      Zachery Rancano I did something similar with being a furry. I would not shut up about how weird furries were when I was eleven and twelve. My friends got bored talking to me because all I was interested in talking about was something along the lines of 'Aren't those furfags just the biggest freaks?'. Meanwhile, I'd look at furry art all night and I worried about what people would think constantly. I was that douchebag.
      Now, I am in fact also gay, but coming to grips with my sexuality was made much easier by that experience. I still say now that being a furry was like training for the self-acceptance I'd have to do later on more important things.

    This is the bully mentality. Kids who are bullied at home and such turn into bullies in the school yard. They feel helpless, angry and frustrated. So when homophobe parents raise a gay kid that gay kid sometimes turns into a bully/homophobe. It's sad.

    • @allsaintsmonastery

      It is clear that you are misreading something. God tells us not to do something does not mean that we have to rage against those who do. It is clear that Gay people are born Gay and that no choice is evident from a large body of study. The bottom line is, there is no reason for homephobic outrage except being a self-hating homosexual. Otherwise, one can deal with the issue in a stern but peaceful manner. There is a great difference between moral outrage and moral grief. One is a personal confession, the other is a Christian reaction.

      +Jake Drew Who chooses their sexuality? I try to go a little more into depth: Who would EVER choose to risk losing EVERYONE and EVERYTHING they have ever loved or cared about? Who would choose to face a life of ridicule, hatred, bigotry and massive discrimination? Who would choose to live a life that could lead to severe bodily harm, imprisonment and/or even death - at the hands of others - simply because you "choose" to love someone. Who would choose to live a life that - based on misguided notions - would bar them from hotels, restaurants, housing, employment, civil functions and so many many other things? Yet consider the alternative. Who would honestly wish to live a life of misery, self-loathing and anguish, simply to maintain peace and order, in the minds of strangers? Or merely to keep the peace, within ones own family?
      So, if sexuality is a, "choice," why would anyone 'choose' to know the reality to any one of the above questions - much less the reality of all of them?

    I used have stereotypical thoughts about gays. I remember discovering that I liked women, and my decision was that I'd experiment with women, but ultimately marry a man. I also didn't understand why women wanted to date other women that dressed like men, when they could just date a man instead. Now I want to marry a woman, and I dress masculine. I feel that if we spend more time learning ourselves, and less time rejecting, we'd all be much happier. Research is accessible to each and every one of us.

This study does not say all homophobes are gay, it says that they're likely to turn out to be gay, for numerous reason which they mention in this video. Abdalmaus Actually, when it comes to children it is always rape when it comes to pedophilia because they are not old enough to consent.

    • @anabelecatalao8989
      @anabelecatalao8989 9 лет назад

      Abdalmaus I understand what you say and in a way some teenagers (who arent -legally- old enough to consent either) may actually have healthy relationships with adults. It may happen, but it is less dangerous for them to have to wait than for the real victims to be taken less seriously. (I dont quite know if i made myself clear as well). But what i mean is: Yes i agree that it isnt ~always~ rape, because we cant generalize.
      But about those people with mental disorders that you mentioned, they actually cant consent either (again, legally) depending on the "level" of their illness. At least that is how it is here, in Brazil.
      Anyways, it is indeed very confusing to determine if it was rape, when WE have to analyze if the alleged victim and decide for them if they could or could not consent. But to be honest, i dont see a real problem to always consider it rape, when it comes to pedophilia, because when you are actually a child, you can be seriously damaged due to sexual abuses.
      And I wouldnt call it "their decisions" saying that children could agree with them, because there are several things that we do as a child that we wouldnt ever repeat. Things that put our lives in danger, because we dont measure the consequences. So if the victim is drunk, drugged, not old enough, has a mental illness or any other condition that doesnt allow them to make a clear decision to consent or not to consent, it is only fair to consider it rape. The sober, adult, sain one has to be reaponsible to say "you know what? Maybe that is not the time for this to happen".
      But it was very good to reflect about it. Im glad you are a nice person to disagree with hahaha Happy new year :)

My dad said that more likely than not the killer was gay himself and couldn't come to terms with his sexuality and then took it all down on Versace, who was brave enough to come out of the closet. That's why I feel more pity than hatred for the WBC members.

That was something that a real person said. And I and the my gay friend were like, what? Why, wait, why do you think that it is a choice? It's not a choice, what do you mean gay tendencies? What are you talking about? And it turned out that that Christian homophobe was gay, and that's why he knew that it was choice, because for him it was a choice!!

My point is that in the real world outside of his mind, there are people who are only attracted sexually to women, unlike himself. He doesn't know that he is actually gay, not by choice but by birth. This just might be a little too complicated for you, but sexual orientation is not a choice. I am straight, not by choice, he is gay not by choice. So it is true to say that if you are gay you can choose to go against your nature however nothing will change what you truly want to do. That's why you have old men with wives who end up getting busted in the men's room trying to suck someone's dick. And that's why I would never do that, because I wasn't born with the need to do that. The sexual tendencies we are born with are not a choice.

That's so messed up on so many levels. Didn't you feel bad for being anti gay when you were gay yourself? Didn't you feel as though it was wrong since you were gay yourself. Were you in denial or actually anti gay?

