    Hey, nice video. on my point of view you mistook about for what is made this table saw. it is a mobile table saw to cary on vehicule, and he feature and accuracy are ok for that. You point details who are acceptable for this king of machine, dont mix with fix table saw for worksop. Workshop table saw are eavier more expenssive etc...

      It's also in Makita's budget range of tools. They are often stripped down models. But even so some other manufacturers make more accurate portable table saws.
      Also the thing is that many people simply don't have the space for a bigger model even if they have the money for one.

    Voor mij is het vooral belangrijk dat een tool die ene taak wel aankan. I love tools... maar toch, er bestaat zoveel en in elke prijsklasse. Daarom als de machine het werk wat ik voor ogen heb aankan zal ik dit aankopen of een model groter. dit hangt dan weer af van de meerprijs, is het niet altijd waard

    • @christofix
      @christofix  5 лет назад

      Als het inderdaad een klein prijsverschil is zal ik ook altijd kijken om een model groter aan te kopen. Bedankt voor het bekijken van deze video. Groetjes

    Nice vid as always!
    Most important thing to me is accuracy, period. If a tool is not accurate you waste time and money (materials) in fixing the problem. All the things you mentioned that you didn't like about your saw is a prime example. With all that flex in the tool pieces it is extremely difficult to get accurate cuts. I had the same problem with my Ryobi jobsite saw I had. Hence the reason I splurged and bought myself a SawStop. Using the fence and miter gauge on that thing is a PLEASURE because they are so smooth and SO accurate!

    I’ve had this saw
    for a number of years, I regret buying it every time I go into my garage and see it. The rip fence is so bad, a lot of owners get rid of it and make their own. The t tracks aren’t a standard size so you have difficulty getting anything to fit. The sliding table extension is so poorly made I don’t use it. The plastic insert for the blade bends when touched, dust collection is woeful sawdust collects everywhere under the table. When folded up on its base and trying to store, it lies on the table top, it’s heavy so generally crashes to the ground if you’re not careful. It’s large and difficult to transport, the blade guard gets in the way, the riving blade is above the height of the blade creates problems with some cuts. In all it is so badly designed it’s a waste of money. Don’t buy.

    No mention of how to change the blade? I've seen the DeWalt procedure, I've seen the Milwaukee and they both accessible from the top. Looks like it's the same here, is that so? Also no mention of dust and extraction. What sort of dust extractor does it need? One made by Makita?

    • @christofix
      @christofix  4 года назад +1

      Sorry for my late reply. To change the blade is just like the Dewalt and the Milwaukee, it is accessible from the top. As for the dust extraction, there is an adaptor when you purchase this table saw and you can adjust almost any dust extractor available I guess. I have a Festool dust extractor and it works great.
      I hope I was able to answer your questions. If you have some more questions, feel free to ask.

    The quality of this saw is disappointingly poor - makita lable, makita price, made in china quality. There is not a single feature which does not need attention before the most basic operations can be carrie out. It is impossible to use any of the aftermarket mitre fences because Makita has chosen to use a different slot size. Do not buy - I wish I had gone for the Dewalt saw…

    Thanks for another great video, and honest review. Did you intentionally leave out the music in the last half of the video by the way? It is somewhat frustrating to see the result of your review. It is so like my scheppach hms 850 planer/thiknesser. The "machine" it self is good, but all the important bits are of poor quality. This is important for me in a woodworking tool: The tool must do what it claims to do. So, a square must be square, a fence must be solid and square. A gauge that says 45 degrees, must be 45 degrees. At least within reasonable tolerance. But if you can measure an error with tools in a home workshop - then it is not good enough. So, these reasonably priced tools fail on some of the most important aspects. Which is very dissapointing.

      @christofix  5 лет назад +1

      for the moment I am exchanging original music with other music for copyright reasons. Normally, music has to be back up within an hour. Thank you for your very detailed comment. I love that. Thanks for watching the video

      I cannot compare these two table saws. This MLT100 has indeed some issues, but it served me well for the past 2 years. You just saved me making an expensive mistake, I was going to buy one of these but those cons are deplorable. I've seen someone replace the cheapo plastic with a metal template but why the hell should you have to repair something like this in the first place. What I've seen here is very bad design, whats the point if you can't cut straight, you may as well buy a cheaper table saw and save yourself £200+ this lack of quality is certainly not expected from Makita, I'm very disappointed, looks like Makita is the Nokia of power tools.
    I wonder how many people have seen this video and walked away from Makita because of it?
    Do Makita care? I think not if no replacement kit is forth coming to bring the guides up to scratch.

