Hello, between the imalent ms32 and the imalent sr32, which of the 2 flashlights is more recommended since I am undecided between which of the 2 to choose
This might sound dumb and things like this might not even exist. but is there nothing that could maybe block out a certain amount of light that you could use to cover it (assuming the amount of light blocked is accurate) and then measure it?
Is the peak intensity of the first minute power supply limited or thermally limited? In time, do laser diode based sources have the ability to exceed these limits?
The drop seen during the first minute of runtime is caused by voltage sag from the battery, which is the limiting factor here. When reactivating the light on turbo, it will hit the same (or close to the same) peak again as the battery voltage is able to recover when the load is removed. This behaviour is seen in any electronic device pushing lithium-batteries to their limits. The drop from the turbo down to the sustained level is to prevent the light from overheating, so thermals are the limitation there. It remains to be seen where laser-based light sources go, they seem to result in dimmer but more intense beams. The max output it theoretically higher but I haven't seen any particularly bright LEPs in practice.
I have had the MS18 for some time and have taken it everywhere and have had zero issues with it. The build quality is up there with some of my best and just as expensive flashlights. Yes, there are more powerful flashlights available now, but I consider the MS18 overkill for my purposes. I have lit up a mountain or three and that's enough for me. This MS18 is well worth what I paid for it. This guy is way too pedantic, imho. Perhaps he can design the perfect flashlight so we can try it, then buy it?
If a light works for your uses, than that's all you can ask for. It's great that the MS18 has served you well. For me, it's been very finicky and at times, unresponsive, while the build quality is clearly much cheaper than these other lights. The beam quality is worse, and the performance is poor for the very high price point. But, I am spoiled with high-end lights, and it is literally my job to be pedantic in these reviews.
they should make one waterproof, i want to see divers illuminating the scary dark waters while having this thing naturally watercooled. Not because divers need that, just because i'm curious. I bet if the water isn't super clear, the loss of light to the impurities would likely be more blinding than aiding in seeing more, still curious...

I need bright and reliable. The places I explore are sometimes in complete darkness underground. Nebos lights keep failing me.
Depends on how much light you need. For stuff like that, I love my Acbeam X75, for something more pocketable Zebralights are an awesome super-reliable option. I use an Armytek Wizard C2 Pro as my main headlamp, it's got excelletn performance and is extremely durable.
@ethan-lumencraft- I have been using the 6000 lumen light because it gives my videos a clear picture for folks to be able to see everything. The Nebo is just too heavy and goes out too soon.
Despite previously owning the MS18, which I felt was already beyond bulky and extremely heavy, I have decided to go with the MS32, even though I do agree with the OP that the SR32 is the more practical flashlight, it’s lighter, has a more stable beam and quality than the MS18, the beam colour temp is far more gentle, and is all in all a more useful EDC light. Even with it’s already massive size Though when given the choice the novelty of owning 200K in pure outrageous flood lighting makes for such a fun device, especially when exploring or out with friends. IMO the novelty never ran out on the MS18 and it was very hard to sell in the end. I just bought this flashlight from Amazon AND a spare battery ($260) from Imalent. I received the light a few days ago. It's amazing 🔥 Huge upgrade over my Fenix LR35R. Love that light too as it's more of an every day practical light 😊
You use this 3kg+ flashlight as your EDC? Hard the believe but fairplay to you, have you replaced the straps at all or are you just using the carry handle on it?
@@GhostTheAssassin I followed the advice in this video, I don't use the straps. I just carry it. I've driven a flatbed tractor trailer across the 48 states for over 10 years now. I'm not a felon, never arrested in my life, but us truckers don't have a 2nd amendment right in many jurisdictions. I mainly use it for fun at the truck wash, to shine at the chrome while it's being washed. Hopefully it'll only ever be a novelty, but it can give an edge in a self defense situation. The Fenix LR35R is my EDC. This one is just more for fun. My spare battery should arrive soon, already shipped from Imalent. I love the light!
@@BackusCreativeImaging I love your choice of use case, self defence is something I consider, but again I share the novelty fun purchase as a prime, despite also having got mine with some elements of my work as well. I’m debating with myself if I got the right flashlight in the end as I could have gone with the SR32, which is considerably less weight and still providing a wow factor in lumen output. I’m told though that because of the sheer amount of light output its glare actually stops you from seeing the full distance beyond 800m I’ll be likely using the strap for it, since I plan to take occasional walks at night with it. Still wondering if I made the right choice though haha Mine’s in transit, I’ll guess I’ll see when it arrives :)
@GhostTheAssassin At 13:55 be aware that the Imalent strap connector broke after heavy use. This is why I decided not to use it. I'd say to find a strap that is higher quality after you receive your light. The SR32 is practically as bright as the MS32 and peak beam intensity in candela is higher on the SR32 as well, I think. Both are great flashlights. Hopefully you'll get yours soon :)
Realistically, probably not, I don't think it can sustain high enough output for long enough to properly cook anything. You can definitely light your food on fire though
I purchased and returned 2 Imalent flashlights 4 years ago. I did not like the build quality and the refinement of the electronics. Instead I bought an Acebeam T27 and a Fenix PD35 and they were so much more refined. I still have both of them. I've heard that Imalent is still lower quality and has odd design choices. My friend bought an Imalent EDC pocket flashlight and could hardly push the mode button because he has fat fingers and the flashlight had a mini inset button!
