Many thanks to Ryan for his generosity and warmth, and to Ashwitha for stepping in front of the camera, allowing me to focus on the technical gymnastics (of which there were many)! Also, a special thank to the unnamed Con volunteer who staunchly blocked glare for 20 minutes by holding up a sheet of paper as we shot! I know I have to suffer for my channel, but there was no need for her to 😁!
This was such a lovely interview! Awesome job, Ashwitha. Side note: I’ll recommend you 3D print a box with an embossed FTLOC logo to go around that mic 😬
Haha at least a cardboard one? Definitely more do-able than a neon sign! Thanks so much, and I second the applause for Ashwitha (although I may be biased) 😁
So glad you enjoyed it; I too loved all the details he shared in a quick chat! Not only are his comics so much fun, he's also such a warm and generous person! I know I have a new book of his to get to, and I'm even tempted to try the FF comics he's writing!
@ The FF title is the only Marvel I read these days. It still has a lot of fun Ryan North details and feel. It is mostly one and done stories and each issue focus on some interesting idea that you can see North explore. I think it is worth the read, even though the art is sometimes only okay any has to fit into the large Marvel Universe
Thrilled you enjoyed it and I completely agree on not just the writer and the interviewer but especially how great that camera guy was... Did you know that the angle and space required he kneel on the concrete for the full shoot?! 😁
Great interview, Ashwitha! An unexpected pleasure to see you in front of the camera for this one. I think Ryan North is a really interesting creator that would benefit from a longer interview at some point too. He's done some very interesting work from what you highlighted here, to Fantastic Four, Danger and Other Unknown Risks, and more. Great stuff!
Thank you; so glad you enjoyed it! And yes, Ryan North has quite a streak going in my book, so I'm definitely tempted by the FF and now will look up Danger.... Thanks for the recommendation!
Great interview💪🏻I only have Slaughterhouse from his works and it was very good. One of those comics I knew immediately to have plenty of re-reading value.
Thank you! The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is a lighthearted goof of a Marvel comic that's perfect for people who don't read Marvel comics - you should definitely give it a try and see what you think! And I, too, have a couple of recommendations here in the comments that I need to check out!
Ohhh Ryan North. I love their version of Slaughter House 5 - which given Kurt Vonnegut is my favourite author is very VERY impressive. Great interview.
I love Vonnegut too, and would have thought Slaughterhouse Five almost impossible to adapt. But then again, Ryan North got me invested in superhero crossovers with Squirrel Girl, so I guess he's not afraid to tackle the impossible 😁
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl was one of my unmitigated joys a few years ago when he last visited! You should definitely give Slaughterhouse-Five a look, if you get a chance!
Sir, Remember me ? And my request to you to explore the creations of Padmashree Narayan Debnath ? Have you come across any English translations of his works like ‘Bantul The Great’ (बाँटुल दी ग्रेट), ‘Nonte-Fonte’(नोंटे-फोंटे), ‘Handa-Bhonda’ (हॉदा-भोदा) ? I just wrote the Hindi words hoping you would be able to pronounce it a bit easily. I am writing this comment because I have come across few English translations of his works in a departmental store. So if you keep a pinky promise of doing an episode on his works, I would be happy to send you few books through mail. Please do send your post address if you read this. :)
Haha given the chaos and unscheduled nature endemic to my channel, i never make any pinky promises. But I always try my very best! 😁 So lovely to hear of the reprints!

North has covered a wide range of stories…i wasn’t even aware of the ones covered here. Fantastic job interviewing!
