Cat hater goes to a cat cafe

- Hey Fam, So I've got a lot of videos that I need to work on and post, but this was a priority. Kim was deathly afraid of cats because of childhood trauma, so it was a huge deal when she reached out and asked if we could accompany her to a cat cafe.
For those of you who are curious, we went to a cat cafe in Myeongdong and it was on the 4th floor. We got there by getting off at Euljiro 1-ga station, exit 5. You have to pay a set fee of 11,000 won, but you also get 2 free drinks. It's DIY but who cares.
Thank you for support, fam!
Better title would have been “scaredy cat goes to cat cafe” she doesn’t hate cats, she’s just scared of them. It would have been a cute play on words lol! Glad her friends are so supportive of her!
Oh Jessy, where were you when I was racking my brain for a decent title! That's way better! She's actually doing so much better now!
I like that!
@@pattrischeart I'm glad that she is . Wish her well !
I have a dear friend who is very fearful of all animals due to some childhood trauma. I myself was bitten by a dog before. It can be really hard to overcome those experiences. It so good she had supportive friends to help have some positive experience. I think it is good to be sensibly cautious about unknown animals, but it has to be stressful to be terrified like that.
I was about to say, she's not going around actively exterminating cats...
I am a cat person, but I don't really get people who are making fun of her for having a fear. Even she admits it's an "irrational" fear. I have an irrational fear of murky or dark waters, as if there's some giant monster hiding in a canal, but I do. And you guys have to remember that cats are like apex predators for their size. They are literal killing machines, no matter how cute they are, lol.
do you ever look at your cat and thank god you are bigger then them cause if you weren't it would kill you with no remorse 🤣🤣🤣
@@kjohnson8483 I have to keep reminding them that I'm the boss, lol.
I don't really like how the called her a cat hater. She's not a cat hater as she proves by bravely trying to get over her fear.
She just needs to be exposed to calm cats/kittens over time.
Also cat are the most prolific hunters in the entire world & I'm only talking about housecats like are in my next room.
Have you ever seen video of a truly feral never really seen people before cat in the Australian outback. It's like a completely different species. I love cats but I'm not touching those.
But even regular pampered pets kill a lot.
yeah its not nice to tease someone for having a phobia. i dont have this phobia as much anymore, but I once had a severe phobia of flies. the way they would fly around, the way they looked, and the buzzing would send me into a sensory overload panic. hearing about all the diseases they can carry didn't help either lol
Yessss, I love cats and have an irrational fear of dogs so I really related to her fear and how it can make you feel silly, but you can't help fear and I can really respect how she's trying to overcome it since most people (myself included) usually don't even try.
Seriously, if I went to a cat cafe that would be heaven for me
Samr
@Marx Ayie that's me

There’s a cat cafe somewhere near where I live, so I visit them as often as I can, I love cats!
@@NM-sg7fb awwww so lucky...
Do u have any cats or pets?
Could not have asked for a better pair of girlfriends to get over my irrational fear at a Cat Cafe. I wouldn't say I'm still terrified of cats but I wouldn't easily head to a cat cafe without backup again. Was a great day overall! 💛
So honoured to have been a part of that day. It was truly momentous! Can't wait to hear about you getting a munchkin cat one day 😂💗
You did SO WELL! You should be so proud of yourself X
Dogs killed 20,000 humans around the world each year. Cats kill 0 humans, and you are afraid of cats? That's ridiculous.
You did amazing. You should be seriously proud of yourself.
@@soyplebe7 oh right, so glad to finally meet someone that has zero irrational fears usually stemmed from personal experiences. Well done to you, here's a noddy badge!
Speaking as a person who has owned cats all his life, the thing with them is that you don't pick them, they pick you. They very much become like they are your children, I've had my current cat for 18 years, got her when I was 12 years old and she has been a consent companion in my life, but it takes a while for that trust to seep in, so yeah, it's all built on trust but like I said, you don't choose them they choose you.
