my ion cracked in the same way and it worked for a while but the crack did end up getting worse and eventually it broke completely. im not 100% sure but i think if you bought your ion recently you can get like a refund or a replacement ion if your show proof of it breaking or something. my ion broke out of warranty so i couldn't do it but you should look into that and check.
