Wrote this with Mackelmore. Unfortunately he passed away.
Macklemore is able to describe the symptoms so well because he was an addict. Several of his songs are about his own struggles with substance abuse. That's why none of his songs, unlike a lot of other artists', glorify it.
Macklemore has a few more bangers. I think he is a little underrated in the rap world. Especially when he does talk about deep stuff like on this song or others (Kevin,Drug Dealer, Wednesday Morning, White Privilege 1&2, just to name a few) he really delivers. This year i will go to my third Macklemore concert. He has such a great energy on stage. Would love to see you reacting to more of his stuff

Neon Cathedral is one of the most creative songs i've ever heard. I remember listening to the album (which I had done tens of times at that point) and never really listened to it. But for some reason I was laying on my couch with my eyes closed when it played and I'll never forget the feeling of actually listening to the words so closely for that first time. It shook me and now I show it to everyone.

Yes Macklemore used to be an addict and relapsed once on tour about a decade ago and then during lockdown but he’s clean now!

Im 8 years clean from heroin and i am never going back. My baby girl being born and my wife saved my life. Friends and family of mine are dead now from the same drugs i was doing just a couple years later. R.I.P
Lost my best friend to heroine, lost my life mentor to oxycotten. Drugs are horrible. And if you think weed aint a drug it is. Yes its a plant but its a drug. Just like cocaine its also a plant but also a drug.
Starting Over, Wings, Faithful, and many more of his songs would be great for this channel!

No he’s saying youll always be an addict at that point, so stay away from the substance. If you didn’t make it to that point you can dabble and not have your system and thought process hijacked

I just love how into the music you get man. I just love your video's so much, your dissection of the music and lyrics, sometimes shining a light on things i missed and other times confirming my previous listens of a track. Your video's have also helped me listen to some songs on a deeper scale and really absorb their messages to help with my own mental health. Just amazing stuff, love watching your videos.