Be sure to watch the videos where I upgrade the fence and insert. now it works really great. So if you want to save some money and take your time to upgrade it, it is worth buying. Doesn't the engraved designs affect the movement of sliding wood? When purchasing a tool, I'm all with the tool's consistency. I had to scrap a cheap circular saw due to moving parts, and the table saw I purchased had an inconsistent miter slot width from front to back, keeps me from utilizing a crosscut sled(no movement means getting stuck, giving allowance means there will be wiggle.). And the engraved design(table saw) moves the wood when applying downward pressure during cuts.

    • @christofix
      @christofix  4 года назад

      I have not yet experienced any drawbacks from the engraved designs. but I understand your concern.

      If I use 0mm as a guide for the cut, it cuts off by around 2.4cm. So I have had to use a marker and square to get the actual blade position. Forgive me if I am missing something basic ;)

    I heard that this saw has a 1" diameter arbour so dado sets to fit this are very rare and very pricey, also running 30mm std blades with inserts is not ideal. I have not inspected this saw but if true, that along with the floppy fence, flexing plastic blade cover and the sloppy mitre box would instantly rule this saw out for me. Also the mitre slots are said to be so small it's hardly practical to make a sled for it. Please correct any false facts here, I am sincerely searching for a decent table saw to replace an old Ryobi with a plastic, dive-down blade cover and tiny, shallow, wobbly mitre slots that drive me bonkers but the fence is great, fixes at both ends and has an accurate fence ruler. Nice saw cabinet and I love the graphic design and music, makes for an attractive channel. Also great patter and presentation and fair product review. Thanks keep em' coming.

    • @christofix
      @christofix  4 года назад

      The miter slots are indeed small, but i worked that out by making my own T bolt slots (ruclips.net/video/e4qnJPKNiLQ/видео.html)
      I did not know that about the dado blades, so I will have to check that out. Thank you for mentioning that.

    Hello! I did subscribe, your videos and your editing are awesome. Love your style.
    About this table saw, do you think that at 450€ is a good choice? Here in Italy there aren't lot of options, and everything is more expensive than in other EU countries. Now I've got a Leroy Merlin table saw (170€) but it's unusable, and I never use it. The alternatives are some Bosch table saw, but the blue line is way too expensive, at least 650€ and for an hobby I wouldn't spend so much money. What are your thoughts? Thanks mate

      @@christofix Thank you for your answer!! You are very very kind.
      I've seen your videos about the improvements on the Makita, both of them are amazing. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to replicate them as well as yours, but I could definitely try if I'll decide to buy this table saw. In any case, your videos are really inspiring! My goal is to buy a saw that doesn't require an "upgrade", at least on the fence, like probably the De Walt or the Bosch professional lines, but I cannot afford them as I wrote you in the last comment.
      Oh well, I'll take some time and I'll decide. Again, thank you very much for the time you've taken to answer me. I'll see you in your next video! I can't wait! Bye bye, take care

    I had just bought online a makita mlt100 in the Philippines. It's powerful, it has dust port, the blade does not wiggle as I move it up and down, and there are lot of features. The downsides of it like the fence, miter gauge and the sliding side which are not built with accuracy can be improved. If we have no plan investing a lot on a table saw, I will surely recommend this one. It's worth my money and I am proud of it because its makita.

      Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. the makita is a good machine for the low price it cost. Owned mine for about 6 or so years now. Been very happy overall with it. However I have had to replace the blade height adjustment mechanisms twice. I recently had the gears and bearings in the motor replaced. The after sales service from Makita is very good. Considering I only cut hardwoods and use it more than the average home woodworker, it has done well. I hardly use the mitre as I use a crosscut sled. That solves the problem of the play on the mitre and the flimsy pastic blade cover. When ripping i work around the play on the edge of the fence by applying most lateral pressure near the base of the fence. Cuts are square enough and accurate enough for what I do. My next upgrade will be to and industrial machine but I expect a lot of good service from this machine for years to come.
