Cameron's session intros have always had a very classical theater feel to them and it feels incredibly appropriate for this campaign to be recorded on a stage at a proper theater. The uncanny feeling of an empty theater also really adds to the horror factor
I've never really associated them to theatre because I always assumed the main influence was Sid meier's Alpha Centauri, which I know Cam is a big fan of. Specifically how they're usually framed as quotes from fictional works and authors, but also in the themes and general prose. That all being said, you're right in that it fits the setting, both in and out of the game.
One little detail that makes me giggle: how "The Roman" was to be the nickname people use behind his character's back, but the only person who actually uses it is Sinclair, who just says it straight to his face.
So what I am gleaning from Camron's attempts to condense his thoughts to fit within Adam's vocabulary is this. The black oil is a genetic and evolutionary "Autocomplete" and given a single page (cell) it will re-create a novel (organism) then write sequels (evolve the organism) then build and fill a library (terraform a planet) but eventually the algorithm settles down and it just starts spitting out page after page of "that that that that" and those pages are the Xenomorphs.
The venue for this is great. Black background, draped tables, and just a hint of echo.... I realize this venue was not in the original concept for this Dice Friends series, but it works SO well. An already great story has been enhanced. Great job of making lemonade out of the lemons! Or maybe another way to say it is, great job using the extra stress dice that 2020 gave to your pool and rolling a success with it.
Maybe it's just been forever since I've heard Cameron GM, but it struck me how much his narrative voice and word choices remind me of the language used by the Skills in Disco Elysium. Viciously literary with bits of buffy speak thrown in to keep it grounded. Something I deeply aspire to in my own game running. That said if Cameron, Kathleen, and/or Dale made a video of their "best GM practices" I'd watch it in a heartbeat.
I mentioned it in another comment, but it also sounds a whole lot like the "quotes" in Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Which, like Disco Elysium, also has better writing than it has any right to.
INT: CRASHED ESCAPE POD. SCHAFER peers through the hatch. There is carnage inside; too many limbs for who should have been on board. As SCHAFER peers into the darkness, he sees that BRYCE is somehow here too. SCHAFER: What the fuck...? BRYCE: Don't touch it. It's corrosive, carcinogenic, mutagenic, probably teratogenic too. SCHAFTER: Bryce, what is going on? BRYCE: (pause) ...have you heard of the 'Nostromo'? Someone please let Cameron make movies.
The ability for Cameron to consistently time the end of the session at around the 1 hour 45 minute mark, while also ending on great cliffhangers, is a feat to behold. (Rewatching these as I wait for Vancouver Island by Night S2)
I'm. So. Excited. This. Series. Is. Back. This is what I was waiting for after all this started, and I'm thrilled you all were able to put this together. Thank you so much, this made my day.
I am so glad this is back! I think that theater setting to do it in is BRILLIANT! Thank you so much for going to such trouble to do this! And very happy it enables you to be safe! Also Cameron is just an amazing DM and I hope to play a game DM'ed by someone as good.
THIS! This right here! THIS is why not all of your tabletop games need to wind up being comedic romps. This is what you're capable of. Thank you for this. Thank you so much for this. And when you're ready . . . please more?
finally Finally FINAlly FINALLY! I've missed this so much. I started rewatching when a friend expressed interest in a DnD game with Xenomorphs. Timing couldn't be better. Love ya, Cam!
Probably should have had everyone watch at least the previous episode to get caught back up with where they were at, given the long period between then and now. Everyone had at least one moment of "Wait, what happened? Where are we?"

Whoever in the LRR crew took the Heat Death videos out of the dice friends playlist and put them back in to group them, THANK YOU.

I think this is a very important comment.
This is a stellar comment.
Ah so it's... (looks around) copier fluid.

I've missed this, I especially missed Game Mother Cameron
This is one of the things I missed most entertainment wise due to the current situation. I can't express how happy this makes me that its back!