I should add that I just bought an Acebeam TAC AA and while the physical build quality was great the electronic refinement was not. When using NIMH batteries the ultra low mode changes order so as you cycle the modes its dim, brighter, dim then high. Also the LED was flickering as the NIMH battery was about half way through a run time test. Seemed a certain voltage confused the driver and it needed to flicker for about 5 minutes before stabilizing and continuing the run down. With the14500 battery everything was fine. I am unimpressed for Acebeam and what I expect of their usual quality. I returned it. Going back to my beloved ProTac 1L 1AA dual fuel for pocket carry in the TAC style.
Hi, nice presentations that you have. I have a hk08 that less powerful(still a lot of lumens) and lighter and smaller but not so portable. I mean you know that inconveniences before going for the brightest ones ;)... But this are way more expensive also
The HK08 is an awesome flashlight! It's actually got a higher lumen-per-dollar value than any of these lights in this video, and one of the highest on the market.
4:30 It's clearyl useful for poeple who go out camping, cave exploration, etc. Don't tell me "why worlds brightest flashlight?" It's just couple of buks, everyone can afford it for their safety.
You can’t innovate around the laws of physics. You can have a super bright LED array with enough heat dissipation to insure longevity, or you can have it in a flashlight format, but you can’t have both.
I found something very interesting to do. People would be surprised. Take a thermal temp gun and point it face to face on an LED Highpower flashlight. I was surprised.
If you can manage to disassemble the light, yes - but Imalent has not designed this light to be user-serviceable, and opening it will void your warranty.
The 205,500 lumens is actually close to other reviewers numbers… a properly measured test was 179,000 and he stated he had issues measuring so he thought the 10% margin of error was true and it’s likely 200,000 lumens. Flashaholic and 1lumen measured it. The other reviewer measured 189,000.. light bleed is a major issue.
The Imalent SR32 is just too massive, and drops brightness so much after you turn it on. My X75 is the right size for taking it everywhere, and can emit 20K lumens continuously...
Unfortunately the lumen race has totally went insane. It's all about winning the competition on the paper, but is hardly useable in practise. The batterypack is big but the lights are still overpowered. Neither the battery capacity or heat dissipation is sufficient for real use at anything close to the stated output. The user interface is bad with Imalent as well. Too close space between the modes makes it difficult to be sure which mode is active. For persons with some OCD this sucks.
If you want something that can maintain a lot of its luments, check the X75. I think it can handle 80000 for a while and has an option for a larger battery pack which no one seems to mention.
@@Waldherz 80,000 lumens for a while? Not even close.. the ms18 holds its top lumens longer than it.. the ms32 holds sustained lumens 2x as much as the x75.. the x75 isn’t even relevant anymore, minus the size.. that’s it.. lol..
Actually, this is not the brightest in the world. Chris Theil made a flashlight that is 501, 031 lumens, making it the brightest flashlight in the world.
Is it a race to see the most obnoxious beam? Lets see the most powerful floodlight you can find at 96 CRI One with a steady maximum output level until the battery is dead One with adjustable Kevin Temp One that you cannot see the beam itself when pointed at the sky You know what I mean, the one that only light up the subject you wish to photograph The one that has buttery smooth (wall to wall) diffusion without hot spots Show me the maximum "SUSTAINED" output centered around 3500K with adjustable RED level to match the camera I'm using If you just want horrible CRI with 5 second blast on turbo, then keep doing what you are doing But some of us would prefer a better light source for actual daylight equivalent photography on a lightly clouded day to eliminate the hard shadows Funny how those lights are so hard to find in the reviews I mean........an actual light worth having!
I think you're missing the point, the goal is to have the brightest flashlight, plain and simple... I don't think CRI is relevant for this thing at all. If super-high-output high-CRI light is what you want, buy a video production light such as a high-power COB or an HMI, that fits the description you outlined. When those exist, it doesn't really make sense to design a flashlight for that kind of use.
@@ethan-lumencraft- Thats YOUR goal I want a beutiful beam with buttery smooth diffusion from wall to wall at 96 CRI "MINIMUM" and as bright as can be around 3500 - 4000 Kelvin It's EASY to get the brightest light with a crappy beam at garbage CRI levels You should strive something better in your life You'd may find true happiness for once
@@bullwinklemoose7232 ...I have the same goal as you, I prefer high-CRI and nice beams. That was not Imalent's goal, and it's not fair to measure this light against those metrics when there are plenty of lights that do what you want.

It's clearyl useful for poeple who go out camping, cave exploration, etc.
Don't tell me "why worlds brightest flashlight?" It's just couple of buks, everyone can afford it for their safety.
This is perfect for search and rescue.
