Hi, as an islander (PEI), I am happy to see you enjoyed your brief stay with us. I am sorry that your visit was cut short with Fiona and hope that you come back to visit us again. While it is true we have few official "boondocking" spots we have hundreds of places you can spend a night or two without anyone bothering you. Pretty much any of the public access beaches are fair game for a night or two as long as you don't set up camp too much. My compliments on a nice channel, all my best.
Thanks! I appreciate the nice words and am glad you are enjoying our channel. We are definitely returning. Your island was so beautiful, and there’s a lot to see, so we really want to try again. It seemed like there was always another wonderful spot over the next hill. We had planned on continuing east to Newfoundland but had to eliminate that part too, as well as the north end of Nova Scotia. We could probably spend an entire summer in Atlantic Canada! Good to know about additional camp spots too.
Coastlines can surely be gorgeous! We would definitely book out as well... It would be an amazing experience as I love storms but not worth the risk! Wha an adorable park... Do you guys use iOverlander all the time? Be safe guys!! 💙Terry and Terri
Yes, we relied on iOverlander for probably 90 percent of of our "wild camping" locations. After a while, we learned to recognize those types of spots and where to find them. Another phone app is called US Public Lands (costs $5 or less) and has a map overlay of all federal public types of lands, although not all are available for camping. Many more in the west than in the east, but it was useful too. There are similar apps for public Canadian lands (Crown Land).
We thought that we have experienced some serious winds on this trip, but we had no idea what awaited us if we stayed on the coast during a hurricane.
