Ooooh Kalyn, you are so pure. 2 weeks ago I decided to apply for a role that I love, because I would like to change department within my company. I was surprised at the way I handled the stress interview related and did an amazing job at presenting myself; but when I finished a wave of anxiety completely overwhelmed me! Could not wait/breathe/stop thinking obsessively/sleep/work properly/calm down for an entire week, until I got the HR email saying that I was not selected for the role... I literally shattered into pieces. After crying my eyes out with disappointment, I poured a glass of prosecco (bought for a possible celebration) and danced madly in front of Taylor's concerts on my big screen. Because anxiety symptoms resemble excitement, I decided to transform my status of pain into frantic joy. The anxiety was gone. F*ck the job, f**k the opportunity, I did not fail, maybe someone was just better than me at that thing or more qualified than me, but this does not make me less worthy or good! You are right, working out and increasing serotonin in our body helps reducing anxiety. I also shut down all my devices and go out in the nature to find myself when things are getting really bad; it always works! Nature never fails to heal my soul ❤ (I love those yoga cards)

It’s so grounding to see that other people also deal with anxiety and mental health. Anxiety sucks so bad but seeing how other people cope helps me find other methods to try for myself. Your honesty is so refreshing in an age when everyone is trying to be perfect all of the time.

Hey Kalyn, I already said it during the live stream yesterday but I want to say it again (even though I'm not even done watching the video) - thank you so much for being so open, honest, and vulnerable especially in the Koze community lives. I feel like you help a lot of people all around the world with that - including me! When you talked about anxiety and how it feels, I literally wanted to run to you and give you a hug. But honestly, I can relate to the way you feel so much. I was diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder about 10 years ago and since then, I always considered myself an anxious person. Now, that I study Psychology, I've learned that you should never call yourself that because then you let this disorder define who you are. But no one told me before so I was walking around thinking I am an anxious person. Hence, I thought I needed to react anxiously to every situation and every external stimulus which is a belief I'm currently trying to challenge. At the moment, I am struggling with anxiety again (probably worsened due to the lockdown) and I feel like the most important (but also the hardest) part is to accept the anxiety and always remember that it's only temporary! You are not your anxiety, your anxiety is just a part of you! I send everyone who is struggling with anxiety or any other mental issue positive vibes and never give up! Better times are coming! :)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me!! I've been making that mental effort to switch out of "I'm anxious" to "I'm feeling anxious/experiencing anxiety" and you're so right, it does help to peel it away from an identification. It's such a normal part of the human experience, though at times it can definitely come in doses we're not always used to or totally equipped for! So thank you again for sharing your insight. Keep spreading your light Lisa!!! ✨

Girl this is so real. I have suffered with anxiety for about 3 years now and gone through my fair share of depression throughout my life.. I started counseling a couple months ago and it has been so helpful! My therapist has also had me work on grounding everyday and it’s made such a big difference in my overall mood. I feel so much happier and just way more grateful for what I have. I also recently set an alarm that goes off every single day at 1pm with a reminder that says ‘joy, love, appreciate’ and it just makes me smile every time and no matter what I’m doing I take a second to stop and appreciate that very moment. It’s been really lovely and I highly recommend 💛💛

Your timing on this is literally impeccable! I'm 48 years old about to turn 49 next month, and yesterday I want to urgent care and the ER to rule out a heart attack. Turns out it was a major anxiety attack. The symptoms are extremely similar sometimes. But because of my family history I didn't want to take any chances. My EKG was clear. I need to chill.

Had that experience 6 years ago when I was 33. It was so scary. I remember one of the doctors asking if I had gone through something to trigger my attack. Well my mom had passed away that year. Almost 7 years later I still deal with anxiety, but somehow I managed to cope with it. Spirituality and religion helped a lot. Exercising. And trying not to be so perfect and solve all problems of the world are keys to keep me balance. I recognise I am only human and thus I have flaws and insecurities and that I have God watching over me. Hope you feel better 💖

I appreciate your honesty so much! Those who suffer from anxiety can truly relate to your videos and your point of view.Yes there are days that are easier and there are hard ones.Sometimes we can name the reason that makes us anxious, other times we have no idea what it is.Those things that we do to feel relief usually work but not always. At times we wish we could be free from those terrifying feelings but there are those days that we believe us to be more connected to the universe, god, one can name it differently and that we will figure out our true free self on the end.It is not a straight road. And it is ok.

