- This is how I weave wood or I call wiggle wood. it is a pretty easy process. This method can be used to make cutting, cheese, charcuterie boards, bowls from boards, coasters and much more. Only your imagination holds you back. Hope that some people find that this video helps or is at least gives them some ideas. Have fun with it. You will amaze your friends and family.
This video is great, and your glue ups really cut the mustard. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a fun project and workshop.
That’s funny! Thanks! It is a fun project.
I'm guessing white glue is in the mayo bottle.
Wow great ideas great video thank you
Thanks, Have fun!
Every time i convince myself i don't need a band saw some project like this comes along..
You don’t need anything too expensive for a project like this.
I know... But I don't have the space for it!
- E X C E L L E N T E ! ! ! Absolutely gorgeous wood working. B R A V O. Thanx for sharing.
Thank you very much!
Those look to me like sunrise/sunsets on a beach ⛱️. Nicely done! ❤ Having an episode of insomnia. It's 3am and this popped up in my suggestions. So glad it did! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the nice comments. I sure hope you get over the insomnia really soon.
I love the music 👍🏼
Thanks for your positive comment.
Appreciate that you cut out the band saw squeal in the second half of the video. Nice work.
Thanks
Perfect timing, I am getting into this for making party bowls for my sister’s wedding.
I found that Hippie Crafter Tape works great to hold the two boards together well too.
Folks, quit picking on the music and focus on the content. This is a very comprehensive video. Great job!
Thanks for the nice comment. Good luck making those party bowls.
I will look on Amazon for the hippie tape. Thanks
It is good stuff. I can also router small pieces using it, by additionally sticking larger supporting pieces around the workpiece to steady the router base.
I run that same remote for my dust collector and run an extension chord to the other side of my shop which runs on a different circuit. Great idea!
I agree that the music and machines were too loud. Maybe voice-overs for machine segments would be nice. Good luck.
Thanks Russ, I agree that the remote is awesome and a game changer. I also agree about the loud music and the voice over suggestion. Have a great day.
Thanks! Good information. That process has been a bit of a mystery to me.
George
Glad it was helpful!
Nice. I also like the music.
Thank you much!
Love the mustard bottle I too reuse stuff great job
It is nice when repurposing something works out! 😊
Loved your video, it was very informative. I wasn’t exactly sure how it was done…now i know😊. Thank you, and thank you for sharing. Sub added.
You are so welcome!
I have made. Similar item in the past but your method is so much better and the result was great! I am going to make a new woven project using your process. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Chris, Good luck.
GREAT JOB ON THE BOARDS MY FRIEND, YOUR TURNED-OUT BETTER THAN MINE. I LOVE IT, FROM DOUG
Well thank you very much Doug I really appreciate it.
@@Homeinsteaders you're very welcome my friend well-deserved buddy you did an awesome job on those
I was very impressed my friend I gave you a sub. Now I'm watching on how to make that brisket. I'll have to do that somewhere else besides in the shop though LOL
Great video! Great project!! Thanks much for creating the video!
Thank you very much for your wonderful comment.
Nice work
Thanks
Nice Jobs ❤
Thank you! 😊
Nice way to make an attractive cutting board!
Thank you. It is pretty fun.
I don’t mind the music, I liked the banjo tune at the beginning the most, and if I was you I’d stick with one type of music for the whole video, but aside from lowering the volume maybe a bit (perhaps even with the volume of your voice, so it’s not so jarring when we go from a scene with just you talking to one where the music starts playing) I would also suggest maybe only having it playing during the parts where you aren’t talking - and I’d cut out the bandsaw screaming and cover those segments with music. But I know for my mother, who wears hearing aids, background noise makes hearing what a person is saying a lot harder. There’s also some people on RUclips who just don’t want to hear any music during a maker’s video, period, so you’re always gonna get some crabcakes complaining about it if you choose to keep using it. You win some, you lose some. 😅
Anyways, very interesting technique. I’ve always wondered how those curves were done. It’s pretty! Reminds me of a sunset over water. I’ll have to watch them be turned into bowls now. 😂
Thank you very much for your comments and suggestions. They are all very well received. I am working on learning and implementing some editing techniques. I am very new to this so I can only go up from here with help from people like you. Thanks!