I totally agree, I've had cats my whole life too. The cat I have now is a Sokoke n was my nieces cat n was awful for her, but when I got him he turned into a complete different cat. Hes very good, loveable, playful n follows me everywhere in the house. It helped too where I had him fixed, but I believe me n him was meant for each other.
@@Markgyver8240 exactly, perfect example of a cat choosing it's human.
If they let you touch their belly that means they trust you
I'm the cat whisperer. Other's people cats follow me home. My tuxedo tomcat cat isn't amused by the other furrlines that hang around.
While that CAN happen and, it's beautiful, don't forget that some cats need love to come out of their shell. When I adopted my cat Ozzy he was the only one there that hid in the back, frightened of new people. I just had a feeling he just needed love and security to bloom. I was right. He's a sweet, cuddly purr machine and very attached to me. When my husband is vacuuming Ozzy runs to me for comfort.
Sometimes the cat chooses you and sometimes you can reach out to a frightened feline and form a powerful bond through showing love first. Bonding with a pet can start out in all sorts of ways.
I’m so proud of her and her supportive friends. She has a phobia of cats, not hate of cats.
When this pandemic is over, I hope these places reopen, I really want to go to a cat cafe.
shes no cat hater at all! 'Just' cat phobia which is something very different altogether. and she did very well imho
yeah but that title wont get views
@@ariaaguilar9377 thats very true, - sadly
Lots of people confuse fear with hate. This is also true of people who are different from them. Some people have an irrational fear of another people group either because they are unfamiliar with them or because of past trauma. It’s unfair to the people they are afraid of, but it’s also unfair to label them as a hater because of their fear.
Kim, you showed tremendous courage! Facing a strong fear head on is always hard. A few meltdowns were extremely understandable. There were cats everywhere!
The moment she pet the cat for the first time made me tear up :') Such a sweet and touching moment knowing her fears started to quell and see her take a beautiful leap of faith. It takes a lot of courage to be vulnerable and her transformation by the end was so heartwarming. Best wishes for Kim and all her lovely friends that helped her overcome her fear!! ♡ bless yall ♡
Thanks so much! Kim can actually stay in the same room with a cat with little to no issues these days! Your words are so appreciated. You're a wonderful person ❤️
I think it's unfair to call her a cat hater. She's a model cat phobic.
She is a good friend helping her. She told her she was proud of her for going in and that’s so supportive. I hope more friends like this exist
This is so cool. I'm a cat lover and owner but can totally understand the fear associated with cats - that they can be unpredictable and if you've ever had a bad experience with a cat or have grown up thinking they can scratch and bite it can leave a lasting impression. All cats are different but their upbringing (in my experience) can make a huge difference to their temperament in adulthood. Cats all the way! xo
I definitely appreciate cats. Sometimes all you need is the right cat to change your whole point of view.
@@pattrischeart I WISH there was a Cat Café by me!!
I think the thing with fear is what causes it, because exposure and the realization that there is no threat is only half the battle, the other half is realizing why you perceived a threat, and deal with that issue as well.
The definition of bravery is someone who forces themselves to do something that terrifies them. Well done! 🙂 Cats are wonderful creatures. I hope you're realising that as you are overcoming your fear.
I think letting her hold a kitten is what she needs. The vulnerability of it and the mothering instinct might make her more receptive to a kitten than to an adult cat. Also, one kitten compared to a whole room full of adult cats would be frightening to anyone with her trauma. Make it one on one and she will be able to handle it easier.
"Cat hater"
*shows a woman who actually has ailurophobia*
There is a difference you know.
I would joke about having a cat phobia just so I could get taken to cat cafes but phobias aren’t anything to laugh at really. Kim did amazing!
People think cats can be super unpredictable, but while they can be, it’s usually because of some other pre-existing thing. For example, over stimulation. They have too much energy? They just ‘lash out’. Kind of like how a child ‘bounces off the walls’ when they are too excited or hyper. Occasionally, the cat does have some mental issue, but the majority of the time, it’s because the owner doesn’t know how to care for it. You did well! Cats in cat cafes are super chill and this was a good place to come to help overcome your fear.
