- An undercut bob is a bob haircut with shaved sides and nape underneath the hair. If you’re up for this bold and really cool women’s haircut, then you’re in the right place!
First things first - “before you get an undercut, ask your stylist if they think it would suit you, as it completely changes your hair density,” Florida-based hairstylist and owner of Boho House Salon, Michele Sanford, shares exclusively.
“A bob undercut is going to always give a slimmer look. A low undercut will give you more weight, whereas a high undercut will give you much less hair. It’s one of the most effective and prettiest ways that my pixie girls grow out their hair,” she tells us.
With this in mind, checking what type of hair you have would be extra helpful, especially if you’re dealing with lots of hair! “Undercuts are best for thick hair. Its purpose is to remove a lot of weight from the sides and back, allowing thicker hair to be more manageable.”
As for your must-have styling products, Sanford recommends texture sprays or anything that adds definition, movement, or texture. This way, you’ll look as first-rate as when Malin Akerman, Chloe Sevigny, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Ellie Goulding sported an undercut with their bob haircuts!
Finally a stylist shaved the nap with a heart point! If your aim is to keep a short cut feminine, it’s so much nicer than a blunt line. Beautiful cut for her.

I love your perscision the difference between a good hairdreser and a great hairdreser is in the combing it makes a much cleaner and neater cut ,and you do switch up your bobs and don't always do old-fashioned mushroom or stalked backed bobs it suited the client perfectly

Short hair is in vougue much more nowadays. Long hair is nice too but its boring and a hassle to upkeep and it gets old. I learned you can do much more on short exotic, ethnic hairstyles, those for African Americans, Latinos, etc than with long hair. I love exotic, ethnic hairstyles particularly for people of color. I'm Mediterranean and semitic Israeli and have dark black, thick,curly hair with a beautiful olive Mediterranean complexion. I got my hair cut into a short pixie, exotic and ethic style. Its great complete with very nice sideburns and highly textured, layered bands. I do a great makeup job, use my large, gold hoop earrings and its like I'm on holiday on some island everyday. Short hair can be a lot of fun and this young lady appears Latino and it looks great on her.

I’m trying to find a person to cut my hair that knows how to cut short hair cuts hard to find. I’m a beauty operator myself so I know what I’m doing. Same here in Florida…I’m giving it one last shot by going to a luxury salon and paying $100 for the haircut…if that doesn’t come out right then I give up.
I'm a hairdresser, 18 years experience. I can only speak for myself, but I think it's likely true for most of us: If your cut doesn't come out like the picture, it's entirely possible they just actually don't know how to do it. We all learned in a specific way at a specific time, we end up attracting clients who like what we CAN do, so we don't often even see people who want what we can't do. Should we still be able to figure it out? Probably? Maybe? But you still often can't really tell what's going on from a picture. And even if the hairdresser in question were to follow a video tutorial step by step, my cut will still look different from my colleague's cut. We all have some signature moves, you might say.
But there are some other issues too. These tutorials especially utilize models with hair that's perfect for what they want to demonstrate. If that guy did that cut on someone else, it could look very different depending on what he/she is working with.
What I would suggest is finding a hairdresser whose own hair is like what you want, OR whose clients have the hairstyle you want. I have most of my life had short hair, and I've had maybe one or two haircuts that were what I wanted/asked for right out of the gate. Because it's so hard to get what I want, I have really honed in on what works and what doesn't for my style, and as a consequence, I have gotten a lot of clients who want my haircut. Ironically, I can give it to them better than I can get it. But ask me to do a "wedge" and I'll be like, "oh man...do I have to?" (Which is partly because I do French cutting and it's kind if antithetical to the wedge, and it's very uncommonly asked for.) Good luck!

Her neckline could’ve been cleaned up better. With her hair being so dark any hair left behind is really noticeable. The cut was ok. The back could’ve been blended better and more weight could’ve been taken out. It also could’ve been styled with less volume. I don’t think a round brush should’ve been used. I doubt the client will style it that way. I didn’t like the color that was left either. Looked strange in the back with short tips of color.
