  • The People's Mosquito is a UK registered charity dedicated to getting a DH.98 Mosquito flying once again in the UK www.peoplesmosquito.org.uk/ca...
We believe that the best way to celebrate the heritage and history of Britain's wartime past, the engineering and industrial innovation that led to eventual peace and the bravery of those who built, serviced and flew the Mosquito, is best served by returning the Wooden Wonder to the skies.
Here, we present the first in what we hope will be a series of regular video updates from Retrotec, showing how public donations in support of Operation Jericho 2020 are driving progress progress on our de Havilland Mosquito moulds.
This current fundraising campaign, launched in April 2020, aims to raise £250,000 in 2020 year, which will allow the groundbreaking moulds to be completed and work to start on the fuselage itself.
By harnessing its vast collection of original Mosquito-related technical data, The People's Mosquito working in collaboration with skilled restoration engineers at world-renowned Retrotec Ltd, are resurrecting a manufacturing capability not seen in the UK for nearly three quarters of a century.
With mould A now more than 50% complete and mould B now mounted on box steel frame ready for work to start, the first fuselage moulds to be built in the UK for more than 70 years are taking shape, despite lockdown restrictions at the factory.
In addition to helping to return a Mossie to UK and European skies, supporters also receive a range of exclusive rewards, including unrivalled access to both the restoration itself and the first public flight of the newly-restored Mosquito FB.VI RL249 when completed.
Please help support this important heritage project.

Glyn Powell died a few year ago but the Mossie that he started is nearly finished and hopes to be displayed at Warbirds over Wanaka Nz this easter . An incredible achievement for one man .The firm doing the rebuilds here in is Nz is just finishing off the 4th flying mossie .

I recall visiting the build of Glyn Powell’s Mosquito and amazed at the accuracy he had done with control wire access holes so accurately drilled through bulkheads angled diagonally up through the fuselage from one end to the other. It is a pity he didn’t complete his own build which followed the first one, or maybe he did? I recall seeing an advert of the main structure for sale a few years back I wonder what the outcome was.

Wow!. I admire you guys. My Father helped build Mosquitos in Toronto, Canada in 1944. He was 17. I contribute to this worthy project because I know he would have.

Great little peak in to the fantastic work you guys are doing and long for the day when a Mosquito is back on the British airshow circuit - I know how long it takes to put a video together, but would love to see more, possibly showing more detail of specific parts of the build - Whatever you guys are able put together I'll watch though - Keep up the great work

So is this a restoration or a replica? How much original aircraft is there?

Our aircraft, serial RL249, is being restored to flight in accordance with the CAA's very strict requirements.

I say since this plane was such a greater fighter/bomber. Put a couple of turbo prop jet engines in her and tell the RAF that you all have a new fighter/ bomber.