Hey, don't judge her too much. I was also afraid of cats, once. I thought that they were going to eat me. Sure, I was 5 at the time, but still!!!
Haha age doesn't matter! Every fear is valid!
Brave woman to get over her fear so quickly. She clearly were ready to deal with this problem and she did.
I agree! Anyone who tries to brave their fears is very courageous
😂😂
Hey, WOMAN, you rock! You're confident enough to admit to a fear some might find strange, and brave enough to face it. You can't imagine what an important step you've taken. There will be lots of scary things in your life, and now you know how to handle them. Congrats!
Thank you for your kind and uplifting words, Glenda! I've relayed them to Kim!
I use to be afraid of cats as a little kid but then we adopted an older cat when I was 12 and I've owned cats ever since. And I can honestly say I think I prefer cats over dogs just because they are easier to take care of and Arnt as needy. Don't get me wrong I still love dogs but if I had to pick I would have cats
I have the same feeling; I used to be a huge dog lover growing up, but I was influenced because my parents didn’t like cats. Once I was out on my own I adopted a cat and fell in love with them, now we have 3 and I don’t think I’ll ever own a dog again. I love dogs still, but I am DEFINITELY a cat person!
I’ve never had a dog but I’ve always had cats and I really don’t know much about dogs and I’m always slightly scared to try and pet one not that they would hurt me but I feel like the owners of the dogs thought I was weird for not know how to pet one. But they are cute ngl.
@@blesmol5091 if you approach a dog that is friendly and aloud to pet I would recommend to let the dog sniff you and try to stay confident then after it's done sniffing you pet it on the the back because they prefer to have their bodies touches rather than their faces. (At least my dogs when meeting a stranger)
@@Lucylovesferg oh thank you I’ll try doing that next time

One does not simply let a cat walk by without petting it!
Agreed

Agreed. If it comes by u and seems Friendly: i will try to pet it. A Few wks ago when i was at Waffle house, I saw an Injured kitten!!! Friend that works at WH, was gonna set a trap, so he could take it to Rescue. Have to get an Update on the lil Angel
I would… but it would be to avoid breaking out in hives and my throat closing up. If I wasn’t allergic though, it would completely agree.
Try kittens. No one can be afraid of kittens, not for long.
I agree! It just depends on the kitty, if it's a playful one. Playful kittens almost always have their claws out and play with anything! Lol
@@cowboythebrother clipping the tips of their nails helps. My friend called the babies she was taking care of “Velcro kitties” since when they attached themselves to you or something else, it was tricky to get them unhooked 🙂. But once we trimmed just the tips, it was much better. Also good to get them used to nail trimming. I have a cat now that was not socialized enough as a kitten and HATES having his nails trimmed.
Also, we adaopted my granddad's cat when he passed away, if you need a cat to get over fear of cats, she is the perfect one, she never scratches or bites and she's always looking for someone to give her attention she will sit with you and make you feel like you are needed.
As a cat lover, I am SOO PROUD of her. I know this is 3 years old already, but it’s no small feat to overcome a fear like that. Especially a fear from childhood. Cats are such awesome little creatures. I hope she is way more comfortable around them now. Again, good damn job. I know it wasn’t easy.
Cats are sweethearts, the most beautiful little animals.
I couldn't agree more
I am completely mad in love with cats.Love them more than anything or anybody else.
This place is so nice!!! This cats are so chill and friendly!
It really is! It's a place in Myeongdeong and to be honest, for $10 , that's really not bad
@@pattrischeart I follow a Cat cafe in Florida and they have the CUTEST KITTIES. New ones every few days and Adoptions ALMOST Every weekend
Cats are amazing creatures, sad that they're misunderstood by many.
aw, girl! so proud of you. your friends are such an awesome support system too. cats used to scare me too, and now i have three cats 😂 and i love them very much.
