I had the chance to put the Peak Design to the test at a wedding, and let me tell you, in my professional opinion, it didn't quite live up to expectations. However, I must say, I was absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to try out the Spider Holster at another wedding yesterday. And guess what? It exceeded all my expectations! It's absolutely perfect for the fast-paced and comfortable shooting style that I prefer on wedding days.
Although I don't use this holster for my camera (yet) I've been using their holsters made for tools, and I'm really glad to see they've expanded. I use their holsters for heavy drills, and it has never failed me ever.
Thank you for uploading this video. We found this camera holster to be very helpful for our line of work. What backpack were you using in this video? Thank you.
haha you're faster than we expected lol! pd they do provide the other kind of torx that has to be tighten/untighten with a bar alongside with the product, but still, I'm kinda leaning towards spider more for your case of usage.
I remember first seeing this item and thinking it would be good for ppl with back fatigue. He’s the only one who actually said he likes it better than the Peak out of all the RUclipsrs.
I prefer the Spider too, when I had my 5D3. Kneeling down is a lot easier since it defaults to the lens facing back. I know the Capture Clip can be mounted differently, but it’s one less thing to think about. Looking to get it again for my R62, I just bought.
I am an amature . When I was young and skinny and had bony hips, the belt mounted Spider camera holsters might have worked for me. Alas, I am no longer skinny and a belt mounted holsters simply pulls my pants down. About 6 years ago I was looking for a way to have easy access to my LX-100, a relatively small but not pocketable camera. The Spider product I tried came with a velcro belt that solved one problem but the camera pad needed a larger camera to work efficiently. Still lonking for something other than cargo pants that works well with pocketable cameras.
I'm a travel and landscape photographer who's just gone mirrorless. I had the original Spider Pro holster for years but wanted to downsize as the former came affixed to a big, chunky propretary belt. I switched to peak design V3 with the Pro Pad, and even as a landscape photographer, I'm really disappointed. I hate the weight of a FF mirrorless on one strap, so I'm using it on the belt instead. The smoothness of the Spider is sorely missing. The PD's way of attaching is really fiddly and I wish they'd put the release on the front side so I could use my left hand. With the spider pro I could lift the camera and unlock with one hand. The lock is much smaller and hidden away - a professional thief who's familiar with the PD design will have no problem with the PD clip. Feeling secure from opportunist pickpockets is really important for travel. I didn't realise Spider did these little lightweight belt clips now! I'm selling my PD and going back to Spider. The action is just far, far smoother. You never have to even look - by the end of day one it was second nature to me to pull the camera and return it single-handed without looking. It's a much better design!
My main issue is that i have almost no butt (thanks to both of my parents for not giving me the good genes) 😂 I do have the PD clip which i love, but not all the time though… good video, thanks!
How does it hold weight .. says it's rated upto 3.5 lb.. my r7 and rf 70-200mm f2.8 combo weigh is 4 lb.. probably not good with heavier lenses.. have you tried?
Peak Design =The 2 screws … you didn’t know why … they are for when you want more secure and permanent attachment , but good your camera did not break.
I dislike the Spider base plate mount takes up valuable space on the bag. If you are working on speed, it's not all a mounting challenge. If you move to 2 zooms it will help you be much more efficient. You might even want to try the Tamron 35-150.
Ok ill take a look at it, to see what you are talking about, just keep in mind, what you might like/enjoy, someone else might not like or enjoy for different reasons.
This will irritate you within weeks I just sent back my dual belt upgrade and selling my belt on Ebay. Those pins sticking out under your camera you can't put the camera down flat to take a photo and the left side with the plate is designed that the lens has to face forward. I've just bought the 2 peak designs and the slide strap I think the answer to the loosening is to use the other screws and leave them on a belt permanently
@AndreMorganPhotography I've found a similar belt online for the peak designs so they can sit permanently installed on it so hopefully that works out. Thank you for the heads up on the thumb screws loosening
@@AndreMorganPhotography yeah? You will have a video? I do 2 of the mirrorless one one my right side, both metal cuz I got the previous version of it. Then I have a Trii Lens on my left side. This way I can have 3-4 lens and 2 bodies on me

I’m so happy to hear you say that! It’s my first time using it, especially on a real job, and it was fantastic!
I’m so happy to have found you on RUclips! You were the second shooter at my wedding at the Crescent beach club in 2023!
Wow such a small world to have found you here! Hope alls well with you and yours!

Thank you!
I had to update, because of the experience I had, I try to be honest with my reviews.
Here’s the bag: amzn.to/3UAjI85
I use the Falcam F38 system, which I really like because it also can be used for tripods in addition to strap, holster, etc.
That’s awesome! I keep hearing about the F38 sounds impressive
As I understand it, the Spider plate is designed to be Arca Swiss compatible, and so can also work with tripods
@edwardhutt1214 I believe, someone actually told me that they used for care tools like drills etc.
Amazing video, love it!
Appreciate it very much!
Great video! Love the Spider setup
Yeah thanks, it’s so much better for wedding than the Peak Design
yeah, does look good
Ahh I hope you found the spider holster a good upgrade. Best system there is for dual system. Glad your camera survived the fall.
Thank you! Yeah it was a good lesson when my camera fell, right away I knew the Peak Design wasn’t for me 🤣
me too, im sure its expensive
Dope, I can see why you changed
Thank you, it truly is, I actually am using now and it’s great!
great review and demonstration as always!
Really appreciate it, thank you! 🙏🏾

To be honest, I’m at a wedding now and it’s soooo much better than the Peak Design in so many ways, especially speed!
great review thanks for sharing. looking to get it for handheld wedding videography.
Nice, let me know how it goes
Nothing is more secure than the good old camera strap!
That is true, but there are always other gears to make what you do with your camera better in my opinion.😊
thank you for the video, may you update the instagram link, it doesnt seem to be working
You are welcome, I’ll do that now, thanks for telling me about the link!
Let me know if the link works now
@@AndreMorganPhotography yes thank you it does
@MosesMind awesome, appreciate you, thanks for looking out!

@casualksgaming9717 thanks, made the video to help each person to make a choice for themselves, it’s working for me, and I’m happy I made the change😊

I have a new video showing the new belt, it’s a lot better, I’m wearing now at a wedding
I was going to ask you why youcdid not use the spider, its much better than the peak design
Yeah I had to get it after that wedding I did, it was bad experience for me, when I had to put my camera on the floor, that was it for me
I saw this coming 😢
I told you to be very careful. Lots of people noted that too.
Yes you did haha
But everything works out in my favor, thanks again for your feedback
lol indeed😊
