Cripsy Wings In The Instant Pot

- This is a great technique to cook chicken wings from frozen. The problem with most wing recipes in the Instant Pot is that they skin gets soggy. Even though these are baked, they come out crispy, almost like deep fried.
I use this pressure cooker for my recipe: www.amazon.com/Power-Pressure...

Me and my instant pot are just getting acquainted so I’ve found RUclips to be a great resource for quick tips and cooking times. I saw your title and clicked on it. Glad I could read the 15 minutes on on the LED cooker, it told me how long that auto cook setting is programmed for on your instant pot. Mine is a little different.
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I had to sift through the negative remarks...why people have to be so rude. Reminds me of an old song by Three Dog Night - Easy to Be Hard. how can people be so heartless, how can people be so cruel...it’s easy if they have no feelings. Simply take what you liked and leave the rest.
All I can say is WOW, I cannot believe how many negative comments! I appreciate your courage and willingness to share in a public domain. Don't feel bad about all of these comments, these people obviously were looking for help because they don't know how to cook using a pressure cooker. A little kindness goes a long way people!
This recipe turned out great! This is the best recipe I have attempted for wings that are both healthy and crispy! Thanks for posting. ❤️
Smoked a joint, watched this video, went to store and bought a instant pot, made these wings with a few tweaks, came out amazing! Thanks for the video!
lol. sounds like a great day.
i have made these many times , thank you ... love them
Ma’am you personally in my opinion have the best wing recipe on RUclips. This is the only way I do my wings.
-alright! Mine are in the pot cooking! Can’t wait to try these
Great video, very helpful. I've done similar using a slow cooker then cooling them and grilling the wings. I'll try it your way too now.
Genius! Thank you for the recipe I’m going to try it out.
The most important part of the recipe wasn't mentioned. The cooker had the 'chicken preset', but not everybody has that -- like mine. So we don't know how long or what temp the cooker process was. Not a big deal tho. I've seen others where they were from 12-20 minutes (from frozen). Otherwise, good video.
This is my new go-to! These are AMAZING! My previous recipe had the wings submerged in the liquid while in the Instant Pot. I like this much better.
Thanks Terry! I am glad you like it.
so how long in the dang pot!?
@@LarryKelly I know!!!
@@TrumiWoodburySaintPaul the title says instant pot 😔
@@LarryKelly on the instant pot Duo 6-quart cooker the poultry setting is 15 minutes
wow. this was a genius way of doing it. i love doing my wings in the air fryer vs frying them traditionally like i used to but the problem is u can only do a few at a time. this way is great bcause you can do em all at once. really inspired idea
Your recipe was great. Will definitely make again. Thank you.
I'd recommend using chicken stock instead of water, even though it's not sitting in the stock, it will still help, we use Better Than Bouillon brand. We never use water for any recipe.
They should have been well seasoned when she put them in the pot to begin with. I could have deep fried these in 5 minutes and had no dishes or clean up. I serve my wings on tin foil in baskets. They would be better anyway.
@@jerryleroy9187 cute
BabyHuey7705 well you know what? Make a video then?? Ok?
@@jerryleroy9187 if they're so good, why are you watching an Instant Pot Chicken wing video???
You can boullion in the water as well
So many rude comments. I thought this was a wonderful video. Thank you very much for taking the time to make it.
I am going to try this idea. Whenever I make wings in the oven they dry out before the skin ever gets crisp because it takes forever to render the fat. These would cook in 12 minutes or so and then just a quick browning in the oven to finish. I like to use my dry rub on my wings. Thanks and don't listen to the negative comments. Everyone's got something to bitch about.
Wings in oven uncovered 425 for 45, it will be crispy and juicy
cook them at 250 degrees for 10 minutes to render the fat, then raise the temperature to 450 and cook them until done, usually around 40 minutes.
Awsome !!! I love your technique and recipe, as well as a making the world a leaner place one wing at a time.
Thank you :)
Lawd have mercy! Where is the season Amy???
Recon Expert 😂🤣
Seasoning kinda light on them boys
😂
😂😂😂
😂😭😭
thanks for the recipe! I'm going to try it now!
I was looking for a chicken wing recipe with my pressure cooker and this one seems to be the closest to my own recipe in the oven/ I will let everyone know how I like it. It looks delicious and I make 2 different wing recipes because my husband doesn't like hot sauce so he gets barbecue and I"m on Atkins so I do the hot sauce. This seems to be MY kind of wing recipe.
Thanks! I can’t wait to try this!
Great wings! Gonna def try this! Thank you!
Great idea using the pressure cooker. I’m going to do my chicken this way before throwing it on the grill.