12:10 One of the most gorgeous cats I’ve ever seen. Such beautiful silver fluffy fur!!
At 12:40 - the little finger pet 😂
But seriously, kudos to her for overcoming her fears!
i know this was from 2019 but it popped up in my recommended. all of you are amazing and this was great to watch. i honestly wasnt sure how this would go but was very happy with how it did. Kim is very brave, the idea alone of wanting to overcome something like that takes a lot of courage but to go out and do it head first took a lot of bravery and courage. glad she had great friends with her to help her though it. she put her whole hand on that little cat and gave him some pets! so much progress has been made thanks to you all 🥰
If someone has a fear of heights as a friend you take them to the cn tower,
You don't how ever force them on to the glass floor.
Letting her be around cats without forcing her to hold touch or interact with them
was the right thing to do. Getting over a fear takes time.
Pretty overwhelming. Poor thing and poor kitties too.
She made it thru the cheetah room next, but when she got to the lion room, it was bad
Keeping the cat distracted while Kim made first contact was a really good strategy!
She did SO good! I was deathly afraid of dogs (bad experience + very sensitive to sudden noises like barking) and managed to make it better thanks to my boyfriend's dog (he is the sweetest, kindest doggie), but I understand so well how scared she must have felt, so I'm even MORE impressed with how brave she was in the end. She petted the cats and played with those kitties and came out of the cafe much less scared than she was in the beginning. Thank you for being so supportive of her, I loved how you made her feel good about even just STEPPING into the Cafe, 'cause you understood how hard it must have been for her.
I'm so glad she felt better at the end!
I know that this video is two years old already, but wow, it's so brave of her to face her fear of cats. And in such a public place, no less! Props to her! Wow!
The kids in the background are clearly atressing the cats out (prob bcs of the level off noise, sudden loud sounds & the hustle bussle & the cat's aren't used to it)..
The layout of the place is inhancing the sounds/noise..
Cats have better hearing than dogs, sooo they HATE loud sounds, screaming etc
I disapprove of the video's title. She doesn't hate cats, she's afraid of them. There's a BIG difference.
I wish there were cat cafes in Korea when I was stationed there. That would have been a great stress relief.
I'm Proud of her for Facing (With Support) her Fear/phobia. She is very Brave and Strong. Congratulations 🎊
Thank you! She now can be around cats without any troubles so I would say it helped her a lot. She was very brave 👏
I feel like she just needed to meet a few super cute kittens. This seemed overwhelming for her but no one is afraid of little kitties
Me with my cat phobia watching this to get over it
Hahaha not really a foolproof plan but the first step to overcoming a phobia is at least trying to get over it
I think the thing is, you just need to find the right cat and get them to pick you, rather then you picking them. Plus it takes a lot of paitences as well.
The excitement and happiness I felt for Kim! I’m so proud of you! You conquered your fear! And your friends helping you I think they’re true friends.
I've been a dog lover my whole life never was i comfortable around cats until one day a little ball of Fur showed up in my patio love at 1st sight 5 years later I am still in love my kitty Mr pickles
What a lovely story! So happy for you and Mr Pickles! ❤️
Mr.pickels☺️
You all are awesome friends! It is so cool that you were there to help a friend have a different experience and a more realistic experience with cats. I am sorry she experience a traumatic moment with cats when she was young. Now she knows that the trauma maybe part of her but it doesn't make her. I hope she can now pass a on the street with much less anxiety. Great video and thank you for sharing this wonderful moment! ☺👍🏼🐱🐾🌼
I`ve heard that people who don`t like cats will not look at them. Cats don`t like being stared at, so will naturally be drawn to that type of person so it`s a vicious circle. A friend of mine loves cats but has trouble connecting. Another friend doesn`t like cats and my cat makes a bee-line for him and ends up sitting on his knee. Now they are great friends wether he wants it or not.....lol He`s fine with it now.
