I read almost all these books when I was a kid 60 years ago. I never realized that the stories were already 25 years old

I had the same realization too. They were already old.

This is read from the original manuscript! Fantastic. I bought the hardcover book set on Amazon and they read wonderfully, plot and story line but it is a condensed edit. Comparing this audible to that which I read is quite different. For example the ticking bomb (alarm clock) is replaced by a fire in the trash incinerator at Tony’s Italian Market and there is no mention whatsoever of the Black Hand aka Mafia in the printed book. The voice narration is great, wish there was more of him on RUclips vs the computer-generated ones that are now common. This is the FIRST Dixon syndication book and it’s a great one!

Only knew Nancy Drew & The Hardy Boys from the ABC television series in 1976.
I sort of remember my now deceased mother mentioned that they were both from novelettes she read as a little girl in the late 1930's

I don't think there actually was a FW Dixon, although it's possible. It was a pseudonym for several writers who penned the books over a period of decades. I read the first 30 or so as a young guy about 50 years ago. The copies I read were early editions from the 20s and 30s complete with all the politically incorrect and sometimes downright racist language of the period. Interesting to be sure. The books fell apart and ended up in the garbage I'm very sorry to say. Many of them were pretty tattered when they were given to me by a big hippy guy who lived in the apartment above our house. They had plain tan covers. Great memories. Are you still out there Bill Tyra?😊
