    To those who criticise Jack Rowe slurry speech, etc, get this: The man had Parkinson's disease for at least 7 or 8 years, at the time this video was made. Jack persisted in this, because the love of his craft-gunsmithing- kept the mans spirits up, when he wanted to dither. That's a remarkable man with old-school dedication & please show some respect.

    In a world of so much technology these videos are the ones i love i have a side by side AYA no 3 magnum Which is 40 years old i use it for waterfowl and would never sell it This video bring you back to a time when shotguns were simple and effective now days its all about semi autos.pumps and everything technical Jack Rowe is a old world craftsman and will be missed

    • @chrismc410
      @chrismc410 3 года назад +1

      Shotguns still are simple and effective. John Moses Browning was also very much into simplicity though he practically pioneered repeating shotguns, lever, pump and semiautomatic operation with the M1887: Though the lever action did prove the concept of a repeating shotgun viable, even Browning didn't like this design and thought more could be done.
      Browning found a better design with the M1897: a pump shotgun that many still consider still sets the standard by which other pump shotguns are judged.
      The Auto-5: with Browning's work into semiautomatic pistols and fully automatic rifles and machine guns, he figured why not apply it to shotguns? He did, and the Auto-5 was born. Variants of the Auto-5 are also still made today.
      As far as complexity goes, like most anything Browning designed, very few parts are needed given the tasks they perform that other manufacturers today make more complex.
      The repeating shotguns he designed and pioneered were no exception. As far as all three go, they all worked on the same basic principle.
      The only real difference between them was what was driving repeating cycle: the shooter in the case of the lever or pump-action or the gun's energy in the case of semiautomatic.

    Larry Potterfield should be more of the face of the gun-rights people. he looks so fatherly, friendly, good teacher and evne slightly nerdy (in a good way) many dudes are akin to James Yeager(nothing wrong with that but the general public are probably scared of dudes like him. you can't be scared of Larry :)

    Didn't Jack say he was 76 in a previous vid, so wouldn't that make him 8 years old in 1946 when he was looking for a trade???

    • @Battleganz
      @Battleganz 10 лет назад +1

      The more I look at Jack the more he appears to be close to 90. Both he and Larry have grey hair, which confused me at first, but just looking at the way Jack moves leads me to believe that he's closer to 90 than to 80.

    • @MarineAqua45
      @MarineAqua45 8 лет назад +5

      He was born in 1936, so he was 10 or so when he was looking for a trade. Kids in those days left school really early to work in order to feed their families. I know one guy who left school at 12, in 1930, in order to work as a docker (longshoreman) in East London. Working-class Jack Rowe was probably told to go out & get a job by his mum. That was common then until the 70s.

    • @MarineAqua45

      Slugs are still legal in Britain, just more restricted.

    • @eleveneleven572
      @eleveneleven572 7 лет назад +1

      Why this myth that guns are illegal in the UK? True they are restricted (unless you are a criminal or terrorist 😯) but most people can acquire a shotgun and rifles for large game like deer can be obtained with an upgraded permit.

    • @MrPaddy1000111
      @MrPaddy1000111 6 лет назад +1

      Not sure what this "Gun's are banned" thing is either? Only things that are banned in the UK are auto rifles and pistols unless you have a balance weight on the back and a 12" barrel. We just have better background checks for a licence so we don't have nut jobs getting them. Everything from medical history to speeding tickets are taken into account.