Yummy! The wings look good too.
Great video. I love what you ARE doing more that what others are NOT doing. That’s my mindset for dealing with negative comments. I can’t wait to try these! :)
Just made them. Phenomenal.
I do this method religiously ever since I seen your video. Thank you so much
Did these last night and they were absolutely awesome!! Thanks so much.
Awesome! I am so glad.
Great recipe idea! Thank you.
Im gonna have Crispy wings tonight! This Instapot recipe is doing it right!
Very cool! The wings look super good.
great video ....thanks for the short cut way to do these wings ....i cant wait..to try mine
This was the first recipe I tried in my new pressure cooker. I got the Mealthy Multipot. These wings were AMAZING!!! I will be making them again today! My husband and I LOVE wings but they were always so time consuming to make and made a mess of my oven and smoked up my kitchen. I love that this recipe uses frozen wings and there is no mess. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe!! I'm in love!!
Thanks so much for an awesome idea and video!
Why so many thumb's down? Maybe you don't like the technique or recipe but the video was perfectly fine.
im gonna try this technique. i'd say this is a great idea!
i tried it this evening..."crispy" is probably a misnomer, but they're not soggy like "baked" wings (like you get in these pizza places that just run wings through the pizza oven). My kids liked them a lot!
Have anyone tried this technique on drumsticks, and was it just as crispy?...
Not only a good recipe but a very nice presentation video as well. Thank you.
Nice recipe that I can tweak to fit my own tastes. I'd finish mine in my air fryer and add some seasoning to my water or use broth/stock. Thanks for posting. Nice kitchen too by the way.
Turned out super good and didn’t dry out at all!!
"Cripsy Wings In The Instant Pot" - It should have read Cripsy Wings In The Instant Pot and OVEN!!
It should have read Cripsy Wings In The NOT Instant Pot and OVEN!!
its a lot lot less time in the oven, this way.
@@lynnkramer1211 y'all are pettyyyy 😂😂
Liked the video and that looks like a great way to cook wings I'm going to try that. Thanks
@Fit Philosophi- Made these last night, and they turned out really nice. Crispy outside, juicy inside AND minimal fat. I used Carrington liquid CoCo oil (Jewel=$12/Target=$9) touted as flavor-free; it's a nice addition to my other oils. My only disappointment was that I pre-seasoned my fresh chicken before placing in the IP as seen in other vids. Your way is cleaner, quicker, and easier. Thx.
I have the instant pot with duo crisp and made crispy wings in just the instant pot
Please make a video, and I have dehydrated fruit in mine as well. That lady didn't use an instant pot, then bakes them...gah. No seasoning or pre wash eithor. 🤢
This is great. One question. How long should it be in the Insta pot and how long should it be in the oven?
Cooking is about what works. I make wings on a charcoal grill, or smoker then finish off in a gas grill, or whatever. People are so critical. This method works great too. Make it your own!
Wow no smoke alarms going off that is a great way to do it.
Awesome job!
Great video, thank you!!!
Thanks for sharing your recipe, who care's if it's an Insta-pot or not. Anyone with "common sense" would know that the wings will not turn out crispy in the pot. I for one cook them in the pressure cooker, and then finish them off on the smoker or gas bbq. These people with negative comments are really just that, negative people, they live negative lives and have nothing good to say in everyday life. Anyway, thank you for sharing your cooking technique.
Don Of Time no they are not negative people. They just know common sense and just like her you don’t have any. Why would you cook a wing in an instant pot just to put in a smoker. Just put it in the smoker and let it cook. But my problem with the way she cooked is she could have just cooked it in the instant pot instead of wasting another pan to clean. Waste of time for nothing. I appreciate the effort but you didn’t really do much to show you can cook.
I live a great life, but I have a negative comment, and my comment is that you and her can't cook for shit and I hate people who cheat in standard things, and this pressure cooker is trash. Learn to light a stove and balance oil and time. You can make crispy wings on the spot instead of even lighting your oven in like 10 minutes.
Your pan is so filthy too, just use a steel wool brush to get that nasty gunk off. Do you want your food to taste like weeks/months old gunk? Geez.
Very helpful thanks!
If you add some liquid smoke to the water the wings pick up that smokey flavor!
Great Idea!
#SarahRicherLefebvre... thanks, I'm new to liquid smoke...haven't ever bought/used it... saw it in the store last night.. think there were different flavours.. what would you use and in this example, how much would you put in the water underneath the rack of wings? thanks!!!!
