    Thanks for the in-depth description clarifying how all of this stuff works . It's great that companies and people like you are sharing this information. But with the variety of wiring options, and the advent of the TYPE-A+B LEDs, which tube do you think is or will be the most popular and (really the bottom line) the most manufactured and economical type of LED tube for T12 & T8 type lighting fixtures in the future, barring the introduction of another "better" lighting option? I'm new to these conversions and am on information overload right now so much that it's taking me back to the days of the BETA vs VHS debacle! 😱 I personally like the single-end TYPE-B just because it's seems the most simplest. I would just like to know which direction we're going before I start yanking down my old T-12s and Frankenstein-ing them into T-8 LEDs! 😄
    Thanks again for your presentation. It's greatly appreciated!

      You're very welcome! Glad our video was helpful 🙂 We hear from many electricians that favor the dual end retrofit method as it utilizes the existing fixture components and provides a faster conversion. So it saves time and money. Type A+B helps remove the guess work out of the equation for DIYers and provides a very easy way to get into LED. But like most things when something works great, provides good benefits and it isn't very costly it tends to grow in popularity and use, pushing costlier alternatives out. Both provide great benefits but it ultimately comes down to the projects requirements. Hope that helps 😊

    This is a great detailed video for led conversion, thanks very much for posting. Does it matter (once a two lamp fixture has been converted and the ballast removed) which end of the A+B bulb goes to the hot side vs neutral, or can it be turned either way as long as the led strip is at the top facing down? Thanks again

    • @Totallightingsupply
      @Totallightingsupply  Год назад +1

      For our T8 LED lamps the direction doesn't matter. Now this may be different for other brands. Hope that helps 🙂

    Once you have made the conversion will you always need to use the hybrid type A/B led bulbs from the point forward? I have converted my Mom’s second fixture with the aid of this video and both are working perfectly. Thanks again for posting!

    • @Totallightingsupply
      @Totallightingsupply  Год назад +1

      What type of LED bulb you use will depend on which retrofit method you use. So for example if you use the double end retrofit method you can use the A/B universal led bulbs or type B double end powered LED tubes used in this video in the fixture 🙂

    This video was very informative. But my question is how do you bypass the ballast for light fixtures that are daisy chained. I have two extra fixtures and the main one coming from the ceiling wiring. I’m having trouble trying to locate a video or understanding how to do this. All the Videos I’ve seen are for 1 fixture bypasses. Can you help me or attach a link to a video?? Thanks.

      It's very challenging to troubleshoot these types of wiring situations without being there. One of the best place to start is with our form. It walks you through some of the most common issues. I believe it deals with daisy chained fixtures. You can find that guide here www.totalbulklighting.com/fast-fluorescent-to-led-t8-conversion-tool.html

      unfortunately there are many variables that have impacted the sale of these amazing T8 LED tubes. One of the biggest issues is the amount of breakage in shipping on small orders. No matter how well we packaged these tubes the shipping company managed to break them over and over and over. Hopefully that helped shed some light on the question 🙂

    Wattage: What would you say is the difference between a 5000k led bulb with 18w and a 20w 5000k led bulb in terms of brightness and electricity consumption?

    • @Totallightingsupply
      @Totallightingsupply  7 месяцев назад +1

    I have a 4 ft 2 ballast florescent fixture. From each ballast comes 2 red 2 blue 2 yellow. How do i rewire with no ballasts with double end bulbs. I have the ability for on and off from 2 different switches. Either one makes the entire light come on or off

    • @Totallightingsupply
      @Totallightingsupply  3 года назад

      This is called "three way switching". There are a number of ways this is wired, and we cannot explore all of them here. Best thing is to get your electrician on the job and in 10 minutes he will know where the hot and neutral wires are that come in the fixture and will be able to wire up your retrofit quick. As long as he knows that the bulbs are powered from each end, Hot (Black) on one and Neutral (White) on the other it will be easy. Your electrician will remove the ballasts and wire up your LED to work perfectly. Hope that helps 🙂

    So if I have shunted tombstones and want to power the light single end power, do I need to change the tombstones on both ends of the fixture to non shunted or just the power end of the fixture to non shunted? Thanks

      That is correct, for single end powered led T8 tubes you will need non-shunted tombstones on only the one side that is electrically connected. You can find non-shunted tombstones on our website here 👉 www.totalbulklighting.com/parts-accessories/non-shunted-tombstones-sockets.html
