Take Good Photos At a Mediocre Location!

What do you shoot when there's no interesting background? Not all landscape photography locations are created equal. Yes, we have the freedom to choose our location so might as well choose an epic one, but every now and then we have to shoot a mediocre location as well. In that case, I encourage you to go smaller. Look for interesting trees, beaches, rocks, plants and so on to photograph. Going smaller might save you your photoshoot. Shooting epic locations is easy. Mediocre locations on the other hand are not so easy but those are the ones that force you to think outside of the box and come up with some creative subjects and angles. In my case all I had to work with was some tall grass and some fallen tree trunks. Not much, but luckily I found some interesting logs and I managed to walk away with a couple of photos that are worth sharing. When you have to work extra hard to find a good frame, observation is key. Take your time looking at your potential subjects and when you do find one, try different angles.