I used mesquite but I also have hickory I want to try next. I use liquid smoke in chili and bbq sauce. I didn't measure when I mixed it with the water for the wings but it doesn't take much. I'd say a teaspoon maybe, it really depends on your tastes.
Sweet !!!! thanks for helping me out here #Sarah.
Sarah Richer Lefebvre For me, mesquite is the way to go for chicken, but taste is subjective.
This is really great technique to cook chicken wings.
We go old school with a Fissler stainless steel pressure cooker on stovetop I can’t wait to try your technique. So I am going to go with high pressure for 15 minutes and then do the natural pressure release for probably about 10 minutes correct?
Yep, every pot is a bit different, but generally 15 minutes at high should cook them and then do a natural release which mine takes about 10 minutes. Good luck and let me know how they turn out!
Those are some great looking wings... 😉
Never mind ugly comments. Your video is great. The only thing missing is cooking time in pot.
Good people in Minnesota!!! Great video!!!
Thanks for the video! I’m new to the Instant Pot and the couple of times that I’ve bought frozen wings to use for this recipe, some of the wings had remnants of feathers left on some of them. Isn’t that something that needs to be removed before dumping them into the pot? Or is it not an issue? I purchased these wings from Sams club. Maybe I need to go to a different store. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video! As with all recipes I'd have my own tweaks (everyone should tweak recipes) but for a proof-of-concept "how to do wings in a pressure cooker + how to finish them" it's a great video! Sure there are some fussy fussertons in the comments but hey, that's the internet. Thanks again, and bonus points for being local MN! Cheers!
Wow. Awesome
Great tip about not needing a *full* cup of water because of the water already in the chicken!
Great video. Wings turned out very good. I like your accent!
Omg, Reggie is the cutest dog ever.
Tips for cleaning that wire rack? I would imagine it takes forever to scrub that down. Looks great and thanks for the video!
PopCopyManager try spraying rack with Pam before you put the wings on! That should help with cleanup! Soaking in hot soapy water after will make it easier and quicker to clean!
I like to use chicken stock instead of water and season lightly before hand and moderate after because a lot of seasoning gets left behind in instapot
Oh Reggie is adorable!!
A smokey kitchen means your doing it right!
Thanks I will Try This
Yay Costco! Greetings from Davis CA. I purchased rhe pressure cooker xl for my mom, since she prefers the nonstick pot. I bought the Instant pot for moi. Both are super duper machines. You should try an airfryer also, pros: doesn't heat up the whole house, great for smaller servings, cons: not as big as the oven so multiple cooking, and another gadget (but we love our gadgets), and the results are pretty dang good, crispy and juicy. I also use avocado oil, it has a high smoke point of 500°! Thank you for sharing!
Love Costco :) Yes, I have been thinking about getting an airfryer...what do you make in it?
Fit Philosophi
I purchased the 3qt Nuwave oven which the Costco near me had on sale. It's enough for us, kids all flew the coop, LOL, so just me, my husband, and my 92 year old mother in law. There are orher brands like the Philips airfryer, which got really good reviews online. I'm happy with mine. It does the job. I have cooked thinner cuts of meat, great when using store bought appetizers, Foster farm honey chicken wings or other flavors, prepared fries like Ore ida brand come out really crispy without added oils.. I've seen people make fresh fries as well with very little oil. I have made salmon and chicken breast fillets1 to 1 1/2" thick.Even great for your leftover chicken wings, if you happen to have any. Just pop them in and dont forget to stop the machine in between cooking so you can shake the basket or turn over the items for even browning. Super fast and doesn't make the house hot and.smelly. Don't use Pam or similar oil in a spray can. It leaves a sticky residue. Best to wipe basket area with regular coconut oil. There are many tips and recommendations out there about Airfryer on you tube.
I have the air fryer but not really using it that much. Maybe after I sous-vide the meat searing it could be done in the air-fryer just afraid of over cooking it.
I.E. How to parboil wings in the Instant Pot and then finish in the oven.
3:53 15 Minutes when she hits the preset meat mode
Thank you!
Thanks
I never did chicken wings in the oven. I cook them either in a pan in oil, but as I have a Tefal actifry, I usually toss them inside with 1 tbs of oil and they are ready in 25 minutes. No smoke, no hassle. And as have an IP I've just got the air fryer lid.
I was so excited about this recipe, but the poultry setting on the pressure cooker makes the wings so tender that you can't toss them easily in the oil without them falling apart. Any advice?
Cook them for less time in the pressure cooker
*I love the instant pot so much! I have made quinoa, chicken, chili, asparagus **MyBest.Kitchen** and yogurt in it so far. The only thing that didn't work great was the asparagus. I cooked it for 1 minute and it was still overdone. It is a timesaver and uses much less energy than my gas stove.*
Good instructional video, we got an Instant Pot for Christmas and playoff games are today so we'll run with your cooking ideas.

