Hi Simon and thanks for the comment. Yes originally I was going to go down to London and then on from Paddington, but i was a bit limited by time in the end and you will see in the later videos of this weekend, I was pretty tired by the end of it! I think the Starcross to Dawlish bit, the Tamar crossing and Lostwithiel area were my favourite bits. Btw, Paddington will feature in the next leg (and the bear himself!).
Thanks Yakkun. Yes I definitely recommend it, like I say, make sure you sit on the side of the train overlooking the sea and you can’t go far wrong. Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Cheers Yakkun, many thanks for your support. I was supposed to go to Prague last year (on the train from London). Had everything booked and then of course it all went a bit ‘difficult’! Maybe next year though, I hear it’s a beautiful city.
Hi Mark have done this trip several times from Paddington on HST first class like LNER Azuma first class not worth the extra cost coaches to basic. Enjoyed the trip.
Hi Tony, cheers for the comment and yes I tend to agree, based on my experience anyway. Don’t know if it’s improved much and with LNER it very much depends which service you’re on as to what you’ll get in first class food-wise.
Thanks Olly. Yes, my first time down there and I definitely recommend it if you get the chance. It was so good, I went back a couple of weeks later to do some of the branch lines. Those videos will be coming out probably in a couple of months time. Cheers.

Hiya Debra. Yes you know I think it’s the same for me and I’ve always lived here on this small island. I can’t wait to be taking long-haul trips again but in the meantime there’s plenty of places to visit and make videos of around here. Interesting comment about Italian villages because I think once you cross over the Tamar into Cornwall the whole atmosphere seems to change - almost like time slows down somehow. I love it!
Love the Dawlish Sea Wall line! Stayed in Dawlish Warren in 2020 & 2021 and would do so again this year but the price of the flat has shot up to a ridiculous level! We're going to Exmouth instead! The Marine Tavern in Dawlish is a great place to watch the trains with a pint (Avocet Ale's my favourite!) on the roof patio, overlooking the line!
Full fat Coke Mark? Tut tut.... That lemon cake sounds lovely though. Good music. Great train (my compadre might disagree 😂) and I like the colours too... Another let's make a trip masterpiece 😍🙏🏻

Great pictures and good music - what a route! Like you I prefer curtains. The problem with blinds is that they are usually shared between two seats whereas a curtain can be drawn across your section of the window. Curtains need a rail at the bottom to stop them flapping about when the train twists and turns.

GWR h@vent provided sandwiches in First for many years, In 2004 I think on a Friday afternoon they gave you a glass of wine but they even charged £2 or £3 for some porridge on a breakfast service in First.