    • @alicealysia

      Well it is just messed up, i really regret it so much but the reason behind it is quite simple.
      I was raised in a hardcore Pentecostal home and the thing is, when you are told your whole life that being who you are is wrong, you try to suppress that, and when you see someone who isn't doing that, you deep down become... A bit jealous.
      And people do really fucked up shit when their jealous...

      I understand, thanks for being honest. I could see how jealousy could play a role, but that's like saying just because you couldn't be happy you didn't want others to be happy either. It's a bit selfish but I understand what jealousy can do to you. So did you actually put other gay people down, or were you just anti gay? Did you actually deliberately put gay people down, and bash them, or did you generally just hate them but kept to yourself? I'm sorry but what's worst then someone who's anti gay, is an anti gay person who's actually gay himself. It's so hypocritical, but at least you can admit your wrong doings. So have you accepted yourself now, or are you still in some denial? Listen I realize you had it tough, growing up in a family where everyone was born to believe being gay was wrong. See that's the problem with religion, it makes people closed minded, and unaccepting. Religion causes more harm then good in my opinion. There are millions of religions, what's the chance that your certain religion is right while the millions of others aren't. Religion brainwashes people at an early age, shelters them off, and promotes wrong thinking and ideas. It prevents people from truly living their life. Even in nature, there is homosexual activity. Religion is man-made. Religion was created to brainwash and control society by the masses. It has proven time and time again to work, just like in the middle east. Religious fanatics control society, and govern everything. They control everything, and own all the wealth.

    The problem with western concept of heterosexuality is that most men are not exclusive heterosexuals at all. Most men also have an attraction to other men, whether or not with a desire for women.

  • @lougert
    @lougert 8 лет назад +5

    My issue with these kinds of claims is that they don't distinguish between attraction and identity. Evidence does suggest that sexual attraction is not something we choose, but it IS a choice to identify as gay, straight, bisexual, etc. While homophobes might feel attracted to their own sex, they are not gay unless they identify themselves as such. So while I appreciate the sympathy The Young Turks tends to have toward the gay community, it might be helpful to you to have some LGBT guests on the show, or at least consultants to help you get a more accurate, developed perspective on these issues. Maybe no one will see or care about this comment, but I've watched a bunch of these videos recently, and it's a tendency I've noticed and would like to see improved upon.

    I would think an experience that would turn someone homophobic in the worst way would be if someone was in prison for a few years, and the other men were constantly raping him because he was too scrawny or too physically weak to fight back. You know, the kind who is easy to fold up like a cardboard box. And the guards doing nothing about it.

      You know this how Turn off TV?
      Is this what your gay friends have told you or just something you read or made up?
      Your picture is that of a man who looks like he has African heritage so you of all people should know from parents about how hard it was for black people in the States at one time but did you know the great MLK who is why you are not sitting at the back of the bus are allowed to eat out and not forced to drink out of certain water fountains or fear driving through a State what will happen based on how you were born wanted civil rights for LGBT too but he said homosexuals which was correct back then and even today homosexual is clear meaning one or same aka a person who was born in a way so at puberty would become attracted to the same sex not opposite since opposite for them would be abnormal and the great Coretta Scott King his wife was on youtube stating this fact and how she wanted to now move into the civil rights battle for gays so they could have full civil rights too so you are way wrong here in your thinking but perhaps you have been filled with some religious BS in your local culture that did that to you but you have to man up and take responsibility that you lack knowledge on scientific fact.
      It would be nice if you got out there and got moving on helping those homosexual get civil rights sooner. It is coming in all 50 States in six to ten years but it could happen sooner to get this done so there is not more yapping about it. Did you know there are still people who think because you are black that you have low IQ? Those are bigots and idiots. You have a good IQ as an individual am sure however; you just don't know what you're talking about on this topic is all. I'm not doing a personal attack on you at all. I am simply knowing how hard it is out there for some people and that comments like you made makes it worse.

      ruth njiru If you ask a murderer if they condone murder, they will most likely say no. Further more hating gays or whatever based on morality is subjective where there are two consenting adults, where as a murderer obviously takes others lives there is no consent. The idea that murder is wrong is far more objectivly considered wrong. Nobody debates it because there's nothing to debate.
      Most homophobics have been brought up in an authoritative background where they are taught that they are only worthy human beings if they are 100% straight. This is taught in the developmental period and leads to an internal battle inside those with any same sex attraction. The pattern is that they practive Reaction Formation, in which they play up their heterosexuality and condemn any form of homosexuality in others and completely deny it in themselves. This leads to many forms of hate crimes and discrimination. I'm ashamed to see that someone who's culture has been discriminated against so much, and constantly talks about how damaging it is for the human race is so quick to take part in that same sort of bigotry that they were once afflicted by. The oppressed becoming the oppressor with no sense of irony in their consciousness.
      If you are hung up on religious texts stating the immoral nature of same sex attraction you might be interested in looking into how the south used passages from the bible to condone slavery and a number of other things that we as a culture, take for granted and enjoy today. The fixation on hating gays is arbitrary when you gloss over everything else the bible tells you not to take part in and condone as well.
