I mean Jesters' child like faith started him on the path to become a god. I like to think he was planing on gifting her with the power of a fey warlock and he was just as shocked when she manifested the powers of a cleric. they are just two childhood best friends trying to figure this all out.
I like to think of it as your best friend coming to you and going "I am tired of this place lets blow this joint just hop in the car and go somewhere else."
I'm worried someone is going to spike the Koolaid at Travelercon (or everyone would because they are all pranksters and think "oh it'd be fun If I added just a LIIIIITLE ..." but because EVERYONE did it, it's a poisonous concoction.
@@jamesbearss8547 In the first campaign, Vox Machina were warned by Artagan (in the form of Garmelie) about something called The Theater. They never encountered it in the campaign episodes but it was described as a place in the Feywild where if you were caught watching by the ghosts performing there you'd be enthralled and forced to watch and eventually participate forever. However, if I'm not mistaken, they did encounter it during the one-year story hiatus.
Jesters and the Traveler BFFs (Best Friends Forever). Jesters main concern is if your not a god are we not going to hang out anymore and the Travelers response oh no I would take you with me.
Anyone else getting the feeling That Artagan is going to suffer from "Travelers Dogma" ie he makes the people believe he's ascended beyond the divine gate and then actually ascends beyond the divine gate?!
I just can't help but love Artagan (which is very similar to the word antagonist, let's be real) and it's down to the way Matt plays him. I know he's gonna do them all so dirty, but I love the chaos and the charisma. Similar to the way we love essik. What a fucking asshole. War criminal. But awwwww he's a fuck up so he's perfect. The shades of grey in this campaign run DEEP. These clips have been keeping me going during these crappy times. It won't last forever. Travellercon will happen soon!
I trust the traveler even less now. He isn't good or evil, just easily bored and very chaotic. The moment he gets bored with playing being a God, and he no longer has use for Jester he is gonna ditch her without a care. Jester heard it from his own mouth, he has no problem tricking and even killing his own worshippers for the simple fact he is lazy and wants little to do with them. This is a cult and it's gonna end bloody. But it's storywise interesting because Jester is getting into her own arc. She is gonna have to deal with a Fjord situation. This episode has shown how much she craves being powerful, far more so then any other follower of her cult. She desires and being heavily influenced by Artagan's very nature, who pretty much would choke a bitch if it was a slow Thursday night just to find something to do. I feel like Jester is gonna need to come to a crossroad where she is gonna have to choose between Artagan or her friends.
He's clearly self-absorbed and enjoys chaos. Jester is the same way only to a lesser degree. I think they'll be a good fit for each other. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if Artagan has plans for Jester to be his future "companion".
We will see next week, but it honestly sounds like his intentions are rather pure. Just like he choked vax to death to see what it felt like, he founded a religion just to see what it was like. His first follower was amazing, so he got more, but they ended up being too demanding and now hes bored with the whole thing. If anything, im getting the sneaking feeling that the Traveler plans to sew one last bit of chaos by hijacking Jesters festival at traveller con. He keeps saying that most of her power comes from her, not him, what if the Traveler appears, tells his worshipers the Jester is in charge now and bamfs away. Now, he no longer has to worry about ANY worshipers and doesnt even have to give power to Jester since the Traveler followers will start giving her power like she were a deity. Hes free to come and go completely at his leisure, visiting Jester from time to time of course....
I have a theory. So, here it goes. The traveler is going to attempt to take jester for him self and make her leave the party. Basically jester is going to have to pick either the traveler or the party. Jester has known the traveler for a longer time and has been there for her when she needed him. But jester has grown a connection with the party...... So in theory, our beloved jester might have a predicament in play later in the campaign. Please note : I don't actually watch critical role episodes. Just these little highlights from this awesome channel. So I might be completely wrong or who know. I might be horribly absurdly wrong. It's one or the other.
I know people are expecting Artagan to turn on Jester, but I kinda want to see him give her a ton of powers at the end and just set her loose. I think she holds more potential to him alive than dead, especially since she's proven to be incredibly chaotic and crafty. Unless jester tries to "settle down" and makes herself super boring to him, I don't see him giving her the axe. Remember, the only reason Artagan strangled Vax to death was because he said he couldn't die- I don't think he'll risk a similar disappointment with killing her.
It would have been cool if they said that the Traveler shows his blessings by presenting “opportunities“. That way people would be subconsciously looking for something and thanking him for it without him needing to really do anything.
C3 should have a widespread religion about an ubergod of chaos that stands above all pantheons and blue tiefling clerics of that god get +1 on all saving throws.
This may seem wierd but i think Artagan is inevitably going get bored with Jester and his following and betray her, causing her to get eventually kill him and take his place
like a bit more and jester will become like some kind of trickster demi-god orimary follower the traveller with new found powers we will see giant dicks graffiti in each of the biggest castles of every city
Jester's actual God came to her to ask how to run a religion...
That is funny as hell.

The Traveler wants to take Jester across the multiverse on Dr. Who style adventures.
I love that Jester and the Travelers are both we should just lie to everybody what lie can we tell them.
NO THEATER! (Best part)
Am I missing like an in joke or was that just off the cuff? Either way its hilarious

Jester is starting the MLM where she's already a mega platinum ultra member, oh nooooo.

Yep

This whole conversation just makes me worry.

They got permission from Bethesda to use it as background music about 20 episodes into season 1.
Why do I feel like in the not so distant future Jester will have to make the very hard choice between Mighty Nine and Artagan?
I have a theory. So, here it goes.

In other words: He's gonna pull a David Bowie in Labyrinth. Maybe?
As a fan of that movie, I would be most intrigued if it goes that direction.
Welp, to quote Taliesin: *FUCK OFF, David Bowie!
6:43 one of the best moments of Campaign 2 in my opinion

I feel like the traveler is actually Cyric in disguise. But, idk. He could also be a guy, suddenly a god and is freaking out about it.
He literally says his name "Artagan" at 0:45.
I know that. I'm just saying, he could be and Matt's fucking with all of us. Like always!