Great job. Thank you 😊
Thank you very much!
Love this stuff but I must admit, I was distracted by the sheer number of tape measures on the workshop table. :)
How funny? I was wondering when someone would say something about all my tape measures. I am a retired Electrician so had a few for work and a few for home and now I will never run out of them.
@@Homeinsteaders all good, I figured you had taken the motto of measure twice to be with different tape measures. :) Thanks again for the content, loving it.
Great work. Looking forward to watch more.
Thanks a lot.
Good video, I'm an instant subscriber! I have been wanting to try this but was afraid my bench top band saw might be a little weak for 1.5 inch hardwood cuts, but I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for subscribing and good luck with your project.
New subscriber here, really enjoyed the video, very nice. Well done, sir.
Thanks for the really nice comment and thank you for subscribing Harry.
Do a video of the vacuum dust collection system. I saw a bit in a background photo and looks interesting. I built a Thien Cyclone into my shopvac (lift the lid, put the cyclone on and the lid back on top of it, so curious to see your setup.
Ok that is a good idea. That thing works really well!
You have to show the finished product, preferably in the thumbnail picture.
Thanks for the advice.
Fabulous project. I’m curious, would the width of the saw blade cutout create a mismatch of curves? I thought a thin strip, the width of the saw blade would have to be glued in to make up the difference . I’m not complaining, just curious ! I’ve been wanting to build similar for some time but wasn’t sure how I would make strips to glue in that were kerf thickness .. Thank you for your feedback . Brian
Thanks for your great question! Yes there is a mismatch when using a thin strip that is wider than your kerf. It really shows up when you cross another thin strip. I would like to try making kerf thick strips.
That is so cool! Thanks for the video! Can he ask how long you leave the board's glued up before you go on to the next process at the band saw?
I wait at least 1 1/2 hours. There is not a lot of stress on the glue joints when running through the band saw.
@@Homeinsteaders thanks, I really appreciate it.
be neat if you had some purple heart to act as sunset
I would agree with that. Purple Heart is really pretty wood.
if you don't hit record, are you talking to yourself now? is that crazy? 😄
Why yes it is! 😊
Don’t the bandsaw blade marks leave some gaps in your glue ups? What is the TPI of your blade?
To help prevent gaps I just hit it with some 100 grit sand paper and that seems to work just fine. Doesn’t take much sanding. The 3/8” blade is an 8 TPI.
Really good information. You should lose the terrible music and explain what you are doing as you go. I also wish you had made something from those boards as an end product. Maybe that will be your next video without the music. Interestingly, the music was louder than the dust collector. Thumbs up for a good video.
I will be working on the music issue. I do plan on making a couple of bowls with this wood in the very near future. Thanks for your input.
Nice piece of work. Your choice of music was OK but way to loud.
Sorry about that
Don't have a bandsaw. Could I do these, using a scroll saw?
I am pretty sure you could but I have not tried it.
If I can think of something to use this on I'll give it a try. looks really cool and not nearly as difficult as I assumed, though I'll do it on a smaller scale i think. Gotta say, probably the coolest music in a woodworking video too haha.
Have fun with it. I will be working on the music issue. Thanks
Please, Lower The Volume Of Your 🎶 🎶 🎶 🎶 Music.
Thanks for your feedback back. I am trying to get that dialed in.
The music is too loud.
Sorry about that!
The music is too loud and not needed
Thanks for the feed back I will work on that.
Great video but the volume balance between the commentary (too quiet) and the backing music (too loud) is awful.
Thanks for your feedback back. I am very new to editing so I can only get better from here. 😊
Music not needed
Thanks Bob, I will work on that.
Fingers are not adequate tools to spread glue.
Thanks, I will keep that in mind.
In fact, fingers are an entirely appropriate glue spreader….as long as you wipe them off after spreading the glue.
Thanks much,inspiring 😊
Thanks just have fun.
Who is the music by when you are glueing the thin walnut strips in?
That is Guess I’ll Never Know by TrackTribe.
