    One of the things I respect most about Moondrop is that they're not afraid to release products that directly compete with other of their own products. They did this with chu vs quark, and now they're doing it again. Most other companies would have nerfed the performance of the cheaper one to make sure they're not competing directly.

    • @ViaRosalesVlogs
      @ViaRosalesVlogs Год назад +8

      its like them sayng, hey youre doing great on sales, now its time for you to be stopped by your younger better brother and so on lol. love that company, they listen to the feedbacks too when releasing new iterations, which what made me a fan. for sure they will release a next version with no holes on it because of the things theyre getting with this. but its a good start nonetheless

    • @ser_igel

      @@ViaRosalesVlogs honestly sometimes new versions is one step forward two steps back
      Chu were awesome (i bought more than one pair and am using one of them right now because bought one specifically to leave them at work), while they aren't really great at technical aspects like imaging and sound stage, they have really great neutral-ish tuning which i really like
      A week ago I got Chu II and while their cable is great enough to replace the kit one from my Starfields, they now sound pretty generic. I still like them but I like the first generation more. And while I bought two pair of Chus for two different places, I believe I'm gonna buy two pairs of ChuChus for two cables (cuz it worths its 19$)

    • @r_ex_7
      @r_ex_7 11 месяцев назад

      @@ser_igel you should get the moondrop lan if you like the chu's tuning. theyre the true successors to the chus, inheriting the neutral tuning while the chu iis have a more v shaped tuning. the cable is also miles ahead of the chu and better than the chu iis

    Picked up one of these immediately after release due to the surprisingly low price. Expectations weren’t too high, but I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it. Very impressive power for its size. Haven’t felt the need to use my desktop amp for weeks. Great to hear your perspective on it!

      @@nftbandit9645 Yeah, the Apple dongle is actually a really good performer. I quite like it for IEMs, especially given that it’s so discreet and affordable. I don’t notice any difference in audio quality going to the Dawn Pro, really, but definitely a huge difference in power output. The Dawn Pro drives my open-back headphones of relatively high impedance with no issues.

      @@braxfl7462 incredibly late response, but yes. I’m using it now with the HD600 and it can drive them loud on the 4.4mm balanced output. The single-ended output might struggle a bit more. The video covers the HD600 also, which will pretty much be identical to the HD6XX.

    This is RIDICULOUSLY good for $49 and perfect for any trips. It's amazing that you can have such portability with that sound quality, that's why it's great not only for travels or at work, but also for desktop use. No need to spend more than this on a portable DAC unless you plan to use low sensivity gear. It's indeed a no brainer at its price tag and will redefine the segment. Moondrop did an outstanding job.

  • @burns0100
    @burns0100 8 месяцев назад +7

    I just got one, had to wait 2 months for production to catch up but finally listened to it and I was blown away. Using my Moondrop Beautiful World so I got to test 3.5 and 4.4mm options and can say the balanced output is 2x louder, a lot of power for IEM's. Honestly I'm enjoying just being able to put my source at 100% and then use the 100 tiers of volume the Dawn Pro offers to finely adjust my sound.
    My one negative is that default source quality is signalled by a bright red LED... not some nice soft blue or white. Just a harsh red. Tempted to upsample my source just to change the colour but have no idea what effect that would have on quality.
    I've own two DAC/AMP's, The FiiO E10K-TC and now the Moondrop Dawn Pro. Have to say they are both extremely good for what they offer and I'd struggle to pick between the two but based off price alone, Moondrop wins. I think Fiio has the overall better package but at a higher price and less portable.
    With the Dawn Pro I'm not trying to figure out an option to get it to work on my iPhone. Need some Adapter or cable that will work and support audio.

    compare it to ibasso dco3 pro since they are the same chips and close in price. I own ibasso dco3 pro and pair it with tanchjim kara with tip and cable rolling. The sound is amazing on apple music lossless.

    1:41 No, this is just wrong and I'd expect you to know better. 4Vrms is a measurement of output power, just as 120mW is. It's just a cleaner way of writing it down and you can estimate the wattage you'll get with your specific headphones (4V / 32Ohms = 125mW). Also there are other dacs boasting higher output, e.g. the Fiio E10K lists 200mW with only a single usb-c in as well (I'm not saying the other specs are on par, I haven't looked at those). Saying this dongle "can push a lot of headphones [...] because the Voltage is so high" is plain BS and while I don't expect an everyday headphone buyer to know what the Vrms measurement means I expect a professional reviewer not to read from the marketing material without understanding what it says.
    But I'm sure you get more clicks this way, so whatever.

      The voltage and current capabilities aren't always going to line up. You stick some 600 ohm headphones on it and you want voltage. Planars might be sub 20 ohms and high current under certain situations and might hit the current limiter in the chip.

    • @arouraios4942
      @arouraios4942 Год назад

      @@mikafoxx2717 If it's not a problem with IEMs it's not gonna be a problem with any planar. Besides, while there may technically be a maximum current it's certainly not what Josh was referring to

    I lately bought my first IEM, wanted to start cheap and bought some KZ ZS10 Pro X. Problem is on windows and my PC, the volume is extremely high even on the minimum 2. So I bought a cheap adapter for with volume but I feel like when using it I don't have the "full range of sound" (gaming, music, movies), it's like it's missing details. Do you think such an amplifier would help me get decent volume control and "full range" of sound?
    Thanks.

    Appreciate you are going for a certain aesthetic with your photography, but the device takes to about 5% of the shot each time you show it, with a slow pan making it hard to focus on.. Would much rather less artistic shots that clearly display the product you are reviewing.
