Best Phytoplankton Culture vid I've seen. Very informative and good detail about using RO water (0.0 TDS) and how there's copper in fertilizer. Couple of questions, do you culture more than one type of phytoplankton? How long do you light your culture each day? You also never elaborated on how you can save a culture that's started to crash. You only mentioned feeding but nothing specific.
Thanks for the video :) One slight error I noticed - F/2 does contain copper, just in very small trace quantities (approx. 10 micrograms CuSO4 per litre of final medium). Also there's a good reason for F/2 to sometimes be shipped in weaker form - keeping certain components below 1% avoids it being classified as hazardous. Things you wouldn't know unless you looked in to making it ;)
You mentioned that if a culture crashes it starts to turn clear and you also mentioned that you can fix it with the F2 fertilizer how do you go about doing that do you just add F2 fertilizer after you filter it and then put it back in a clean vessel and put the air on it again?
Hi how often do you need to replenish the F2, and once you extract say half the phyto do you just replenish the saltwater and add 1ml of F2 Great and informative video
Hi everyone, i consume marine phytoplankton as a supplement. I want to start to grow my own from the supply i have so i dont have to keep buying it. is f/2 formula safe for human consumption. as in if i feed this to my plankton, in turn is it safe for me? thanks
Do you reuse the rigid airline tubing or is it always a new piece when you start a new culture or split an old one? Been having slight issues with contamination but im not sure if it is because of that or because of outside particles being sent in from the airline tubing. All of mine are in 2L bottles capped off but there is obviously a small opening so air can leave.
I have seen people using rubbing alcohol to sterilize. You can simply pour some in the empty bottle and shake it well. Then empty it and let the excess alcohol evaporate. Hope this helps!
Thank you very much for giving us part of your time and doing this great work.

What is your ratio for your culture? You mentioned 1 liter of culture, then added x liters of saltwater.
You can use poop to fertilise. Just use a few pieces of chicken fertiliser pellets.
Thanks. Nice clear video.
I'm interested in the edible ones 😎
great information; thank you.

Loved the video! Very informative :) I do have one question though, how do you determine how much f/2 to add to a culture?
what do you sterilise with.
Do you fliter the air, to prevent contamination ?
Would adding co2 be a good idea?
I can't find your website and I would like to see videos on rotifers please
Did I hear you right? 1.9 to 2.0 for your salinity?
I've read 1.019
Great video! Do you culture any type of copepods?

Great and informative video
How do you know when the current culture is going bad or what not? If you have extra, do you just dump some away, dilute, and regrow?
Any differences in breeding freshwater equivalents?
Can you feed daphnia with this
hi there good video i have tried to log onto the site but always comes up with an error
Does the phytoplankton have any smell to it?
smells the poop
What aeration did you use? CO2 or O2?
It's just an air pump I think. So air.
once cultured, how long will it last in the bottle?
2 seconds
How can we achieve 0 tds ? I have at best 2tds :)
Hello! Can I ask you about the lighting? On how many Kelvin do they emit? What's the best for growing phytoplankton?
Aney 60 watt light

Isopropyl is your friend
any best dptt for fresh water algal identification and its ecology
i prefer mineral oil
how do you sterilize ?? please?

What kind of light did u used?
white light
how do you get the clean salt water? od you use every day ocean water
what do you use for your air pump, and are you pumping co2 or air in? ive heard of people using both.
what
what temperature is better ?
360° celcius
Dude f/2 means 2mls per litre litres of new water. So your F2 is not f/2 it's super concentrated version of
Hi you can tell me why the seaweed is in the bottom and the transparent water has a good sounding and intense light what can I do
because
can humans eat it?
Some types are actually edible and even hawe a good taste (but others are poisonous, so always check out wich species it is before tasting).
