Hey, JT. I made the tan slip! Bryan Absher (Moonshine Leatherworks). At the moment I can be found on Instagram and FB, but a website is in the works! Thanks for your review and I'm glad the slip is serving you well! And yes, everyone need to use a slip when carrying a slipjoint/traditional knife in the pocket!
I have carried a pocket knife since 4th grade and I'm 76 now and never used a slip since they weren't heard of back then. Now, I carry slipjoints and have slips for most that I carry. If I'm carrying a working blade I won't bother with a slip. If it is a special knife, I will use a slip which I get from Holladay Leather Works. Eric can be found on the Jimislash Facebook group. He also makes a field note holder which is beautiful. Prices are reasonable. Thanks for sharing.
I used to have so many slip joint knives as a kid i miss them. My neighbor sold them from a catalog. I made a fancy wood case with a glass top to keep them in. I never heard of putting them in slips back then. Sounds like a good idea.
This is by far my favorite channel at the moment, just wanted to let you know. I love seeing all the different things you have as well as learning. I also love the mods and I want to start anodizing and customizing everything I see lol
I carry my smaller S/J knives in the watch pocket. I picked up a couple from GEC when I visited them. I also made one from the tongue a old shoe and the finger of a leather glove.
I get slips from a couple of private sellers. Its like you said, you find something you like and go with it. Nice bunch of slips brother! Thanks for sharing!!
any knives that i carry are users, so I don't need a slip and I kinda see slips as more of an accessory for fashion or looks. But they may service a small purpose like you said to keep them from clanking around. Interesting video topic
Only have a couple of slips. Thinking about adding one for my propers. I Work with leather daily upholstering and the smell of leather is awesome. Those are some nice slips you've got thanks for the info.
I always carry a slip joint (Case, GEC, Lionsteel Barlow, or Viper EZ Open) and I have some from retailers like Collector Knives, Knives Ship Free, but I also have a few handmade slips, which vary from stiff to broken in.
I am beginning to get into traditional knives. If I get one that won't fit in the 5th pocket I will get it a slip. Yes to prevent overstretching I would use each knife in it's own slip. Mainly because of other metal don't want the knives getting scratched by keys or coins. Thanks for showing this.
I have slips for each of my GECs,a few GEC slips, which work fine..a couple hitch and timber slips which are a bit pricey but excellent quality and have a pen holder that holds a fisher space pen..have a couple KSF slips that are perfect with the right knife(#38,#82)..and the rest are the CK slips in assorted sizes which are by far my favorites, the quality and color selection are top notch(BTW the small CK slip is perfect for the #06)
I have one slip I got with my liner lock, clipless Fox knives Terzoula. The knife and slip are great. I carry all my knives loose in pocket. My $300 titanium BM 765 looks like it was run over by a truck on a gravel road. I’m going to order a bunch of different size slips for my locking knives.
Great video. I found that with some basic leather tools, a knife slip is pretty easy to make and doesn’t take too much time at all. I understand leather working is not for everyone, but I enjoy it. I suggest you try it out and you can even customize it the way you want. I think that Case teardrop is begging for a slip with neon green thread
It’s so strange and cool to me to see this kind of resurgence with slip joints. I think most everyone who collects knives started with some sort of slip joint (in my case). Then I got into fixed blades and returned to folders after that. Interesting to see how the knife movements change and come full circle
@@JTsKnifeLife For me I use a slip for my Buck 112 (kinds of a big knife but love it) and Case knife when going out for nice occasions....The other knives I just slip in my pocket for use but just my take....I do love a good slip though....
I use a locking knife 90% of the time, and my slipjoint are a secondary carry that rarely see use unless I'm actively trying to use them. Very cool to get your perspective. I think if I used them more it would make sense to abandon the slip. Great point.
I've bought a few slips, ended up not using most of them and just carrying in the watch pocket. The ones that I do use are dedicated to a particular knife. Not really getting why you are worried about a tight fit. It's in your pocket, upright, knife's not going anywhere.
I love my slips and I have certain slips for each knife that I want to carry. I’m no pro either at this point but I’m starting to find that some of the $2.99 leather slips from blade HQ, I like more than some of the ones that are really popular amongst the community - tale of knives , hitch and timber are all great but for the price of 30 slips from blade HQ I can buy one from one of those companies ... maybe I’m trashy when It comes to slips but I like certain colors and certain thicknesses etc. I like all slips. No such thing as bad looking leather unless it’s not leather imo.
Good points, yeah, it's easy to spend a ton of money on them, and the knives themselves can be pricey as well. I'll have to see what bladehq has. Thanks man!
I used to never carry a slip because I like scratches and wear, but now I do because I can carry a pen in the same slip. Plus, it gives me an excuse to see another natural leather product patina.
You should try making your own sometime, leather working really isn't hard that's why there are a million different leather craft vendors, but shhhh don't let anyone know.... Oh and not expensive to do yourself neither. But shhhhhh
pivot end goes down into a slip. that is slip joint 101. Seems like you have spent to much time around Spyderschlock and not enough around good companies. LOL !!!

