Joy wasn’t really a villian, she just failed to understand how important sadness was, and how important all the other emotions are, besides, she lacks moral agency issues due to being the embodiment of happiness, her character did get a lot better in inside out 2

She and the other emotions excluded Sadness because she thought she was bad for Riley. Joy is what I would like to call an “anti-hero”. Someone who is trying to be nice but in a bad way. She forced toxic positivity to Sadness and treated her like crap because well, she’s Sadness. But to me, Sadness is the MVP. She saved Riley, helped the gang get back to headquarters in the second film and just a great character. She’s too relatable. But Joy only saw the bad in Sadness instead of seeing the good. Again, Joy is an amazing character. But has a lot of flaws.

The more I grow up the more I realize Joy was not all that positive. She emotionally abuses the other emotions by forcing them to only to be happy and forbidden to not be happy.