OMG I've been to this cat cafe!!!! It's super cute and the drinks were really tasty. Lovely video!!!
She did a great job! 👍🏼☺️
I was so happy for Kim when she was able to touch the kitties.
Phobias are difficult to overcome and this was such great progress/ To be willing to even go there in the first place is a big step. But then she pet some cats too. And played as well. Good to have support from friends.
The little one at your feet looks like a Maine coon they are super affectionate and love to be close by ❤️
She’s not a cat hater but someone who has a phobia about cats.
It’s legit: You don’t like cats until you get a cat
Cat person: I am so scare of running and screaming kids...
Definitely needs to see/hold a kitten. Whole different experience.
yay Kim! so proud of you. Such wonderful supportive friends. You faced your fears and I loved seeing your beautiful smile the last part of the video. lovely video.
I’ve had cats my entire life and each one of them different than the other. My current cat is indoor/outdoor previously a feral barn cat. She is an avid hunter, kills and eats mice for a snack. Lays on the kitchen table, and begs for ‘tastes’ when I cut meat to cook. On the flip side, she’s not skiddish and will greet people who visit, says hello (meow).
Recently adopted a new cat (sadley the two cat I mentioned in my last comments passed away, they were old ladies and had fun and happy lives) and yeah as I said in my last comments, you don't pick the cat, the cat picks you. The newest addition to my family, when I went to see her at the shelter sat on my lap and purred and has been doing that every day since bringing her home. A true example of the cat picking it's human. Cats love in a way that dogs don't, cats are more sutble in how they love you in my opinion.
The cats looked like they were having fun!
Oh be still my heart! I could watch & play with them all day!❤❤❤❤❤
I am so proud of her. I used to work with people who were afraid of dogs, and it's really a terrible fear. She really challenged herself and she has a lot ot be proud of. Oh, and I think she needs to adopt a kitten. LOL
17:43
Thats a Beautiful cat look ar her tail and she choosed you
Hate and scared are two different things. Hate is a strong negative feeling that can incur violence. This is fear. I don't hate dogs but i fear them after i was attacked by a dalmatian.
So proud of her. She overcame her phobia!
Thanks so much! She's actually doing much better these days and able to stay in a room with a cat with no problems!
Notice how the cats start gravitating to the person who doesn't want to be around them?
Really! I'm a Cat Lover and would love to go to THAT Cat Cafe. They have a lot of breeds... it'd be like going to a Cat Show. I saw a Bengal, two Munchkins, a Singapora, two Snowshoe Siamese and a British Shorthair... and the video has just begun. Oh, those Cats aren't cheap!
Success!!!
I really think if she got her own little kitten, she would be a very loving pet owner, realize that pet is like a child and you can bond so strongly with them, and experience the joy us cat people know daily.
Each kitty is their own personality; we have 5 who are an endless parade of love, drama, giggles goofiness, comfort, and sweetness.
Actually Kim is doing much better these days and is virtually not afraid of cats anymore!
Cats are the most loving creatures and SO BEAUTIFUL 😍
She doesn't hate them, she is scared of them. Cats know when you are scared of them. One time I brought my cat to a friends house and there was a woman there who was terrified of my cat. She was back against the wall freaking out and my cat just kept walking towards her. A cat cafe is probably not the best way to get over this fear.
Having a phobia is not the same thing as being a hater.
Nawww I need to do a cat cafe. I miss having a cat or any animals!! ❤️ Well dome Kim 👍
i'm so prouf of her for trying to stop this fear ! it's a big step !!
A lot of cats will gravitate to people who are sitting quietly and not chasing after them because they usually prefer to approach humans at their own pace. If someone who's ailurophobic is aware of this beforehand, they might be more prepared to face a cat's approach than if they didn't know their avoidant behavior might accidently be appealing to cats.
Wow, good for her. She did well. I didn’t realise how loud those places are though. Cats have got very sensitive hearing; it must be so stressful for them 😢
It's great she has good and patient friends to help her get over her fear 👍👍👍👍👍 Everyone needs great friends like that!!!
