Kiefer Sutherland and Dennis Haysbert two absolutely fantastic actors. This two absolutely made 24 for the first couple of series. Although I know it made for more dramatic series but the series took a massive hit when Haysbert left in Series 5.
I like this scene specifically when Jack stands up to the senator starts to raise his voice & then composes himself. Such great detail in 24 most shows would ignore these details & the next scene would go on as if nothing happened usually. But 24 took its time usually in every detail of this show.
This scene is the start of one of the strongest character relationships in all of television history, let alone the 24 show. What else can you expect when two giants meet?
I love how the scene starts before Jack enters the room, people's faces are shocked outside the door, then Jack looks at them wondering what's making them so worried. 24 always was great with those small details that made the show 100 better.
Did anyone notice how Palmer's demeanor immediately changed at 1:32 when Jack said that his family was being used to assassinate him? Brilliant acting. 👏🏽
Edit for spelling. Well Palmer knows what it’s like when it comes to the safety of his family as well. As soon as they both calmed down, he heard Jack’s side of the story. And after confirming later on that the whole assassination attempt and kidnapping of Jack’s family was nothing to do with the election, It was all about revenge. Because Victor Drazan lost his wife during the operation in Kosovo. He wanted both Bauer and Palmer to know what it was like to suffer the loss of a family member. So he took advantage and pretty much arranged everything by studying their contacts, friends and relatives. Any kind of leverage he could use to both be at each other’s throats ,and eventually wipe them both out.
@@anthonyortiz3142 maybe in storyline.. president Palmer wasn’t at Teri Bauer funeral I don’t think.. they spoke several times on day 2, 3, and 4.. but nothing in the plot w them meeting again.
@@cameronjosephvideos5942 so true. Plus later in the day when the sting goes bad and the lady stabbed Alexis drazen .. then they talk more on phone about Saugus where that prison is . Then later about Jack getting access to the unknown mystery prisoner who ends up being victor drazen.
What's weird is at the end of season 3, Palmer tells Jack he hopes they'll become better friends after he re-enters civilian life. But unless it happened in some EU material like comics or books, I dunno if Jack and Palmer ever hung out post season 3 lol.

palmer the only one that could confront jack bauer. i believe the most powerful supporting character in all of 24 was david palmer. chloe doesn't count as shes a semi-lead.
It's too much of a civilian, "pretty boy" look. He needed to look tactical and practical, so the hair kept getting shorter. I think it grew back a bit in season 7 when he got a bit more civilized lol
I find it bizarre that if Palmer really thought that Jack wanted him dead and was trying to actually kill him that he is allowed to walk around CTU without any issue 😂😂😂
Always sad that he left the show, but more than delighted that he got 'The Unit,' which fully used Haysbert's charisma and talent. The real shame was that 'The Unit' ended. It was way better than 24 and even the 'tactical' shows we have now.
24 is such a great show, I'm just not a fan of Kiefer Sutherland. There are a few movies I liked him in, Dark City, Stand by Me, Flatliners, Lost Boys, to name some, but he never gave off a protagonist hero vibe to me.

It was still the right move. Only so many times you can bring back an ex-President without it feeling super contrived.

David Palmer's character is an imposing figure commanding respect just by standing there. Dennis Haysbert nailed this portrayal.
