Thank you for your channel and your informative explanations 😊 I want you to know that after watching just about all of your videos, my 11 year old daughter assissted our first freshener with a baby that kept sliding back in, the doe was screaming, my daughter knew how to hold progress so momma was able to get baby out in 2 more pushes. Im so grateful to you for sharing these videos ❤ we are very low intervention here, but so thankful to know what to do if we need to. Beautiful babies! Praying you get some beautiful doelings. 🐐
What a wonderful vlog Heather❣ You're always so informative in your vlogs! I absolutely love that you talk to us like we're sitting around the table having a chat. God bless you and your whole family including the furry ones🙏🫂❣💯
Cute babies as always! Elara is so pretty. I love her big brown spot. I tell my husband all the time I don't know why I bother putting on clean clothes lol. I wear bibs when it's cold so that saves my clothes a little bit.
Wonderful video Heather, we were rooting for does in the livestream but at least the kidding went fairly well and the bucklings are healthy. I think it's amazing that there's almost always something to learn even in good kiddings, so this time we learned more about the cervix and sort of how to handle if a goat is pushing too early. Loving how this year's baby mini lamanchas are turning out. Prayers that Breezy will give at least one doe! 💚💚
It's been a decently smooth kidding season, knock on wood!! The worst was Elpis' tangled "Turd" and even that was rectified smoothly and quickly! Knock on all the wood for Breezy!! Haha ♥
This is the best explanation of an undialted cervix I have heard. I had an awful experience 3 weeks ago with a foe pushing against an undialted cervix and this would of been so helpful to know then. I guessed at what I was feeling but this would have been so helpful.
Even though I was able to watch on the livestream barn cam, it's really cool to see it from this vantage point, also. I'm glad you were able to explain what happened, especially because new goat owners (or prospective owners) might be overly concerned if something like this also happens to them. Kind of "bummed" you've had so many bucks this kidding season, (especially because you were wanting does) but also very happy they have been healthy!
It actually gives me the extra time I need to freshen last Year's girls and see what they are made of/can produce! It works out. I'm still rooting for a Breezy/Feral doe!!
My first buck threw pretty close to even boys/girls. The buck that bred this time has given me a total of 8 girls and 2 boys, with just 1 doe remaining to kid. It's a shame I lost him.
Adorable. Our kidding season has ended. We had a total of 16 kids born: 10 does to 6 bucks. We did lose two girls. I was highly surprised to have a buckling born with a moonspot. His mom doesn't have moonspots and his dad doesn't either. I had to contact the breeder and she said it is possible our buck's mom had one hidden or that he does. Hmmm. Anyway, we took a Southern theme with the last two kiddings and I named him Southern Nights, nickname "Moon". His sister's name is Georgia. (One died, she was Dixie.) Then the other trio of Southern names is Wisteria, Song of the South, and Hazzard. Great info on the cervix and labor. Never seen such a thing: goats pushing when they weren't ready.
Hazzard is a name I need on my list! So sorry about the loss of the does. I've heard that sometimes hidden moonspots really just consist of a few hairs and can be hard to find! Someone has them!! So cool.
@@SageandStoneHomestead Yes. I think what appears to be little white hairs dispersed on a small area, really are moon spots. I have a doeling that appears to have a frosted jaw, but upon further examination, the hairs almost look brown. Hard to tell.
I was wondering how you kept all of your goats together bc all the goat channels I watch, keep the kids separate from the mommas. Thank you. So many bucklings. Winnie is so cute.
A lot of people on RUclips have show herds and separate kids and moms to preserve the udder integrity. Babies can contribute to uneven udder halves that would not score well in show, and some people pull kids at birth as a precaution against CAE. We don't have CAE in the herd but also the kid-share is so vital for us to homestead!! We need those babies drinking the milk so they can keep up when we can't! :)
And that is why you don't sell goats until you know you got replacements. 😂 Those are some cute kids still. My first kid ever was born a couple days ago! The mama kinda scared me cause she no longer wants to eat grain, she only wants weeds and hedges. Still makes me wonder about her.
Oh I've got replacement for sure from all the does born last year that I couldn't breed until this year! We have plenty of goats and milk and lots of room to expand as needed and wanted when our mini lamanchas are kidding! :)
More beautiful babies. I have 13 new babies so far from 4 Does and 2 juniors. I have one more junior due in a few days. What camera do you use in your barn?
This is the one I have! We have electricity out there but they have solar options as well if needed! www.amazon.com/dp/B0B4SB2CRD?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzsagensto-20&creativeASIN=B0B4SB2CRD&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.2WUYH3UX62JLR&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin
Her babies are adorable! Of course, when you want, do they have almost all bucklings😂 Do you name all the kids born on your farm? Im just curious. I'd like to do it too, just all my plans for our goat herd keep going downhill sadley.
Congratulations on the handsome new additions. I have a question I can't find an answer to....I have an 9wk old doeling. She was disbudded before I got her and it appears to be what will become a spur. Can you re-do the disbudding to get that extra piece??
I learn new info every video! But, I have two questions... how long did you wait before checking her cervix, and how far inside is it located? Our first kiddings (ever) last season were textbook, but our second is coming up in two weeks, and I want to be better prepared.
The book I have says to wait 45 min of ineffective pushing before you go in. I had watched her for a while on camera doing little pushes and then watched her for a bit while I was down there. Not sure if it was exactly 45 min but that's a good guideline. The cervix is about full-finger deep and is very soft and thin so it can be hard to feel which is why I don't wear gloves unless I have to go in deeper. If you ever need to go in, go slow and take your time, give the doe breaks. ♥
Do you have a waiting list for bucklings? I’m waiting for our May kidding to decide fully. But I think one if not both of my boys will be moving on. My hubby just told me we can make a trip for our next herd sires. So I’d love to find out about the list if you have one.
Yes we keep a waiting list and so far both of Clover's standard lamancha bucklings and the black polled nigerian buckling from this Kidding out of Nefarious\Tempest is available too!

Me too, anxiously!!
Our little Ladybug has those same upturned ears. It's so cute, she looks like a little bull. lol.

Fingers crossed for does out of Breezy!!
Tempest says “Nope! Having a baby now!”
For some reason the black one with the white head made me think of Flower From Bambi
Awe, I see it!
This just happened with me last night. Baby was stuck and had to pull. He was born with a defect but he was also HUGE!!
Big bucklings can be a pain! I'm glad everything worked out okay for you too!!
Beautiful babies!
Thank you! 😊
We are having a buck year too. Same sire as last year. Last year we had 4 girls and 3 boys.
Very interesting, I do wonder what causes that or if it's all just chance.
Perfect just got home delt w pets n walkies now to chill
When u said guess what it is I knew by the tone bucks 😅

I'm surprised to hear how loud your goats are when giving birth. We had Nubians of some variety and they were pretty much silent when giving birth.
