Great video. I still think I prefer the Curv. Robo vacs today almost have enough features to satisfy my fussy requirements to buy a new replacement vac, however I still have no money to buy one. 😂 Other features I'd like to see is better navigation, an air purifier/humidifier/dehumidifier inbuilt to the dock, & something to clean baseboards like the duster on the Narwal Freo Z ultra.
Thank you. Your real world tests (vs lab tests of other reviewers) shine a much brighter light on expected performance for these machines. Human hair build up is the #1 issue I have with my "old" S6 MaxV, and no Roborock model seems to have effectively solved the issue yet...though I am quite curious if the Curve can finally address this maintenance headache. Excited for your review!
Yea and throwing clumps of hair on the floor is just no where near the same. Thankfully I have 2 long hair girls and 3 cats so I have plenty of real world testing! So far the Dreame Tricut brush works wonders and so does the one in the Narwal Freo models. I'll have my review of the Curv out soon.
I ordered a S8 maxv ultra with anniversary sale and military discount. Suffice to say the amount of competition out there is fierce and I only went s8 since it was heavily discounted against eufy s1 pro and dreame x40….
Roborock has too many models, lol. There are 9 Q Revo models now. NINE!!! Love my Q Revo original, but my two issues are the lack of hot water, lack of corner vacuuming, and lack of edge mopping. These newer models seem to address all of this, but I'm not sure which of their NINE(!!!) models to go for 😂 My "dream robovac" is still an upgraded version of the Eufy S1 Pro with better edge and corner cleaning.
@@jamie.andrews how is it compared to the maxV? That got a great improve w the firmware update. So it's to understand if it's par now with it or it could become even better in the future. Many thanks
The self-cleaning dock is still kind of an odd choice to me. Do you find it reduces or increases maintenance compared to the original Qrevo? It seems you still have to clean the base. But now you have two pieces that need to be cleaned and more moving parts! Hopefully that bottom of the top part doesn't need to be cleaned because it looks like it has lots of small crevices.
You get it. It may allow you to go longer between cleanings. What I am about to tell you did not make the video cut, but I cleaned both trays and the Master took 10 seconds longer than the MaxV tray. I think it is a nice thing to have, but I would not consider it as part of my decision over the MaxV. Just not necessary.
It does not really compete with either of those. They have more features. The X series is Dreame's flagship models so those would compete with the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra which is Roborock's flagship line. The Qrevo line would compete with the Dreame L series.
I'm a fan of Roborock, had a few models, currently with S7 MaxV Ultra and planned to upgrade to their next line in 2025 (skipping the current s8). However kickstarter suggested me some new robot from chinese brand 3i - S10 ultra. Basically usual stuff like most top brands, the diff is that it is supposed to purity 100% of the dirt water, clean it and re-use it as clean (it doesn't even have a dirt water tank). In other words - no piping required. It would be awesome if you can do an honest review on that one since most of the things i find in youtube (which are really few) and not exactly reviewes, more like commercials.
@@jamie.andrews that's unfortunate. the water refinement sounds amazing but my doubts are starting to rise. the campaign is pretty short and on the whole youtube there is not 1 review that shows actual data and tests, only some "commercial" reviews.
@@venelinbakalov5945 That is because manufacturers try to control what reviewers say. Some try with me until I remind them they do not pay me and thus I have not signed a contract. The issue is they lump me in with the paid reviewers.
Hey Jamie, so for this model without the auto detergent dispenser fearture (like the s8 maxv), we'll need to pour the detergent straight into the water tank right? In my region, S8 maxv Ultra is $1,799 vs Qrevo Master on sale for $1,199, which one do you think I should get IYO? Thanks.
Yes you would have to pour the detergent into the tank. It would be a hard sell for my to pay that much more for the S8 MaxV even though it is mostly better.
Roborock has great navigation, but yes, cord avoidance isn't great. And none of the other reviewers call it on this. On the whole, though, Roborock makes a great robot.
I don't test that as it is nearly impossible. Many robots sling debris outside of the area and some robots only allow 2 passes. The way I do it allows you to compare the results of a single pass for each robot I have tested.
I was able to purchase an X30 Ultra for $690 Refurbed with 2 year warranty from dreame on ebay, but then I found the Qrevo master for $850 new with some coupon stacking, only 1 year warranty though. Wondering if you have any opinion between these 2 if the Qrevo Master is worth another $160?
@@jamie.andrews I have mine set up currently the refurbed x30 and it’s working flawlessly looked new I’m almost curious if it is brand new. Minus the refurbed part, do you think the QRevo Master is the better option?
@@VALORANTProtatomonster You may have gotten lucky. I'd keep it as long as you don't see any issues pop up. @@jamie.andrews in comparison to that QRevo master would you recommend it over? I mostly want good mopping. I feel as if the vacuuming will be sufficient on both for tile floors with only one rug in the home.
I feel like a lot of these Chinese-branded robot vacuums arent tweaked enough for the North American market in terms of carpet cleaning, navigation and obstacle avoidance.
@jamie.andrews I'm interested if the new Slim with "StarSight" can finally rival Dreame's navigation system. Paper specs don't always translate to the real world, is my reasoning. I'm kinda bummed out with Dreame, my Z10 Pro released in 2021, and stopped receiving updates in 2022. That's not what I would normally call a good investment, my "carpet boost" is still flagged as Beta for whatever reason all these years.
@@_TrueDesire_ Most robots released that long ago don't get updates. I think 2 years is about max from what I have seen. There are a few exceptions, but not many.
How does the Qrevo Master obstacle avoidance compare to the Qrevo MaxV after the MaxV's update? Also you mentioned in the S8 MaxV review that the flexi-arm brush didn't work that well, is the Qrevo Master's flexi-arm brush any different since you say it works well here?
QRevo Master and MaxV have the same obstacle avoidance hardware and after the last update on the MaxV it performs the exact same as the Master here. The Flexi Arm brush has been improved in corners for both the Master and the S8 MaxV Ultra however neither function in other places like under low lying furniture, doors and cabinets. That is a shame.

02.21.74 which is the latest. He only tests on hard floor surfaces which the Master does better on hard floor instead of carpet.