Those are some very kind words, thanks Dale!
cat haters traumatizing event: cat scrathces them for pulling their tail
dog haters (my) traumatizing event: our dog almost killed a little girl who didn't even do anything in front of us. 60-something stitches and she was like 4. our neighbor's Pitbulls killed a kitten and their owner always threatened to turn her Pitbulls on us. I hate dogs
fukn bad I agree with you
I was bitten by my babysitter's dog when I was five. Ripped my lip halfway off my mouth. I still love dogs (and cats). And the very important thing to remember is that it's not the dog; it's the owner. There aren't bad dogs. There are just bad dog owners that don't train/aren't in tune with their dogs.
@@RockStarVee actually there have been lot of studies done on pitbull attacks, they are almost always random, not from abused households. idk about other dog species, though
@@certainlysoup508 There is always signs but most people do not always see them. Strong breeds like Pitbulls, shepherds need strong owners. I do not mean abusive owners. If you spoil a strong breed and let it do what it wants you are asking for trouble. A interesting fact ...Small dogs bite far more than big dogs. We just do not hear about them because Thier bite does not do the damage a big dog does. Most people do not report small dog bites. If people reported small dogs many would be put down if they were treated like big breeds.
@Akeelzzz I do not hate dogs. Not sure where you got that idea. I grew up with dogs and have owned dogs and cats. All animals will give a warning but most people do not recognize it.
Kim you did so well.. The cats were adorable.. Great job girls.
Where she feared to go, I would give anything to go! Bring on the cats!
I love cats with every bone in my body and can't imagine being scared of them, but phobias are like that. I think maybe they should have started with showing her a tiny, teeny, vulnerable foster kitten that needs love, let her bottle feed it, hold it. Then work up to other cats, maybe one at a time. I mean, for how scared she is, this is a lot of cats...
This is a human room for the cats, they’re the ones deciding if they wanna play with their chosen human or not..😂
Omg yes!
This is really sweet and wholesome.
Nom Nom.

I love cats but I'd be wheezing, sneezing and my eyes would be big red golf balls
I’m allergic to cats as well. I envy people who can pet cats without having symptoms.
How can anyone hate cats? They are such adorable creatures.I sleep with four in my bed.
Seeing me doing this with spiders ... nope.

Title should be changed into Scaredy Cat goes to a Cat Cafe
If you are scared of cats, of course they will go to you lol. They will hack their way until you love them.
Kim.
You faced your fear, and went in there with the "evil ones".
Now you know they're cool.
Well done, you!
I actually love cats but I have a fear of all those steps you have to climb to get to the cat cafe. It must be due to a horrible incident as a kid where I had to climb lots of steps, perhaps to a dentist office?
Who can tell me what kind of these cars who have a big tail? They are very beautiful!
They're called Maine Coon cats. They have huge tails that are very fluffy.
AHAHAHAHAHAHA OH MY GOD KIM :') and lol Patty you'd definitely be a munchkin cat if you were a cat...
I do like cats. I had 5 cats in my lifetime. Only one cat that I disliked was my grandmother’s cat. That cat was one person cat. She hated everybody except for my grandmother. My favorite cat that I had was my second cat that my family adopted from being a stray. He was so sweet, friendly, gentle, and a big cat. He was my best friend, too. He had a special bond with me. Some of the cats that don’t like strangers in their home. I encounter a few of those cats. I’m an animal lover.
Thanks for sharing your story! Cats are really unique and it's so nice to hear about people's bond with their cats. 😊
I liked the cat with the tail
I liked the cat that was really cute (all of them :D)
I'd have started her with a tiny newborn kitten. Then add it's siblings. Then provide milk replacer, bottles & everything needed to raise them. After which I'd immediately go out of town so she couldn't find me & give them back. She'll be cured in about 6-8 weeks.
So happy for this lady!!!
