The sentiments about Paschendale and the Somme still ring through some families. My grandfather lied about his age to go off to fight alongside his older brother. They both fought in the Somme and whilst my grandfather came home, his brother fell. 😢 My grandfather died from the effects of the mustard gas, but it took until Christmas Eve 1955; eighteen years before I was born for the effects to claim him...!!! 😢 What Grandad is talking about in the shelter was very well written and was very poignant...!!!