I cannot express how much love goes out to this stream. It is, naturally, perfectly times and Cameron brings so much life to his game mastering.
Good to see a theatre getting safe use.
Getting to play ttrpg in an empty theatre is the most baller move for a horror game
I love these in-universe intro segments. It makes me want to read Cam’s novel
The theatre echo really adds to the ambiance of the game.
IT'S BACK!? IT'S back? IT' BACK! IIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSS BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!
Wrong franchise.
Kept you waiting huh?
My reaction was "OMG OMG OMG IT'S BACK!!!"

I love the interplay between Adam and Cameron.
Possibly my favourite tabletop RPG series LRR has ever done is back!
YESSSSSSSS!!! IT’S BACK! IT’S FINALLY BACK!
P.S. Hope everyone is fine and it’s good that you are taking precautions.
Suspicious black oil that iterates on a life-form until it reaches the ideal? Now there's space Phyrexians!
7:02 My name is Lars Gerhardt, I was never here, and everything is fine.
Wait, you're Lars Gerhardt? I trusted you!
OMG, you can hear how loud Adam is in this theater, I love it.
The return of the king 👑
7:30 "what month is this", March, it is forever March.
1:00:15, 10 dice and the busser misses XD!!

Things are really heating up! A great episode and an intersting alternative production set up.
I'm. So. Excited. This. Series. Is. Back. This is what I was waiting for after all this started, and I'm thrilled you all were able to put this together. Thank you so much, this made my day.
Rewatching this series again and god Cori's performance is just hysterical. I love it!
Damn I missed the actual stream, even though it's a pre-record. Still hype though. Missed that opening
I am so glad this is back! I think that theater setting to do it in is BRILLIANT! Thank you so much for going to such trouble to do this! And very happy it enables you to be safe! Also Cameron is just an amazing DM and I hope to play a game DM'ed by someone as good.
I can't help but gush about Cameron's opening monologues, such sublime word choice and delivery
THIS!

Thank you for this.
Thank you so much for this.
And when you're ready . . . please more?
I love what Cam does to Adam. Great story telling and DM work Cam. Great to see everyone is back and safe.
Of all the LRR content, this is what I missed the most. Thank you.
finally Finally FINAlly FINALLY! I've missed this so much. I started rewatching when a friend expressed interest in a DnD game with Xenomorphs. Timing couldn't be better. Love ya, Cam!
This setting in the theater is actually wonderful for this story. Very good atmosphere. I am so glad this is continuing!! :)
YES!! I got excited for this since the behind-the-scenes picture on the twitters :3
i cannot properly express how excited i was to see this pop up in my sub feed
If there's anything that can make you appreciate the relative normalcy of the dumpster fire that is 2020, it's a story set in the Alien/s universe.
Love this series being back. Also great seeing Alex sporting a Birthday Massacre shirt. Great band!
I am so excited for this new episode of I EAT I EAT I
This is so good, so freaking damn good.
Yeah. It’s back 😁
Hoely hell, the venue they went to film this is awesome!
Ugh, I missed this so much. Only half way through the episode and already so many good moments! Thank you LRR!
I've been waiting for sooooo looong!!! I'm so excited!
20 minutes in, watching everyone try to find a good way to describe the xenomorph, and no one remembered "big chap".
It’s back and it’s got some upgrades*!
*Upgrades referring to being on a theatre stage
It's so nice to see you all doing this in person again; it adds so much to the experience. stay safe you wonderful people.
Oh my god yes I'm so happy! It's been so long, thank you thank you thank you!
I missed this and our Game Mother. Also, the oil spitting out Bryce clones is telling me to run before Xenomorphs before me.
Renting a theater was such a great idea!
I'm so happy this is back!
I’m so happy!
I really love this series of dice friends
It’s back I’m so happy I’ve missed it so much ❤️❤️❤️
So glad this is back!
Missed this, SO Good.
Oh boy, how I missed this crew. And the totally not life threatening alien species that will totally not be the death of all of them!
Probably should have had everyone watch at least the previous episode to get caught back up with where they were at, given the long period between then and now. Everyone had at least one moment of "Wait, what happened? Where are we?"
Outstanding.
YYYYEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!! SO happy this is back!
AAAHHHHHHH!!! Cameron is great. And Evil! But mostly great.

I'm glad it wasn't game over man.
I was so worried this series was dead
Omgomgomg yes