Nice slip collection my friend!!!

Thank you Bruce, great to have some solid recommendations!
Eric’s a trustworthy good guy too
I'm getting a bit of a collection myself. It's nearly addictive. Lol. Atb paddy 😜👍☘️
Hahaha "nearly" addictive...sounds like we're in denial.

It works for me. Wish I had some of the ones that my dad and grandpa used to have lying around. Nothing fancy, but those older ones are classics.

Well, thank you Jack, I'm really glad you're enjoying my videos and I appreciate you letting me know! What kind of mods are you thinking about doing?
JT's Knife Life I’m going to completely mod a Pilar and then get into some other types of things. I got a titanium pry bar that I wanna anno too

@FlamQ Dbltap sure thing! I get my slips from @holladayleather and @rg2_leather_worx on Instagram. Holladay Leather also has a Facebook page.
Thanks for the info Red!

Thanks man. There's just something about leather in an EDC that really does it for me. Sort of a weird thing to say though hahaha
Thanks for the info. I’ve been looking for a slip for my Benchmade Megumi for a while and haven’t had much luck. This will help!
Only have a couple of slips. Thinking about adding one for my propers. I Work with leather daily upholstering and the smell of leather is awesome. Those are some nice slips you've got thanks for the info.
Yeah man, humidors, fresh cut grass on a baseball field, leather. Probably the best smells out there lol
I always carry a slip joint (Case, GEC, Lionsteel Barlow, or Viper EZ Open) and I have some from retailers like Collector Knives, Knives Ship Free, but I also have a few handmade slips, which vary from stiff to broken in.
I've been looking at some of those new Vipers and MKMs. Some great looking models I'd like to try out!
I like my beard and owl slant slip a lot along with several others Endustry Leather horween slip, popov, and ksf deluxe slip
Thanks for the recommendations. 👍

Great feedback Rick, always appreciate your comments!
Nice slips, JT! Nothing beats the smell of freshly-worked leather. :-)
Agreed Mike, thanks!
I stay to amazon considering I mostly get stuff for family like axes or wrenches etc. Made a duct tape slipjoint sheath with a clip and love it.
Hell, if it works it works. Great idea. 👍

Exactly! That slip seems perfectly built for the 6, which is an odd size for most other slips I've seen.

If you had told me two years ago that I would love slip joints, I'd call you crazy. Funny how things develop over time and tastes can change.
I never carried slip joints until I got one with a pocket clip from Collector knives. It was a really big deal for me.
They seem to have a good operation going at CK.
I think a slip adds a bit of class but not always needed....Nice collection of em.....Good stuff....
Hmmm, so when would you use one and when wouldn't you?
@@JTsKnifeLife For me I use a slip for my Buck 112 (kinds of a big knife but love it) and Case knife when going out for nice occasions....The other knives I just slip in my pocket for use but just my take....I do love a good slip though....
I hear you, thanks for the feedback man.
Always use slips they keep the knives nice and clean no pocket lint with a slip.
I guess i was wondering why you would need a slip. but you just answered my question.
True, it sure does make it easier to keep clean.
I carry a slip joint everyday. I never use a slip. Just adds another step to using the knife. I just don't see a point in it
I use a locking knife 90% of the time, and my slipjoint are a secondary carry that rarely see use unless I'm actively trying to use them. Very cool to get your perspective. I think if I used them more it would make sense to abandon the slip. Great point.
I don't have any slips so I never carry my blue Case ruslock. I need one.
I had a blue russlock once. Man I wish it had a clip hahaha
I've bought a few slips, ended up not using most of them and just carrying in the watch pocket.

Not really getting why you are worried about a tight fit. It's in your pocket, upright, knife's not going anywhere.
Well, I carry them in a cargo pocket slot, so that might be part of it. But honestly, I'm just OCD when it comes to that stuff.
@@JTsKnifeLife yeah ok that would make a difference, I was thinking jeans
The knives ship free slip looks and feels and smells great. Does it hold my knife? No, it does not. The knife doesn't even stay in the slip in pocket.
Mine kept breaking in and breaking in until knives just flopped right out of it.
I love my slips and I have certain slips for each knife that I want to carry. I cant find anything reasonable priced. All are 40 and above.
I used to never carry a slip because I like scratches and wear, but now I do because I can carry a pen in the same slip. Plus, it gives me an excuse to see another natural leather product patina.
I can relate. The leather itself adds a lot to the carry.

Great shop but Reviews by Rovin Ronan are unneeded sarcasm. This guy has nothing to do but troll RUclips.
Can't get metal complex's voice out of my head
I'm way cooler than he is. Plus, I'm older, so the voice was mine first.
