Everything about this clip is amazing. The art style, the animation quality, baby Renge and Candy Store being cute together, the sound effects and the lovely peaceful music.
But then they grow up and become assholes that steal and kill and all that. But of course, there are plenty of factors to take into consideration for that.
It doesn't matter how old you were watching this, we are lucky to have this anime becoming a part of our lives all the way from the first to repeat. Now we would have NONSTOP in 2021, our prayers have been finally answered, life never gets so much better.
Candy Store not being just a business but also having an actual relationship with Renge is quite wholesome. The good people being friends may be one of the best things about villages. I don't live in a village but there was a shop on the opposite side of my uncle's house in our hometown village. We had so much fun with him and their younger son. He is like a brother of my dad and relatives. Then, their neighbors across the street(a 5-10m village street, don't imagine one of the city streets with traffic to avoid) wanted to open the shop under their home building, which was vacant since my childhood. They took the business from the other shop, who was starting to get old, and his son got married recently so he didn't have help(my retired uncle was sometimes helping the shop). Now, the new shop is run by a couple and my relatives also are friends with them. My mom and uncle's wife sometimes have chats with the woman and their relative on the upper floors(the old woman usually talks from the balcony :D). See? These shops are not just shops. People there know each other and sometimes are close friends. Me, my dad, the old shopkeeper, and a villager friend of theirs were having chats at night on the bench on the opposite side of the street(currently the new shop's front) and eating sunflower seeds from the shop together. Ants living under road stones were collecting the shells meanwhile. Since they didn't have a fixed schedule, he was closing the shop after we end the chat.
Watching this series for the 1st time in 2019. This episode (e.10) is my favorite so far. I relate to it because a similar thing happened to me when my niece was a baby. She used to throw a lotta tantrums & hostile to people other than her parents... but one night as she, my sister (her mom) and I were walking home, she suddenly held out her hand to me, asking me to hold her. She went on to sleep in my arms and I was instantly smitten with her. She's an adult now, starting a career as a diplomat. Still short-tempered sometimes but also clever & laid back. Whenever we meet we'd play boardgames or magic the gathering together. I'm a very proud uncle.
Candy Store is a character I don't think of much, she isn't really special in many ways, but if she does cross my radar or if someone asks who's best mom in anime, it's time to praise the goddess
This in theory that Renge's parents wasn't revealed, mostly bc they're at work in the fields or relatively just gone outside. (pretty much said in the manga, but I'm not telling you to read the manga for yourself as both versions are just as peaceful as the other :) )
