Turtle following you is most likely a companion. Also the timer music is kind of a bonus thing. I believe if you gather everything before the timer ends you get a chest? Edit: if you find yourself low on money sell cooked meals, they’re great for getting money early
There are chests and collectable items in other houses and your own if you see a chest in someones house or something that shines collect it or open it
When your inventory is full you can put it in your storage at your house.
