The kid should speak to a hair loss specialist SOON. At his age he can save his hair but if he leaves it a few more years it's going to be gone. Barbers have a role to play here, they must know more about this than most doctors. Edit: major improvement, great job. I think he would look better completely clean shaven though, and get out in the sun a bit (step away from the console).

@@p.s.shnabel3409 By OP do you mean me or _The4thKen_ ? It's the kid's hair, if he wants to save it he can set up his own fund or get a side gig while at school. His school may even offer health ins which may cover professional advice + treatment.
There are plenty of resources on RUclips for youngsters saving their hair, but best for him to watch and develop his own protocol-I'd suggest an androgen blocker + minoxidil + some version of microneedling. Apparently there are things coming down the pike that may render these therapies obsolete but if I was him I'd do what I could now so he's starting from the best place when those treatments become available. My 2c.

When you do videos like these, do you choose your method/steps based off of the aesthetics with the viewer in mind, or do you sincerely cut this style/texture this way. Is there a name for a haircut in which it's basically this, but your preserve the length in the front of the head a lot more, and it gets less as you go back, with the fades of the side being the same. I have a friend who has a face but long hair at the top that he can comb over in any way, and it looks really good.

I love his new cut, but just wondering why he doesn’t wash his hair?
I've known guys his age with thinning hair who are afraid to wash because every time they do, there's more hair down the drain.
They mistakenly believe that the hair falls out more when they wash. The opposite is true, if you don't take care of your scalp, you are more likely to damage your hair.
Could also be a sign of depression.
If I were to guess, I'd say it's probably both in varying degrees. Feel bad for the kid and I love this channel for consistently giving hope to those who need it most.

I noticed you don't keep your thumb in the thumbhole of the scissors handle but outside it? Is this to get a better cut because it puts more pressure on the blades as they pass each other? It looks more like pushing the blade rather than just loose scissoring on the rivet.

Hairdresser here. Your working way too hard. Buzz lower half with desired blade dry straight away. Wet hair, section top, side and back. Cut vertical sections on each-not sure why your doing diagonal, much more work. Work smarter, not harder with same results 😉
