Where would the Church be without our faithful Wives and Mothers then and now.

This is my great great great grandmother. Her story has helped me have courage in some of my darkest days. Thank you so much for sharing her story.❤️

Same, I keep her picture on my wall to remind me of her strength and a reminder of how easy my life is

She’s my3rd great grandmother also. She and Amanda Barnes Smith. Amanda’s daughter married Druscilla’s son, William Dorris Hendricks, the son she sent with the Mormon Battalion. I’m so proud of all of them.

Her husband James not only made it to Nauvoo, but to Utah. I believe he was a bishop in Utah. They are buried in Richmond, Utah.

What happened to her husband? Did he survive to Nauvoo?

He survived, and was taken across the plains into the Salt Lake valley and even served there as an LDS Bishop. Eventually, the family was asked to move to the Cache Valley where they finished their lives.

He was shot at the Battle of Crooked River. He did live. There is so much to her story that wasn’t mentioned, but she was an amazing woman. My husband is related to her as well.
