    good idea to periodically check the antenna is still extendable, as mine was absolutely stuck, possible due to sea spray over the unit.

    Do you ever get more than two flashes for a battery test on a brand new unit? We have not.

      On an new unit there should be only 1 green flash on a self test to show that the battery is new (i.e used less than 1 hr). Multiple amber flashes will only be displayed if the battery has been used for more than 1hr.

      @@Force4Chandleryltd Thank you for this explanation! I understood the times indicated in the table to be hours of use LEFT, but no I understand that it's how long the battery has been used for. Thank you so much for the clarification!

      Yes, you can use your PLB anywhere in the World. When you register your PLB, make sure you give emergency contacts who will know where you are if you need to activate the PLB in an emergency.
      As you are registering the device to you, an individual it works, on a global scale. Making sure your emergency contacts are aware of where you are and the activities you are doing will aid and speed up rescue efforts.
