagues don't have an upperhand to me. Worth thinking about it, right?

IITs are losing luster as the current pool of students are not as solid as their 1970-2000's older brethren and sisters had established their credentials around the world by dint of their own efforts. There is a problem with the present Indian university teaching curriculum that is not up to date by the world standards. The students need to take advantage of the RUclips resources to upgrade and strengthen their foundation instead of frittering away their time in politics, multimedia and other inconsequential issues. The world is becoming ultra competitive in every aspects of job market and higher education. One needs to display ones strengths to become marketability in ultra competitive international markets. No point flaunting IIT or IIM degrees and expect to earn a lucrative job. Good luck with job with your individual auto didactic efforts .

IITians used to ignore the motherland and always preferred overseas employers. It was the second grade engineering colleges which used to supply engineers for even organizations like ISRO. So, why complain now. It's no more just academics but a lot more to become a good engineer. IITians should go for research type of jobs. They can do better there. Don't just stick to high pays.
