I have been to St. Louis cemetery #1. My first visit (2004), Marie Lavaeu's tomb was all marked up with X's. When I visited in 2016, the graffiti was painted over and a fence placed around the tomb to discourage future graffiti.

I live on the Connecticut shoreline and one of the closest cemeteries to my house was established in 1658, in addition to indigenous/Native American burial grounds. We have lots of really old burial sites from the 17th-19th c. and exploring their history firsthand is super interesting and a true privilege!

Hi. I gave exactly the same comment! Throughout my life I learned so much history about my town and did many grave rubbings. We are proud of our community and that it’s from the 1600’s. Same goes for historical houses still standing. Enjoy your day.

Why do we have to be surprised/shocked, that indigenous people had complex societies & honored their dead?

There is a cemetery in my home town that is one of the oldest non-indigenous ones in the upper midwest. Established in 1828 and adjacent to a fort it includes several soldiers who served in the Revolutionary War. I grew up next to the main city cemetery that was first built in 1849. 4 generations of my ancestors are buried there, including my parents and grandmother.

I lived in Cahokia, I'll. from 1971-1975. I was in elementary school and they NEVER taught us about the history of our city, nor the importance of the Cahokia people. I had to move away to a different state before I EVER learned about the significance of the area. I find that tragic. 😊

I'm right there with you!! Every single one of my history classes were so white washed and intended to make it sound like the white Europeans were the heroes for the "heathen godless savages" when in all reality, we were the savages!! Really sad if you think about it fully as an adult

@@BarbieJohnson-pm9ys or taught PROPERLY!! And that is why we are doomed to repeat all of the bad shit and forget how to do the good. I hope I'm wrong and technically, I'm old enough to where I'll probably be long gone once the nonsense gets out of control entirely but my children and grandkids are at risk of being exposed to such FELONIOUS stupidity in the classroom and school grounds as well as having it shoved down their collective throats and all the while, it's low grade info at best.

The Old Dutch Church (1610) in Sleepy Hollow, NY, has numerous. Dutch headstones from the early 1600s. It is incorporated within Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, which has the graves of Washington Irving, Andrew Carnegie, the Rockefeller family, and others.

Has anyone working on this video ever visited the graveyards in towns along the CT coastline in Fairfield County. There are cemataries that date back to the 1600’s. There are many people in the area that do gravestone rubbings for many years!

And let's remember #Witchcraft is the oldest religion in the world and the indigenous religion of Western Europe. The Salem Village Massacre of 1690 to 1692 was the beginning of the end for the 900 years of the witch hunts.

NOLA closed that cemetery to the public because of the overwhelming vandalism of the tombs. I was there in 2021 and last week. Closed then. Closed now. No, tours are not allowed either.

I really wanted to like this video, but of course, like all the other tubers.... the music drowns him out and its hard to hear the information. I'm gonna dislike the video so that the channel won't come back through my suggestions.