Girl ! You're the one that actually helped me understand that what i suffered with was anxiety. You showed me that it is ok not to feel ok all the time... Thank you for that
Now if I may... I discussed this tension between "i should go on living" and "i should nurture this anxious feeling" with my coach the other day. She's my crossfit coach, but she's sooo so enlightened... She told me that sometime, what you have to do is sit with yourself and get to the bottom of things. Get your hands dirty. Try and understand why you're feeling all the feelings. Sometimes the best thing to do is step back to step in. Hope that helps a little !

I can completely relate with exercising when you are feeling anxious. There have been many times within the past couple of months where I was feeling really anxious, so I would go to the gym and lift. It's kind of like tricking your brain into thinking that your heart rate is increased because of the exercise instead of the anxiety.

I keep coming back to this video when I’m having an anxiety episode. Somehow watching someone else go through the whole process until it’s over in a few minutes helps me to remember I too will be ok in a few moments. Thank you for this video, sometimes vulnerability is where we find emphaty, I think. ✨

Thank you for being so honest and true - keep doing what you're doing. I love seeing how much you have grown as a person and I love how vulnerable you are. You're vulnerability is truly making a difference in this world and I truly believe you are meant for great things.
I relate to you on so many levels. I also struggle with anxiety and even just being able to take time off or a self-care day is hard. I always feel like I just have so much energy, mind is going a mile a minute, my chest feels tight, and sometimes I am literally paralyzed in thought. Something that has really helped me lately is taking time off social media and deactivating my accounts (I know this is not possible for everyone - esp if it is your job). I found that when I was feeling anxious I would turn to social media and just endlessly and mindlessly scroll. It would end up making my anxiety worse. Now when I feel anxious I get up and start cleaning or go for a walk, do yoga, workout, dance, something physical. Being psychically active always forces me to come back into my body. What you said about meeting your anxiety level with your body really resonates with me. I really enjoy high intensity activity when my anxiety is at it's worst. Totally makes sense because your almost fooling your brain to come back down with your heart rate after your done.

Thank you for always being so real with us. Your videos are not only my source of calm, but they always make me feel seen and less alone in my struggles. Anxiety is very very real, and I was feeling the same energy you were last week (even went to see what was happening with the moon to find some possible explanation 😂). I appreciate you, your work and this community so much 🧡

I'm a fellow HSP (highly sensitive person) and the way you describe your anxiety, down to a tee, resonates with me ❤❤ I feel so seen, and you are no alone in these experiences. Grounding and getting back into your body with gentle movement I've found is profoundly helpful too. Sending light and peace your way. ✨

Thank you for this video. I am just finishing up my first trimester with my second miracle baby and have been feeling SO overwhelmed and anxious thinking about the fact that there's only 6 months left until this little one comes into the world. I feel so unprepared and paralyzed (not to mention all-day sickness and exhaustion) that I just don't do ANYTHING. I work and I binge watch TV and sleep. It is nice to know I'm not alone.

Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing. I always have a hard time sitting with my feelings. I’m 36 weeks pregnant and about to go through a massive life change and was working full time up until last week. Now I’ve got time to think and haven’t been able to get out of my head and back into my body. I’m definitely going to be trying some of the things you suggested for grounding yourself like being outside or breathing exercises. ☺️

This has been my life for the past 6 months, I finally feel like I'm gaining control of my life again. I always tried finding the root cause of my anxiety and it made me go into a deep hole. Sometimes we cant just explain why things happen in our life. The only thing we can do is do our best and just take it day by day. And one day we will understand.

I am watching this before going into work, which has been such a stressor that I’ve started slipping into a major depressive episode. My anxiety has been on a level it hasn’t been on in years. I needed this today. I grew up in the country, and being stuck in the city has really messed with my most effective grounding method, which is similar to yours. I will see where I can go to reconnect with the earth and myself after work today.

When I tell you this video couldn’t have come at a better time... Kalyn, it’s like you’re reading all of our energies right now 😭 For the past few months my anxiety and depression have been through the ROOF which has also triggered an ED. I got off my medication last year because I felt like I didn’t need it, but as time went on, I realized just how bad I was getting. All of these coping mechanisms are fantastic; exercise, trying to ground your body, and just feeling the way you feel! I also think it’s important that if anyone is ever struggling or feeling low consistently to maybe consider reaching out to their family doctor and don’t be ashamed to ask for help and DON’T be ashamed to be on medication if you need it to function. My doctor put it like this: you wouldn’t tell a diabetic to stop taking insulin, just as you wouldn’t tell someone with anxiety or other mental health issues to stop taking their medication. I felt like a failure going back on my medication, which ironically I started up yesterday, but I’m ready for the journey of healing and getting better again, along with exercising, grounding, and trying to develop a better relationship with food. Thank you for this Kalyn ❤️