*oh yummm*
Looks good, but I have to clean my chicken before I can cook it. Frozen or not frozen, I'm not a fan of finding any feathers on my wings.
Aimee Palmer Same here! And that's why I don't eat other people's chicken either - not sure if they cleaned it like I would!! Lol lol
Was going to say the same thing, my mother, grandmother and wife would never cook chicken without plucking out the feathers. There's always some left. I seldom eat a chicken skin unless prepared at home. Just food for thought.
Str8isis and that's why I don't eat meat at all. Feathers?! Ugh
Aimee Palmer Unless you are raising and plucking your own chicken, I have no clue where you people are buying r chicken from! I have NEVER found feathers on chicken I have purchased in a grocery store!
Thanks for the response , and that's a wonderful thing if you have never had any feathers on the chicken that you've purchased. However, it's just a personal preference for me to spend the time to inspect each individual wing before I cook them.
An hour on that rack in the oven at 400 (tinfoil under for easy cleanup). Put wings in a bowl & toss with olive oil then toss again with favorite flavors or just ur favorite BBQ sauce.
Thanks great idea
You need to rename this video because you didn't make crispy wings in the Intant Pot. You boiled them in the pot and made them "crispy" in the oven.
I thought the same exact thing and it's why I went into comments.
Exactly. I was so disappointed. I prematurely shared this recipe in vain. Ugh...
Oh quit being a karen. This is the way all the recipes for wings are in the instapot I use this same method when I do baby back ribs in the instapot also.
Great video!
thanks for the video.
Man that chicken is dead dry she should have just put the oven on boiled to make them crispy not cook them again by baking
Didn't know you could boil anything in an oven. Thanks.
So funny how people always have to Criticize. Great job I will try this. 👍👍
“criPsy wings”
Skol! From houston tx!
Chicken wings are easier to make in an air fryer, 15 minutes max with no mess
agreed, but you can make WAY more at once this way.
For how long the chicken wings stay in the pressure cooking?
AND ANOTHER......SAME QUESTION!!
so title is misleading - they are not crispy from the instant pot at all
Bups671
I agree with you. The main reason I don't want an electric pressure cooker is that you can't fry in it. Why not save the cost of an EPC and put a steamer basket into a regular pot or dutch oven?
VOman07 the title is still misleading...the Instant pot did not make the wings crispy. I have an Instant pot, so I know what it can do.
#1: Instant Pot is CODE for pressure cooker. #2: Almost all IP recipes are VARIATIONs of traditional cooking methods. #3: Open your mind.
The title is NOT misleading. It says "cripsy", not "crispy".
Bups671 totally agree!!! 🤔
This is the first thing that I have cooked in my instant pot on the pressure cooker setting. I appreciated the step by step instructions. They are in the oven as I type this. My only problem was that the chicken fell off the bone so it was hard to get them on the rack in one piece.
i had this problem, too. they were still good!
Nice, except you're a Vikings fan...Go Bears!! LOL. Thanks for sharing your technique!!
A good, simple recipe anyone can benefit from. You have a very pleasant and friendly demeanor that lends itself well to the camera.
I would like to make a very well intentioned suggestion. I normally don't watch cooking videos over 3 minutes and I know I'm not the only one, after all, we are living in an "instant" (🤣) gratify era.
I hope this helps, but doesn't offend you. It's a great video, just too long, but I'm glad I choose to watch anyway. I hope to see more.
I like longer videos. Short videos aren't informative enough.
Thanks!
Awesome video. Thank you. I have a new instant pot. Not so easy..👍
thanks for sharing.
I see where she is coming from to cut a little time off the cooking but the clean up is now extended! Am still going to try it seems cool.
No way. Cleaning up the IP is super easy. I'd rather do this than clean up a greasy oven.
All that liquid from cooking the wings...strain it, let it get cold in refrigerator and then remove the schmaltz aka chicken fat. The broth will be congealed...meaning it has lots of good stuff! Use this for a nice pot of soup! Add some cut carrots...and cooked rice or cooked noodles.
Theres a new Invention you know call Ninja Foodie. The foodie will do all that you doing in one pot. The foodie also dehydrates.
Peggy Sue Silvers then you make a video and show us how to do it right! We’ll wait......................................
Great info, i think I would leave them in the oven longer I like well done. Thanks for sharing. BTW go BOLTS ⚡️.
Yummmmmmy
That’s a good ideal
