And since she is a Christian, the gravity of it is heavier, since Christian marriage is a triangle. You don't love each other because they are lovable, you love each other through loving Christ, and the more you reflect Christ in your life, the easier it is to love and forgive.
That's what's make it possible to still love the unlovable, since you don't let their mistakes ruin you choices and commitments.
We should choose to love also in times when it is hard to love. Problem is you can't do that if you rely on yourself or your partner.
That's why Christian marriage is a covenant, and not just a contract like others.