Good information thank you 👍
problem is, led heat issue. still is a problem even after 10 years of led development 🤦🏻🤦🏻
You can’t innovate around the laws of physics. You can have a super bright LED array with enough heat dissipation to insure longevity, or you can have it in a flashlight format, but you can’t have both.
very good cinamatograpyh
I found something very interesting to do. People would be surprised. Take a thermal temp gun and point it face to face on an LED Highpower flashlight. I was surprised.
Are burned out LEDs replaceable?
If you can manage to disassemble the light, yes - but Imalent has not designed this light to be user-serviceable, and opening it will void your warranty.
Battery life...how long? Time please!
All that data is shown in the battery life + runtime section at 05:12
Is this a good flashlight? 🔦 That is a silly question, a better question is which is brighter, the Sun or the flashlight. 😂
Sun is about 1.6 billion nits (candela per square meter) so you need an LEP flashlight to even compete.
How many dollars
Xhp35s seriously? How can he mess up that bad? Where's Matt? What happened to him? I sure miss that dude, really hope he's okay.
awesome video but no way im paying nearly $700 for a flashlight
The 205,500 lumens is actually close to other reviewers numbers… a properly measured test was 179,000 and he stated he had issues measuring so he thought the 10% margin of error was true and it’s likely 200,000 lumens. Flashaholic and 1lumen measured it. The other reviewer measured 189,000.. light bleed is a major issue.
all I want is a 2k lumer LEP
Not even close.. the ms18 holds its top lumens longer than it.. the ms32 holds sustained lumens 2x as much as the x75.. the x75 isn’t even relevant anymore, minus the size.. that’s it.. lol..
It's probably a good flashlight for certain specific situations but not for a general purpose everyman flashlight.
make teardown video
Petition for naming the ms32 "the vampkiller" 😂
Actually, this is not the brightest in the world. Chris Theil made a flashlight that is 501, 031 lumens, making it the brightest flashlight in the world.
That flashlight is not available for purchase
You don't need 200,000 lumens for search and rescue, even 50,000 is perfect..
Logo inventam lanternas com Xenon aí o bicho pega em.kkkk
Is it a race to see the most obnoxious beam?
Lets see the most powerful floodlight you can find at 96 CRI
One with a steady maximum output level until the battery is dead
One with adjustable Kevin Temp
One that you cannot see the beam itself when pointed at the sky
You know what I mean, the one that only light up the subject you wish to photograph
The one that has buttery smooth (wall to wall) diffusion without hot spots
Show me the maximum "SUSTAINED" output centered around 3500K with adjustable RED level to match the camera I'm using
If you just want horrible CRI with 5 second blast on turbo, then keep doing what you are doing
But some of us would prefer a better light source for actual daylight equivalent photography on a lightly clouded day to eliminate the hard shadows
Funny how those lights are so hard to find in the reviews
I mean........an actual light worth having!
@@ethan-lumencraft- Thats YOUR goal
I want a beutiful beam with buttery smooth diffusion from wall to wall at 96 CRI "MINIMUM" and as bright as can be around 3500 - 4000 Kelvin
It's EASY to get the brightest light with a crappy beam at garbage CRI levels
You should strive something better in your life
You'd may find true happiness for once
The Fireflylite E07X cannon 4000K might be worth a review
Seems bright enough for real humans
@@bullwinklemoose7232 ...I have the same goal as you, I prefer high-CRI and nice beams. That was not Imalent's goal, and it's not fair to measure this light against those metrics when there are plenty of lights that do what you want.
I much prefer the Cree XHP 35 Hi LEDs.
That’s not an emitter in these lights.. idk why he didn’t research it.. or where he even got that from. It’s the 50.3
I wouldn't bring that for camping. Your burn your tent down
1 minute capacity at 200 000 lumens...for 1000 dollars. OKAY.
Физику не кто не отменял
Nice!👍👍👍👍👍
nice video
So are you matts son????
It’s a shame these lights cost about half a month’s rent.
Hell yeah
Other than kids, who buys these lights, and for what purpose?
Search and rescue. Sea duck hunters. Watermen.
Really impressive, love your style! When America is divided and ruled by four, may GOD bless you with His light also. DANIEL8
nice
Only has 60 second battery life
5:04
Flashing 2 s32 at once on lion can save life in jungle 😊
If your lost in a trial hit your beacon and shine the light when you a helicopter
Nope! non replaceable batt do not waste your money.
My MS18 is crying on the shelve coz she's no longer the top dog.
MS 18 - лучше. Я купил MS 32 и отдал назад
MR90 top
❤😅
1 review every 6 months goodbye … unsubscribing… want other guy back. U lazy
GREAT GREAT REVIEW!!!!!! THE BEST ON THIS LIGHT!!

Well if you are not going to give us a thorough explanation man you should say so in the beginning so I can click on a different video,
Well done Bro, Your new sub in SoCali
I hope i have this flashlight one day🫠
So what happens if i'm being attacked and I turn try to keep it on them as long as possible🎉❤ 😭😂😂♥️🫡
